TD BANK CLOSING DOORS IN LISBON FALLS‏

TD BANK  "America's Most Convenient Bank will no longer be "the most convenient Bank" to it's Lisbon customers.

In a letter I received on August 19, 2013 I was informed that they will be closing the Main Street Lisbon Falls
branch on November 1, 2013.

This closing will be most inconvenient to it's Lisbon/Lisbon Falls customers.

I was notified that local accounts will be transferred to their Brunswick Branch.  Or customers can go to their two locations in Lewiston. The letter did not mention their other location in Auburn

This when Positive Change Lisbon is working to improve Lisbon's image and bring Positive Change and businesses to Lisbon.

Many customers are pretty upset about the local TD Bank branch closing.

Are you one of them?

The Lisbon Reporter would like to hear from you.
And maybe from Ross Cunningham of Positive Change Lisbon.

This will be a great loss, not just to customers,
but to Main Street Lisbon Falls, and to The town of Lisbon.

This is crazy. What is the economic developer actually doing? Again. Anonymous so I'm not targeted by the town.

Dot,

Thank you for this post, I guess since I did not open my accounts at the Lisbon Branch I am not worthy of this notification by the bank even though my mailing address is Lisbon Falls.

You are quite correct, "America's Most Convenient Bank" will no longer be convenient. I still remember when they FINALLY installed an ATM ...

I am not happy with this closure, but I am also not surprised since TD Bank tends to concentrate on the bottom line and not on the needs of its customers.

While I have expressed my displeasure directly with TD Bank, I am sure they could care less.

Thank you again Dot ...

As for the Anonymous posters, what exactly do you expect Economic Development to do to keep TD Bank from leaving? The branch is either costing them money to keep it open or not making enough to warrant keeping it open. If TD Bank gave a crap about anything other than their bottom line, they wouldn't be closing the branch and inconveniencing their customers.

As for being targeted by the town, targeted for what?

You have the right to express an opinion but how about you give her a chance rather than immediately slam her. I doubt TD Bank discussed their closure plans with her before hand.

As for myself, I will be contacting Ms. Steuber and asking her if she has any ideas, but I doubt there is anything anyone can do to change this closure. She may however be able to find another financial institution that would be willing to take over that location.

I never said it was up to the ED and Ms. Stuber to keep the bank open. she has been here for only a short time, but has she been out visiting the local small businesses? Introducing herself, getting a feel for the town, asking what, if anything, she, and the ED Department can do for them?
TD Bank, leaving will be a big loss, for a lot of customers.
Can the town do anything to keep them here? Would it hurt to try?
The question was asked what does she do? Every time I have been at town office she is either in her office or walking the halls.

Loosing TD should be a good thing. For a bunch of people concerned about a small town why are you not banking with Androscoggin or the credit union?!? TD is a big company that cares nothing about its customers. Loosing them opens an opportunity for another local/Maine based bank to come in. Also TD is closing many of its more rural locations so chances are good there is nothing that could have been done to stop this one from closing.

I was very disappointed to hear of this branch closing. I am currently living in outer Lisbon and working in Freeport, I found this branch both helpful and convenient, just like they boast in there all famous quote (which they rarely seem the follow through with, by the way!)
But now i am forced to go to Lewiston, which i don't think i can bring myself to do, or all the way to Brunswick! crazy! as a long time TD Bank customer, I'm pretty upset, but we also have to think about the employees of this branch. I'm sure many of them who live in Lisbon were just as upset as the customers. I may just close my account and go to the Credit Union here in Lisbon. big banks are a bad idea anyway.
