So Long, Good-Bye, Town Councilor Vice-Chair Lori Pomelow

VICE-CHAIR LORI POMELOW’S FAREWELL SPEECH

Lisbon Town Council Vice-Chair Lori Pomelow

During last night’s town council meeting, Vice-Chair Lori Pomelow gave her farewell speech to the town.  Vice-Chair Pomelow thanked the town for providing her the opportunity to serve the town.  She also thanked her fellow councilors for their support.

Vice-Chair Pomelow went on to trash myself by name for my writings on the Lisbon Reporter.  She also was very critical of others who have written articles on the blog site.  According to the Sun-Journal, Vice-Chair Pomelow stated The Lisbon Reporter is my blog site which is completely false.  I am a reporter for the Lisbon Reporter and have never claimed to be anything other than a reporter.  My “ill-prepared and ignorantly written rants” as Councilor Pomelow called them have always been supported with the facts I had at the time.

Vice-Chair Pomelow also stated for the Sun-Journal and I quote “Noting that Fillmore routinely complains about wasting taxpayers’ money, Pomelow said about one-third of the town’s legal budget for the past fiscal year, about $12,000, “related to your chase of non-existent conspiracies and freedom of information request.”  This is a very accurate statement but what Vice-Chair Pomelow failed to mention is these legal fees were for the two law suits I filed and WON.  The town was forced by the court to provide me the information I was always entitled too.  Had the town officials provided this information in the first place it would never have cost the town a dime.  As a taxpayer in the town of Lisbon, I am extremely concerned about how my tax dollars are being spent.  I ask the questions at every town council meeting and hardly ever receive any answers so I have had to resort to filing Freedom of Access Acts (FOAA) for this information.

The Lisbon Reporter is a blog site dedicated to keeping the citizens of Lisbon informed as to what is really going on in this community.  Vice-Chair Pomelow claims according to the Sun-Journal “In what she described as “disparaging entries,” Pomelow said they are written by “people who have nothing better to do than park themselves at a computer and pick others apart.”  The people who write articles on the Lisbon Reporter and the LisbonMaine.net are concerned citizens who also want to know why our taxes are so high and question some of the decisions of the town council.  Vice-Chair Pomelow also made reference to me wearing my Lisbon Concerned Citizens T-Shirt as a “silly T-Shirt” or maybe it was my other T-Shirt “God must Love Stupid People Because He Made So Many”.  Who knows but it offends Vice-Chair Pomelow.  I wonder why????

What is ironic is Vice-Chair Pomelow’s ranting about the Lisbon Reporter and I by name is in direct violation of the very Council Working Rules she authored.  Paragraph 7a  Decorum states …”All members of the town council shall accord the utmost courtesy to each other, to town employees and to the public members appearing before the town council and shall refrain at all times from rude and derogatory remarks, reflections as to integrity, abusive comments, and statements as to motives and personalities.”...  Well I guess Vice-Chair Pomelow believes she is above the rules of the council.

 Lisbon Council Chairman Fern Larochelle

What is even more interesting is why didn't the Chairman Fern LaRochelle or any other members of the council stop Vice-Chair Pomelow once she began her personal attack on me?  Apparently, this council does not believe in following their own working rules.  No citizen of Lisbon should have to listen to the ranting of Vice-Chair Pomelow or like Lisbon Police Chief Brooks when he did the very same thing to then Councilor Roger Cote on February 17th, 2009.  In both cases, the information provided was filled with false information and half-truths.

Please watch the video of the town council meeting on Friday night and see how the Vice-Chair of our town council conducts herself.

Isn't it funny how the "officials" in Lisbon go after the person(s) for outing corruption but never seem to clean it up?  Think about that when you cast your ballot or make a write in choice this November 6th.
