2012 Meet the canidates forum

TUESDAY, October 16, 2012

LISBON TOWN OFFICE

6:00-6:30 P.M.

1. CALL TO ORDER & PLEDGE TO FLAG

2. INTRODUCTIONS

Each candidate who will be present should be instructed to produce an introduction for the moderator to read. This would not be more than three sentences long.

3. MODERATOR READING OF RULES FOR THIS FORUM

Each candidate above will be permitted to make a two (2) minute opening statement. The order for this opening statement will be the order in which the names will appear on the ballot. Uncontested candidates may participate in this section. At this time write-in candidates may make themselves known.

Candidates for contested offices will be asked questions. There will first be an identical question asked of each of the candidates for Council. Then there would be a question asked of each of the School Committee candidates, and so on, for races that are contested. Answers will be limited to no longer than two (2) minutes each.

After each candidate has had an opportunity to answer questions from the moderator members of the audience will be offered the opportunity to ask questions. Questions must be able to be stated within one minute; answers will be limited to the same two (2) minute limitation as before. Members of the audience will not be permitted to make speeches for candidates. Questions from the audience may also be submitted to the moderator to ask.

At 6:20 PM we will finish the question at hand and then candidates will be given the opportunity to provide a summation, which may not be longer than two (2) minutes each.

d. With one or two meetings a month, all boards are limited in what they can do. How does/should the board decide what’s most important?
