A "Thank You" to Jim Baumer, Author of Moxietown and Native of Lisbon Falls

The below Letter to the Editor was written primarily in response to a great article that Jim Baumer, author of Moxietown and native of Lisbon Falls, wrote about the Moxie Festival in Lisbon, Maine. If you would like to check out that article, please visit:

Dear Editor,

I would like to commend Jim Baumer for taking the time early this morning to post a wonderfully written article about Moxie Day 2008. Jim, it was a pleasure seeing you and your wife and family yesterday. I can't wait to sit down and read your newest book. Thanks for the autograph too!

After looking at this morning's Sun Journal, I was thoroughly disgusted at the short, poorly written article regarding yesterday's activities in town. Jim, thank you for the photos you posted as well because one of the total of two pictures in the paper was so blurry you couldn't make out what it was.

I also noticed in the "Maine" section of today's paper that the one article that was in the headlines and was on one-half of the front page was the float in the Norway Downtown Arts Festival parade. This same float got front page coverage as well! Does anyone know the number of people that attended that parade? Lisbon's 25th Annual Moxie Day gathered approximately 25,000 people and all we got was a teeny-tiny article? What gives Sun Journal? I am seriously thinking about cancelling our subscription.

I applaud the Concerned Citizens of Lisbon by coming together to develop this website. Now everyone will have a chance to get the word out to the community so that ALL Lisbon residents can now have a voice and will be able to make better informed decisions and get the other side of the story.
