Lisbon HS to Host FUSE Siemens Event‏

LISBON STUDENTS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN FUSE CHALLENGE

High school students try out FUSE challenges of Wind Commander and a Solar Roller at a Siemens outreach event.

Lisbon – A group of 60 Lisbon High School (LHS) freshman students will be participating in green technologies program called FUSE on Tuesday, April 14.   The FUSE program invites young people to explore hands-on challenges inspired by real-world STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and design practices.  FUSE is a new kind of interest-driven learning experience developed by researchers and educators in the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University.  Siemens has partnered with Northwestern and created classes offered to students in grades K-12.

The Siemens Building Technologies Division in Buffalo Grove, Ill., is the North American market leader for safe and secure, energy-efficient and environment-friendly building and infrastructures.  As a technology partner, service provider, system integrator and product vendor, Building Technologies has offerings for fire protection, life safety and security as well as building automation, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and energy management.

The FUSE program offers a wide array of challengers that appeal to students’ existing interests in music, design, and pop culture.  Students work in teams of five at their own pace to complete the FUSE challenges, leveling up through increasingly complex projects and producing unique artifacts along the way.  FUSE Facilitators for the event at LHS, 2 Sugg Drive, Lisbon Falls, will be Science Teachers Rita Newell and Anne Wallace.  Teachers will assist with problem solving during the challenges presented by the complex projects.  Combining STEM programs with FUSE classes provides an additional approach to the sciences for a more diverse group of students.

Siemens is supporting the development of FUSE challenges in Lisbon and Gardiner Schools as part of their Green Footprint program.  Students at both locations will have the opportunity to try out the challenges and build their own wind turbines and solar cars.  To learn more about the Siemens Building Technologies Division visit  www.usa.siemens.com/buildingtechnologies.  FYI or other events and programs, volunteer and partnership opportunities in Lisbon Schools call 754.0021 or email mmillhime@lisbonschoolsme.org.  The latest updates can be found at Community Resource News in Lisbon Schools on FaceBook.

So What Is The 'Holdup" Of The Town Council Appointing Finance Committee Members, Finances or ???

Why is the Town Council taking so long to approve appointments to the finance committee? by Joe Hill

Several years ago Lisbon gave up its elected "Budget Advisory Board" and formed a Council appointed "Finance Committee".
At the time Councilors said the new Councilor appointed committee would better serve Lisbon's needs. This change was controversial because it came on the heels of a rather contentious budget season where the Councilors refused to take the advice of the elected Budget Advisory Board.

The last few years have seen this new committee's slots fill mostly with X Councilors that usually agree with the Council's budget ideas.

A few weeks ago Community Activist " Larry Fillmore" was appointed to one of the vacant slots on this committee and shortly after his appointment two other civic minded people applied for positions on the committee.  These appointments, if made, will dramatically change the political makeup of the Finance Committee.

Usually approving appointments to any committee is a formality that is routinely done at the Councils earliest opportunity, but this time I sense hesitation on the Council's part  to approve these qualified applicants.  I do not see any appointments scheduled for tonight's Council Meeting.  Could the Councilors be delaying approval in an effort to minimize opposition to their budget cut choices. I hope this isn't the case.

Call your Councilors and let them know you want these appointments approved tonight so the Finance Committee can start its work.

Respectfully
Joe Hill---LisbonMaine.Netla

Hillary Will be President Of Nothing

Kurt Schlichter

The only people who should be afraid of Hillary Clinton running in 2016 are her fellow Democrats, and the only thing they should fear more than her running and losing is her running and winning.

Hillary is a Lovecraftian monster, the Cthulhu of American politics who sleeps dreaming of victory, but she will never be president. You can take that to the bank, the same too-big-to-fail bank that probably paid her $250,000 for a 10 minute speech about income inequality.

James Carville Inadvertently Admits Hillary Clinton Used Private Email to Avoid Accountabilty and Oversight

Katie Pavlich

Long-time trusted Clinton confidant James Carville inadvertently admitted over the weekend on ABC's This Week that Hillary Clinton probably used a private email address and server in order to avoid Congressional oversight or scrutiny.

"I suspect she didn’t want Louie Gohmert rifling through her emails," Carville said.

