RECAP TOWN COUNCIL MEETING – AUGUST 2ND


Last Tuesday night, the Town Council met and the following is a recap of that short meeting.

After a short EXECUTIVE SESSION, the Town Council announced the appointment of Lisbon’s new Police Chief Marc R. Hagan effective September 1, 2016.

Marc is a twenty-five year veteran of the Brunswick Police Department and currently serves in the capacity of Patrol Commander.  Marc has an A.S. in Criminal Justice, and a B.S. in Administration of Justice, and has attended several Command level trainings in recent years instructed by the FBI.

During his tenure at the Brunswick Police Department, Marc served in many capacities and ranks including: Patrol Officer, Community Police Officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. 

Marc is also an Active instructor at large for community organizations and area merchants, a speaker and liaison for Bowdoin College students and faculty, served on the Board of Directors for the Mt. Ararat Baseball Program, served as Coach for the Topsham Recreation Department Softball and Baseball programs, has served on the Board of Directors for the Telford Shelter and served as Committee Member for the Annual Memorial Day Parade.

 Under Council Orders, Resolutions & Ordinances:

1.    Solicit Fuel & Electricity Bids – The Council approved for the Town Manager to enter into agreements of both fuel and electricity for the upcoming year by a vote of 7-0.

2.   Fire Department Truck 6 Extras – The Council approved by a vote of 7-0 for the Fire Department to use $12,329.00 from the Capital Projects Reserve fund to purchase extras for Truck 6.

3.   Tax Collector’s Settlement – The Council voted 7-0 to approved the Certificate of Settlement for the Town Manager for the years 2006-2009.

4.   Androscoggin County Budget Committee Official Ballot – The Council approved Allen Ward to represent this town by a vote of 7-0.

Under Other Business:  The Town Manager explained that the Tax Commitment had been completed and the town evaluation is at 100% instead of the 87% of last year.  Also the Town Clerk explained that nomination papers can be issued effective August 10th at 0730A.M. and must be returned no later than September 19th at 6:00 P.M.

Under Appointment:  Mr. Zach Schmoll was approved for the Recreation Committee by a vote of 7-0.
