LISBON'S MIDDLE SCHOOL HOSTING POETRY CONTEST

Lisbon - In celebration of April being National Poetry month, students at Lisbon's Philip W. Sugg Middle School will be participating in the annual Poetry Contest supported by District Librarian, Katy Dodge, and Library Assistant, Tim Gaudet. The program will run from Monday, April 13th through Friday, April 17th. Library windows at the 4 Sugg Drive campus will display the title, author and first line of thirty different poems. Students are required to research and write the poem's second line on their individual entry form for the contest. The poems include old and new classic pieces by Maya Angelou, Longfellow, Shell Silverstein, Ogden Nash in addition to some famous lyrics from songs about the Civil War and the wild, wild west. Poetry contest winners will be drawn after spring vacation on Monday, April 27th. The winners will celebrate with a pizza party on Wednesday, April 29th.
