Dear Lisbon Residents,
I have been following the Lisbon Reporter for quite sometime now. Never really had anything that I felt like writing to it for until yesterday morning. You see I don't reside in Lisbon or Lisbon Falls but do commute everyday to work up the interstate to Augusta and just to add I don't have a State paid job either. But anyways I know in these tough economic times that all towns are struggling to keep things going. Fuel prices are going up already once again.
Thursday, 9/8 morning about 7:50 am a clearly marked Lisbon Police car blew by me so fast that I thought the paint was going to ignite on the side of my car. No lights flashing, no siren wailing, not even a blinker. Now Police cars don't get good mileage anyways and certainly don't get it at over 80mph, as I pushed my little car up to 75mph to see just how fast he was going but decided it wasn't worth it as he was pulling away from me like I was going backwards.
Now why would a Lisbon Police car be speeding northbound on the Interstate? If it hadn't of been for cars changing lanes in front of him I am sure he would have been going faster. It doesn't set a very good example as a supposedly Professional Law Enforcement Official to everyone else that shares the road. Perhaps leaving a little bit earlier would make a safer journey for everyone else that shares the road.
Just thought I would share this with you all to let you know about how this officer of the law was conducting himself. I just wonder if there was a "fresh" donut sale or perhaps a cat in distress.
Signed,
A neighboring citizen that just loves the Lisbon Reporter
