The Dead Horse‏

First, let me say thank you to Larry for his article particularly the one that pointed out an additional blog site at lisbonmaine.net.

While I appreciate the obvious concern a number of residents have for the town, could we please find a new horse to beat.

I believe there are more important issues in our town than a few Tractor Trailer Trucks. While I agree the regular use of Wing Street and other roads by these large vehicles can be detrimental to the road, I have not been able to find a specific restriction.  Basically, if there is a specific restriction, ordinance or traffic regulation these vehicles are in violation of for Wing Street or any other roads, please show me that information or quit beating this dead horse.

As for the trucks blowing through the stop sign at Wing and Scottsdale, that too is a moving violation and requires a Police Officer to observe the infraction before taking action. The sign is at an obscure point on Wing Street and easily missed even if you know it is there.

While there is indeed a sign prohibiting "THRU TRUCKS" - A through truck is one that passes through an area without having an origin or destination in that area. If a truck originates or has a scheduled stop within that area, it would not be affected by a through truck prohibition.
Additionally I believe the "thru truck" prohibition is a moving violation and as such a police officer would have to observe the vehicle in violation not just see it parked on the side of the road. Unless a vehicle is parked in such a way that it is a hazard to other vehicles or pedestrians, I believe the Police Department has more important things to take care of.

I am more concerned with Mr. Morealle and his problems than I am with a few trucks.  How about we worry more about what IS or ISN'T going on at 300 Lisbon Street and get our house in order.
