DIRTY POLITICS
I just saw a sample of this year’s ballot and was shocked Mike Bowie’s name did not appear on it. I never thought Bowie’s ego would allow him to lose control of the council. Also, it is unbelievable David Brooks would let Bowie step down because there is nobody else to protect the police budget.
Town Councilor Mike Bowie
Lisbon Chief of Police David T. Brooks
Once I began thinking about this I believe I understand what the political machine in Lisbon is doing. Brooks and Bowie have come up with the perfect plan. What is going to happen is the political machine operated by Brooks and Bowie are going to use the write-in option to steal this election.
Just like they did for the Norma Wells recall I created.
Just like they did for the Norma Wells recall I created.
Knowing that if Bowie’s name appeared on the ballot he would never get reelected, the political machine is planning to write Bowie’s name in on the ballot. The two names currently on the ballot are just being used to split the vote and allow Bowie to be a write-in.
By splitting the vote Bowie will need fewer votes to stay on the council and the voters of Lisbon will never know what hit them.
If the political machine cannot come up with enough voters to outright win the election as a write-in candidate then whomever wins will come up with an excuse not to accept. This will go on until Bowie wins as a write-in candidate. Bowie will slither in like the snake he is and Brooks will retain control of the council. The police budget will be safe for three more years.
Is this legal? Yes it is. But is it ethical; absolutely not. This demonstrates to what lengths Brooks and Bowie will go to deceive the citizens of Lisbon. Watch and see if Bowie doesn’t end up on the council.
I call this dirty politics but typical for Brooks and Bowie. Both men have made a career of doing underhanded and deceitful acts. What else would you expect?

This is insane! How can this happen? I do have a question for you. Where can I find info about the candidates and possible write ins available for the local Lisbon election. I'm new to the area and don't know where to find any information about the people running. When online your site was the closest I could find with any kind of information.
Mr. Comber,
While I respect your
creativity and belief that a vast
conspiracy exists, I do feel the
need to point out some basic
FACTS. In 2008, the last
PRESIDENTIAL election year, 4143
Lisbon residents cast a ballot for
the town council seat. Roger Cote
won that seat. Charles Smith, who
I do not believe ran a large
campaign, recieved 1795 votes.
This being said, you are
suggesting that Mike Bowie and
Chief Brooks would have to have
pursuaded over 1333 people (4000
divided by 3)to write in the name
of Mike Bowie without using any
signs or public effort. While I
will not be writing in Mr Bowie's
name, I do have to wonder that if
those two gentlemen can rally that
kind of public opinion, maybe they
do represent the majority of the
citizens interests.
Thanks
To "meems" - I believe the
candidates are listed on the town
website, under the Town Clerk
department subset - "elections"