One of Obama’s Border Children has only been here a short time but caught doing this Disgusting Crime

By -

By Rick Wells

One of the new replacement “citizens” that Hussein Obama and Jeh Johnson are working feverishly to import into the United States is a recent arrival within the last four weeks. His name is Ramiro Ajualip, an illegal alien who is now facing charges of rape and sodomy upon a ten year old girl.

The incident took place in Russellville, AL on February 27th.  Police say Ajualip has admitted both to the being an illegal alien as well as the sexual assault of the young girl.

Lisbon's Kahler Receives MPA Award‏

ARIANNA KAHLER RECEIVES MPA PRINCIPAL'S AWARD

 Arianna Kahler

Lisbon Falls - Arianna Kahler, daughter of Robert and Julie Kahler of Lisbon Falls, a senior at Lisbon High School, has been selected to receive the 2015 Principal's Award, Principal Nicholas Gannon announced today.  The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals' Association (MPA), is given in recognition of a high school senior's academic achievement and citizenship.

"Throughout her years at Lisbon High School, Ari has distinguished herself in the classroom, on the playing field, and as a leader in the school and the community," Principal Gannon noted in making the award.  "She very much deserves this recognition."

Arianna and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 12:30 p.m.

The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler.  Mr. McGowan and Mr. Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.  This year an additional five $1,000 scholarships will be presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament.

The Principal's Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine's school administrators.

A Bill Nullifying Federal Gun Control Wins Approval in the Arizona Senate

By -

That’s fantastic news! Arizona has stood up on their hind legs, stiffened their spine and said enough is enough. As has Idaho, Alaska and Kansas. Montana and Florida will follow. Americans are sick to death of Obama and the Marxists trying to do away with our 2nd Amendment rights. This won’t stop Obama, but it will slow him down and put him on notice. You come for our guns, our ammo or anything to do with protecting ourselves and you’ve got a big fight on your hands. Americans won’t meekly submit to a totalitarian government and relinquish their rights so easily. The Constitution rules this country, not Barack Obama.

They Laughed In Our Face For Abusing Welfare, Now They Were Just Handed This Very Bad News

By -

Every year it seems like there are more and more people trying to abuse our country’s welfare system. While welfare and government assistance was originally intended to help those struggling financially to afford basic necessities like food and shelter, today it’s used for much more.

Take this woman for example who says she uses the money she receives from the government to give her kids an extravagant Christmas filled with expensive gifts like iPads.

John Kerry Loses It Over GOP Senators’ Letter to Iran… But Look What He Did During the Vietnam War

By -

When news of the letter that Sen. Tom Cotton and 46 other Republicans sent to Iran hit the press, Secretary of State John Kerry lost his very tenuous uplink to reality and began spouting venom at the opposing party.

“This letter ignores more than two centuries of precedent in the conduct of U.S. foreign policy,” Secretary of State Kerry said, conveniently ignoring the two centuries of constitutional precedent on treaties that the president was ignoring.

Navy SEAL On Hillary Clinton: Lies, Lies, Lies, And Her Fake Sniper Story

Brian Williams has been all over the news lately. And while he’s getting the shaming he deserves, don’t think for a second that there aren’t thousands of other people out there selling you lies every single day.

And I want to make sure you don’t lose sight of another liar who thinks she can use the heroism of our nation’s armed forces to promote herself as the next commander in chief.

Hillary is Trickier Than She Looks

Bill Tatro

Richard Nixon said “I am not a crook”. He professed to know nothing about the Watergate break in. He laid full responsibility on others. Of course, had he simply stated, like Harry Truman, “that the buck stops here” he would be remembered much differently today.

President William Jefferson Clinton learned well from the disgraced Mr. Nixon and always took full responsibility for his legal, illegal and immoral actions. Nothing to see here folks, let’s just all move on. Most don’t even remember that Bill was impeached. We all just moved on.

Trey Gowdy Says Hillary Hasn’t Provided Any Emails From the Day Of Her Flight To Libya

By -
Republican lawmaker and overall conservative pitbull Trey Gowdy has been unwilling to simply nod along with the lies that emanate so routinely from this administration. Now, according to a report from Western Journalism, Gowdy is claiming that there are huge gaps remaining in the emails he has seen concerning Hillary Clinton’s time during her trip to Libya in the aftermath of the Benghazi terrorist attacks.

