GOPDD: ACLU, Muslim Groups Want FBI To Dismantle ‘Dangerous’ Website
PATERSON, NJ - FEBRUARY 24: Men participate in Friday Prayer at the Omar Mosque on February 24, 2012 in Paterson, New Jersey. The New York Police Department (NYPD) has come under renewed criticism following revelations that officers crossed into New Jersey to conduct surveillance on Newark and area muslims, including students at Rutgers University. The NYPD contends that they informed their counterparts in New Jersey and that the surveillance was part of their post 9/11 security measures. Officials in New Jersey, including Newark Mayor Cory Booker, claim they were not informed . (Photo by Spencer Platt/Getty Images)
(Via Daily Caller) Last summer, the FBI prepped a website called “Don’t Be a Puppet,” aimed at preventing Muslim children from being recruited by violent extremists. Users were asked to help identify radicals, and a virtual pair of scissors would cut strings to help the puppet escape, if the right answers were chosen. After inviting educators and civil liberties groups for input on the project, however, the FBI delayed its launch due to concerns it discriminated against Muslims and could lead to bullying.
