"MONMOUTH -- The embattled chief of the town's Police Department has resigned. In
a resignation letter delivered to selectmen during Wednesday's regular
board meeting, Police Chief Robert Annese said his decision was
prompted by family, particularly his wife, Debra Annese.
"This
has been a twenty-four hour a day job for three-and-a- half years,"
Robert Annese wrote. "The accumulative effect of all of this has caused
stress on my wife and family and is beginning to affect our marriage.
Debbie has asked me to resign my position, and I am going to comply
with her request.""