On Face the Nation this past Sunday, Trey Gowdy, who chairs the House Select Committee on Benghazi, announced that no emails from Hillary were provided from the day she flew to Libya to discuss the situation as Secretary of State. “This defies credulity,” said Gowdy.

Hillary Clinton May Have Committed a Felony By Failing to Turn Over Emails Before Leaving State Department in 2013

Katie Pavlich | Mar 12, 2015

Katie Pavlich
Questions continue to mount regarding former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's use of personal email for government business and it looks like things may have just gotten a lot worse, legally.

Up until now Clinton's email controversy has remained a political problem, but according to a former Department of Justice attorney and State Department protocol, she may have committed a felony by failing to turn over the proper documentation before leaving her position in 2013.

Every person who works inside the State Department must sign an official Separation Statement, which is a document requiring an inventory be taken of personal documents departing officials plan to take with them. These documents must be submitted to and approved by Department records officials. According to the State Department Records Management Handbook, officials who fail to turn over documents can face, "fines, imprisonment or both for the willful and unlawful removal or destruction of records as stated in the U.S. Criminal Code." Clinton has argued that she has turned over all the proper documents to the State Department, but just did it two years after leaving her position.

Lisbon Dr. Seuss Night Hosts Over 400‏

LISBON CELEBRATES ANNUAL DR. SEUSS EVENT WITH RECORD ATTENDANCE

Lisbon School’s Assistant Superintendent, Heather Wilmot, assisted as a guest reader during the evening festivities at the annual Dr. Seuss birthday celebration at Lisbon Community School.  Face painting provided by LCS District Librarian Katy Dodge; Library aide, Victoria Worden; Roxanne Blethen, Laurie Cincotta, Debbie Cote, Linda Lally, Sally LeBlanc, Dottie Nadeau, Kymberlee Piela and Jessi Stein helped create a Seussville atmosphere for the event.  Photo by Natalie Thomsen.

Lisbon – The halls throughout Lisbon Community School were filled with Dr. Seuss pajama designs and other costume clad students, parents, staff, and community members celebrating the National Read Across America Program with a Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration.  Guest readers arrived at the school campus located at 33 Mill Street in Lisbon on Friday, March 6th,  to find a record number of attendees.  Sue Ramsay, Officer Jeff Picard, Chief Sean Galipeau, Sue Bornstein, Shawn Wright, Heather Wilmot, Jo Jean Keller, Judith Rowe and Ron Hood provided readings to children, and their parents, from the most popular collection of Dr. Seuss books.

Guest receptionists Lorraine Bard and Lisa Caron welcomed over 400 attendees to the event.  “Thanks to the combined efforts of our adult and junior volunteers throughout the district, we had a fun-filled family night in Lisbon,” shares Lisbon’s Community Resource Coordinator, Monica Millhime.  “Anticipating a larger crowd from the 300 attendees last year, we opened our doors earlier at 4:15 p.m. to allow visitors the opportunity to get their faces painted with Dr. Seuss characters.

Donations from the face painting were targeted for use by the LCS Library.  An added feature this year were the impressive displays of Dr. Seuss themed bulletin boards designed by classroom teachers and their students.  Guests were invited to vote on their top three choices of bulletin boards.”  Homemade cookies provided by Lisbon’s Nutrition Director Jim Damsgaard, and his LCS kitchen staff, were a huge hit.  Door prizes and iTune gift cards for the winning bulletin boards were provided by the LCS PTO group.

Junior volunteers offered popcorn sales thanks to a donation from the Auburn Flagship Cinema.  Proceeds from the sales benefit local non-profit agencies. Ron Hood, an avid collector of Seuss and Pez items donated a Sneetches collectable.  Jo Jean Keller from the Lisbon Library contributed a Dr. Seuss tote bag as a door prize.   “According to the feedback received after the event, folks are already looking forward to next year’s event.”

