The Little Red Wheel Goes Round~n~Round

AND THE FARMER HAULED ANOTHER LOAD AWAY!!!!!!

The citizens of Lisbon are so use to being lead around by the ring in their nose; they cannot see all the injustice going on. It is much easier to believe lies than to actually verify what a lie is and what is not. Chairman LaRochelle stated in November that in order to improve communications between the people and the town council; councilors would be available 30 minutes prior to the meeting to talk to the people. We have seen what happens when the people speak; they are totally ignored.

I am going to show how simple good communications skills could be improved in Lisbon. Lisbon has a town web site with all kinds of information, most of which is useless or outdated. The home page of the web site has the following reports available to the people.

1. 2010 Town Report

2. 2011 Town Report

3. 2013 Town Managers Budget Recommendation

4. 2013 Town Budget Presentation

5. Fireworks Survey Results

Let’s look at these reports for a minute. 2010 Town Report is over two years old. I am not against posting the latest Town Report but once the latest is posted all other ones should be taken down.

Now let’s look at the 2013 Town Managers Budget Recommendation and the 2013 Town Budget Presentation. Neither one of these documents contains any information about this year’s budget. The council approved a revised 2013 budget. So why isn’t the current 2013 budget, approved by the council, posted for the people to see?

Finally, the Fireworks Survey Results are still on the town web site. It is strange that a survey, which the council totally ignored, is still posted to the town web site. Since the council ignored the wishes of the people again; Why are the results still posted?

If the council was really sincere about improving communication between the people of Lisbon and the council, it would be nice if the town posted accurate and up-to-date information to the town web site. This is the responsibility of the town manager and we all know how useless he is. In Lisbon, it is more important to lie to the people and keep the people from knowing what is going on in town.

A simple action such as keeping the town web site up-to-date would go a long ways to improving communication in Lisbon.
