GOPDD: Chicago Celebrates Valentine’s Day Weekend With 20 Shootings

(Via Daily Caller) A bloody weekend in Chicago illustrates a disturbing trend in the city: shootings are twice as frequent this year as last year and there’s no sign it’s slowing down.
Chicago saw six homicides and at least 14 injured in shootings over the weekend, the Chicago Tribune reports. At least 365 people have been shot in the city this year, 85 fatally.

GOPDD: State Releases New Batch Of Clinton Emails

(Via The Hill) The State Department on Saturday released over 500 emails from Hillary Clinton’s private email server from her time as secretary of State.
According to a State Department official, the latest batch of emails include 81 confidential messages, plus three that were upgraded to a “Secret” classification.
In the previous round of releases, 22 emails were withheld after being classified as Top Secret. None of the emails released Saturday were upgraded to that level.

EAGLE RISING: Federal Government Employee tells Miner that His Authority Supersedes the Constitution!

The Bureau of Land Management have been acting tyrannically for decades. As an unconstitutional agency, we have seen them in recent years not only violating the Constitution and the rights of the people, but we've also seen them take an armed violent stand against ranchers, both in Nevada and Oregon. All of it is unlawful. I want to share story that I ran across concerning two BLM employees and a miner in Idaho from 2012 during some research on the BLM. In a confrontation with the BLM, the Idaho miner asked, "You are telling me that you supersede the Constitution of the united States?" The BLM employee smugly replied, "Yes, I do." 

Nicole Crossman, one of the founders of the South West Idaho Mining Association, and her husband John, along with some others were at the family's camp on July 11^th, 2012 when they were approached by two BLM employees, who were identified as Ann Marie Sharkey and Jeff Weiss.

Breitbart U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has been found dead at a luxury resort in west Texas, news outlets are reporting. The Justice apparently died of natural causes in his sleep after a day of quail hunting at Cibolo Creek Ranch near Marfa, Texas.
Scalia, 79, arrived at the ranch for a hunting trip on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people, the San Antonio Express News reported. Scalia did not show up for a scheduled breakfast. Staff members of the resort went to find the justice and instead found his body.

There were 45,368,265 beneficiaries of the food stamp program in October 2015, the latest month for which data is available. The number increased by over 85,000 from September to October.

RECAP TOWN COUNCIL WORKSHOP – FEBRUARY 11TH

Last night’s Town Council Workshop was extremely entertaining to say the least.  Chairman Bickford turned the workshop over to Chief Brooks who provided a presentation he liked to call “Two for One”.  The idea was for both Chief Brooks and Lt Michele to retire under a onetime offer by the Town to pay their health insurance for three years.  I really do not understand this because both officers are either going to be 62 this year or they are 62 and the three years would provide compensation until they reach 65 and Medicare kicks in. Chief Brooks does not want the Town to pay health care for the officers and their family until they reach 65 but a flat three years. 

Nowhere in this presentation did Chief Brooks notify the Town Council, Town Manager or the people that he had already retired in March 2003 with a Maine State retirement account of roughly 1.7 MILLION dollars; that’s right 1.7 MILLION dollars.  Chief Brooks also has a second retirement account with International City/County Management Association – Retirement Corporation (ICMA-RA) of which I do not know how much is in that account.  According to the slide presentation, LT Michele will be paying into Maine Retirement System in 2017-$6,277; 2018-$6,403 & 2019-$6,531.  So how did Chief Brooks accumulate $1.7 MILLON in just 29 year?  Great question!!!!!!!

Chief Brooks wants to have both he and LT Michele take an early retirement and save the Town according to Chief Brooks figures a total savings of $177,000 for three years which is different than the Town Finance Director figures.  Also, and totally separate the Town would hire an additional Patrol Officer.  Chief Brooks and Chairman Bickford stressed that this was a completely separate action.  I am sure the taxpayers will agree 100% when it comes to spending their tax dollars.

Chief Brooks pointed out throughout his presentation that the Town was not cooperating with them; in fact, he stated that it was adversarial at times to the point Chief Brooks and LT Michele hired a lawyer to assist them.  Chief Brooks made a special point of calling it “them verses us” on numerous occasions.  Apparently, if you do not march to Chief Brooks drum when he speaks; you are adversarial.

All through this presentation, I never hear any suggestion of a proposed retirement date for either officer.  I believe it would be important to have a proposed date in order to more actually compute the cost savings to the Town.  However, I got the impression that Chief Brooks was not going to provide that information.  LT Michele did not provide any input into discussion.