Opening The Doors Of Cognitive Thinking

CAFR1 NATIONAL POST

PLEASE SHARE THE FOLLOWING with all of your contacts.
The "basic" information and disclosure that follows opens the big door of true cognitive thinking wide open for those that read and see what follows.
Thanks,
Walter - CAFR1

There is an "EXAMPLE" listing of a few CAFRs by category listed here:

http://CAFR1.com/listings/Listings.html

It is a listing of about 4,200 CAFRs. All are 2013 reports.

There are approximately 184,000 local government operations, each produces it own financial report each year so 4,200 is but a small fraction of the local government CAFR or AFR reports prepared each year.

A CAFR (Comprehensive Annual Financial Report) is your local government's "Statement of Net Worth" from the beginning of that City, County, State, School District, Enterprise, government entity.

Budget reports have been exclusively spoon fed the population for the last several decades. There is a BIG difference between a local government's statement of net worth (the CAFR) and a 1-Year selectively presented Budget report.

You could have a city crying they are in the red short 100 million dollars needing to raise taxes, but if you looked at the corresponding CAFR report for the same city and noted ALL aspects of what was contained therein, you may just see the same city is 1.5 billion in the Black.

Picture the Budget you may have for operating your house. Let's say it was $45,000 this year. You apply $45,000 to cover the cost of $45,000.

Well, let's say you spend $50,000 and are now $5,000 in the red. Do you go knocking on your neighbor's door saying: "I'm in trouble, my house budget was $45,000 and I spent $50,000, can I borrow $5,000?" NO YOU WOULD NOT!

You would look at your statement of Net Worth. There let's say your "over-all" income was $225,000 per year, you had been investing successfully for 50-years and had a portfolio balance of 1.7 million dollars, etc.. and had a net worth of 2.3 million when all was considered.

To meet the $5,000 shortfall of your house budget, you would pull from your other sources of income or assets to make up the $5,000 shortfall on your budget this year. In fact with all things being considered, that $5,000 would be pocket change to you.

Local governments for the last 65-years + have been playing the shell game of spoon feeding Budget reports to the taxpayers while NEVER a mention of their Annual Financial Report (CAFR or AFR).

Keep in mind, just like the Budget you set for your house, when anyone looks at it, they will be able to account for every nickel, dime and penny applied and spent. So if you have a deficit or a surplus for the year that is all the viewer will see. If that was all the viewer saw, and you had a $5,000 shortfall, then the viewer would think you were $5,000 in the hole.

Now if you showed the viewer your Statement of Net Worth, the viewer would then think and say to you: "Damn, you are well off!"

Thus, here we have all of our local governments playing the "Silence is Golden" rule spoon feeding the taxpayer budget reports with never a mention of their AFR or CAFR, and my has it been golden for them at the taxpayer's expense over the last half a century..

Download a few of those CAFRs relevant to your location that you will find on the example Listings page. Share with others from your community and REQUIRE your local talking heads from the News Media to direct their viewers to them for review and comment.

As noted those 4,200 example CAFRs are but a few, a small percentage of the total completed each year. To get the BIGGEST WAKE UP CALL of your life, think "scope" and "size" of the "collective" totals from all. Between local and Federal they OWN IT ALL by investment.

On a last note: Government was NOT supposed to operate at a profit. How did they get around that pesky little rule? Well, if any local government operation say made a hundred million dollar profit for the year or expected to do the same for the next ten-years, they would create a "liability" account, move the hundred million over to the liability account and then "Poof", there goes a hundred million dollar profit now designated as a liability on the balance sheets.

So LOOK VERY CAREFULLY at those many liability accounts listed. Are they truly genuine or are they "Parking Zones" for wealth obtained?

Being that there are many CAFRs and AFRs for local governments that are not in the Example listing, a good way to find those is through a Google search. It is important to use quotes. An example of what to put on the search line to pull up CAFRs say for Burbank, CA would be to put on the search line the following using quotes:

"The City of Burbank" CA "Annual Financial Report"

In doing so it will pull up the hits to view or download it if available via the Internet. You can do the same for any State, County, School District, University, College, Special District, Enterprise Authority, etc.

Hope the above helps you and please share with all that you know.

Provided FYI from,

Walter Burien - CAFR1
