One of my sons serves in the military. He is still stateside, here in California. He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcoming people were to him and his troops everywhere he goes, telling me how people shake their hands and thank them for being willing to serve and fight for not only our own freedoms, but so that others may have them also.
AUBURN — An attorney for Androscoggin County officials sought in court Wednesday to have a judge throw out a lawsuit accusing the Androscoggin County Board of Commissioners of improperly approving the 2015 county budget in which they gave themselves raises and benefits.
At issue is a dispute over commissioners' authority to give final budget approval and their vote in November 2014, setting their yearly salaries at $5,000, and $5,550 for the chairwoman, which is $2,000 more per commissioner than approved by the county Budget Committee. Commissioners also restored their health benefits, valued at $8,400 annually, after the Budget Committee eliminated them.
This is not going to work: the Islamic State recently directed its operatives in non-Muslim countries to shave their beards and not appear to be ostentatiously Islamic, so as to evade detection. A man may be forced to shave his beard or a woman forced to take off her hijab, but that doesn’t change what they’re thnking. Tajik authorities are simultaneously being repressive and inept. They are not challenging the ideology that leads to jihad violence; no one in the world seems to have the vision or courage to do that.
“To check radical Islamism, Tajikistan cops shave 13,000 men’s beards,” Times of India, January 21, 2016:
NEW DELHI: Tajikistan police is reported to have shaved nearly 13,000 men’s beards and closed more than 160 shops selling traditional Muslim clothing to check “foreign” influences.
For the first time, a propaganda magazine for the Islamic State terror group included an admission that the notorious militant known as “Jihadi John” was dead.
It appears in the latest edition of the magazine Dabiq. U.S. officials had previously said an airstrike killed him in Syria in November.
It appears that Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah has once again acted wrong in the keeping of records about the notorious and criminal Operation Fast and Furious from Congress by executive privilege.
On Tuesday, US District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson determined that Obama's use of executive privilege was not necessarily one of impropriety, but said that in light of other information the Justice Department had already released could not be sustained.
"This ruling is not predicated on a finding that the withholding was intended to cloak wrongdoing on the part of government officials or that the withholding itself was improper," Judge Jackson wrote.
The Clinton team is reeling from the latest revelations about the investigation into the presidential candidate’s continuing email scandal, and they’re doing their best to blame the negative press on the GOP.
But how could this be the GOP’s fault?
The secret information on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s personal email was more highly classified than previously understood, according to the intelligence community’s internal watchdog.
According to Guns.com, Alexander Calloway and his two cousins were trying to enter a Houston convenience store around 3:30am one night, but it was locked. Enraged, Calloway began arguing with Akrem Azzam through the bulletproof exterior counter.
Eventually, Azzam unlocked the door so that he could speak to Calloway face to face, and that’s when things got ugly.
Cuban-born convert to Islam, Julio Pino, an associate history professor at the Ohio-based Kent State University is under investigation for possible links to the Islamic State (ISIS). Pino, who has a documented history of extremism, reportedly posted ISIS propaganda pictures on social media and may have been recruiting students for the terrorist group.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation has sent President Obama a letter in a Washington Post advertisement today defending the firearms industry against his repeated smears. The letter also highlights all of the work done over the years to improve firearms safety. The entire letter below is worth a read.
Dear Mr. President:
The men and women of America’s firearms and ammunition industry are profoundly disappointed by your statements that we stand in the way of improving public safety.
We are America’s gun safety experts, in the true meaning of that phrase. We provide the firearms to our nation’s military, law enforcement agencies and the civilian market for hunting, target shooting and self-defense.
It turns out at least one firearm trafficked into Mexico (and lost) through the Obama Justice Department's Operation Fast and Furious made its way into the upper echelons of the Sinaloa Cartel.
According to a report by Fox News' William La Jeunesse a .50-caliber rifle connected to the program was found inside the lair of notorious drug kingpin El Chapo Guzman. Bolding is mine:
After the raid on Jan. 8 in the city of Los Mochis that killed five of his men and wounded one Mexican marine, officials found a number of weapons inside the house where Guzman was staying, including the rifle, officials said.