After Chief Brooks’ presentation, Chairman Bickford asked Councilors for their questions and Councilors Ward and Metivier asked a few. However, the audience was NOT allowed to speak.  According to Chairman Bickford, the audience could ask their questions at the next Town Council meeting, Tuesday night because this is on the agenda.

P.S.  Remember Councilor Cote said that Chief Brooks had been sodomizing the community.  Could this be how he accumulated $1.7 MILLON in his Maine State Retirement Account in only 29 years?

LAST NIGHT'S TOWN COUNCIL WORKSHOP

Last night the Town Council had a workshop to discuss the retirement package that will be offered to Police Chief Brooks and his second in charge Lt. Michel. 

At this workshop Chief Brooks gave a presentation that sold this retirement package as a $177,000 dollar savings to the taxpayers of Lisbon.

Yes you heard it right, by spending over $120,000 thousand dollars on an early retirement for these two Officers we are supposed to think we are saving money.

The logic goes like this.  If we give our two top Officers the right incentive they will retire and by not replacing Lt. Michel's position we will save all this money. ($59,000 dollars a year)  This so called savings in the Police Department budget is only realized if we do not replace one of the retiring officers. This savings is tied directly to the reduction in personnel.

What we are not being told is that the Council and Chief Brooks are seriously considering hiring a new Patrol Officer instead of hiring a new Lt.  This hiring will negate any savings realized by eliminating the previous position and will turn that $177,000 dollar three year savings into at least a $100,000 dollar expense.

Chief Brooks connects the loss of Lt. Michel's position as a savings connected to his retirement but does not acknowledge the new hire of a Patrolman as being connected to the retirement. In reality we will be replacing a Lt. with a Patrolman.

He  only counts staff  changes that can be spun as a savings.

Bottom Line: We currently have 14 full time officers. If the Chiefs plan goes as planned we will still have 14 full time officers.  (no overall savings)

Facts not taken into consideration:

• This staffing change will probably generate more overtime cost than anticipated.
• Chief Brooks has already retired once. In 2003 he retired  from Lisbon Police Department with a retirement account of about 1.7 million dollars.
• There is another Lisbon employee that is eligible for this retirement package but it is my understanding this gentleman wants to keep serving Lisbon.
• We are setting a precedent that could cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars in the future?
• According to Chief Brooks these negotiations have become adversarial. The Chief, Dan Michel and the Town have all retained legal services. I wonder how much these negotiations will cost in legal fees?

Do we really want to pay $60,000 plus thousand dollars to someone that has actually only spent 12 years of service to Lisbon.  The Chief has already taken a very generous retirement for previous service.

I do not think it is morally right to take tax money from struggling taxpayers to pay for early retirement health care costs of someone that has already retired  with a seven figure retirement package.

GOPDD: Congress Passes Law Permanently Banning Internet Taxes

A provision in a larger bipartisan customs bill – the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act – that would force states to phase out the tax by 2020.

Yes, I know that there’s no such thing as assault weapons, but let’s just entertain this awful piece of liberal jargon for the sake of argument. Over at Hot Air, Jazz Shaw noted that it might be time for the high court to definitively rule on whether it was a constitutional right for Americans to own AR-15 rifles.
Second Amendment enthusiasts were again hit with disappointment last December when the Court decided to take a pass on whether to hear oral arguments on an assault weapons ban implemented in the Chicago-area city of Highland Park. Now, on the east coast, deep-blue Maryland’s 2013 assault weapons ban is back in the legal crosshairs, with the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that a stricter legal standard should have been applied to ascertain its constitutionality. It’s a tremendous decision, though the current ban remains in effect while the legal camps begin arming themselves for the fight ahead.

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) has become the driving philosophical force behind today’s conservative wing of the GOP. While he has not been in Congress long (Lee took office in 2011), he has spent much time and energy considering the philosophical underpinnings of why we conservatives believe the things that we do.
One of the biggest dilemmas facing our nation today has to do with the sad collapse of many of our dearly held constitutional principles. Every day we hear of new attacks on the Bill of Rights, whether it’s another thinly veiled attempt at gun control, or restrictions on our religious liberty in the public arena, or even liberal arguments to limit free speech. The Constitutional values at the core of our nation are in danger, and it’s up to conservatives to defend them.

 Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 33 of the U.S. Code says…
Whoever knowingly mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or ground, or tramples upon any flag of the United States shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both. 

Apparently the Hillary Clinton campaign for President didn’t get the memo, because while in New Hampshire, they were caught treating the American flag with disrespect.
