In these uncertain economic times of today's world we ALL are facing budget cuts at home, work and government. After the budget fiasco process of this past spring, regarding the Lisbon Town Budget, it wasn't long before we decided to research and attend meetings and observe first hand.
Remember the meeting when Councilor Crafts was denied to put a topic on the agenda (3) three times?
Remember when Recreation Director Mark Stevens was not allowed to present his budget to the town council?
How about the Conflict of Interest issues that were raised and continue to be raised by citizens?
These are the reasons we sought the process of a recall petition:
A. Denying any councilor the right to place an item on the agenda. (Charter Sec. 2.04)
B. Not consulting with all councilors with dealings with the town manager. (Charter Sec. 2.04)
C. Failing to provide prudent fiscal affairs of the town spending by over expending department budget lines. (Charter Sec. 2.02)
D. Conflict of Interest. (Chapter 12)
We look forward to Monday Night's "Special" Town Council Meeting at 7:30 p.m. as posted on www.lisbonme.org.
