After reading the letter regarding the workers at the transfer station in Lisbon, I find that I must come to their defense. When I first moved to Lisbon, the latter part of 2001, I had just had my second surgery for a broken foot & ankle.
I had a series of cast placed on me for almost two years. During this time I made my usually trips to the transfer station several times per week.
There was never a time when I had to ask for assistance carrying my trash. I was approached by several different men that had seen me hobble out of my vehicle. I was always treated with courtesy and friendliness.
I still do not know most of their names, but I see the same faces all of the time. Whenever I bring coffee or treats to these employees, they are most thankful and appreciative.
Maybe the person that wrote the letter had the unfortunate opportunity of dealing with somebody having a bad day, just like all of us have.
I am forever thankful and supportive of the employees, and will continue to express my gratitude with little offerings of hot coffee on a cold winters day.
Thank You
