Lisbon Is So Transparent That No One Can See Anything !

WHAT MORE CAN THEY TAKE AWAY??!!!

It is very obvious the Town of Lisbon is in a deep downward spiral.  Look on the town web site for the agenda for Tuesday’s workshop.  It is not there.  When Councilor Cote was not reelected, the town of Lisbon began its uncontested reign of terror.  There was little transparency in government before but now there is absolutely no transparency.  This standing council, headed by the Bowie, does not want the citizens to know what the council is doing.

The first indication is no agenda posted for Tuesday’s workshop.  Even through the public cannot speak at a workshop; the residents have a right to know what is being discussed.  According to Vice Chair, soon to be Chair, Pomelow the people have no rights and should be seen but never heard.  Pomelow, under the guidance of Bowie, has done everything she can to prevent the citizens from having a say on any issue brought before the council.  Look at her feeble attempt at changing the Council Working Rules.  Individuals are only allowed to speak on issues during Audience Participation.  This means speaking before the issues are explained by the sponsor.  How can anyone intelligently address an issue without understanding why or what the issue is?  This demonstrates the logic of Pomelow and this council.

Why can’t the people know and understand what is going on in their town?  Councilor Mason used to encourage residents to become more involved in what goes on in Lisbon.  Now she sits back and does what she is told by Bowie.  She is only allowed to speak on social events in the town, like a Social Director.

The people have a right under the United States and Maine Constitutions’ for a transparent government open to the public.  This is not happening in the town of Lisbon.   The people have a right to know what is being discussed at Council Meetings and Workshops.  The Agenda and all documents being utilized at meetings or workshops should be posted on the town web site enabling citizens to choose to attend for themselves or not these meetings or workshops.  As it stands right now, the residents do not have any idea what is going on.   Keeping the residents of Lisbon in the dark is the primary mission of this standing council.  This allows the council to perform underhanded dealings which cost the taxpayers large amounts of their tax dollars.  Look at 3 Village Street!!!!!!
