WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?????

I am going to show you how the “Good Old Boys” network; control our Town Council. All decisions made are political and not in the best interest of the community. This is how the network uses their buddies, they elected, to remain in control at all times. Here are prime examples:

1. The following is the approximate salary of the Police Chief, Fire Chief and Police Lieutenant. Police Chief is close to $80,000.00; Fire Chief is close to $70,000.00 and Police Lieutenant is close to $70,000.00. This is a combined total of $220,000.00. Now instead of going out and getting a Chief of Police; why not advertise for a “Public Safety Director”? If you can negotiate a starting salary of $70,000.00 the cost saving would be around $150,000.00 tax dollars. This would provide the community with a Public Safety professional for both the Police and Fire Department and would provide better service to our people. Also, the Public Safety Director could take over the Fire Control Vehicle and we can get rid of one police vehicle. Keep in mind; that our current Fire Chief has been working on an Associate’s Degree for over twelve year unsuccessfully.

2. The idea of eliminating the Lisbon Communication Center and going with the Androscoggin County Dispatch for emergency service would save the town approximately $190,000.00, according to the Town Council. The Town Manager estimated a cost saving of about $165,000.00 and I estimated it to be around $265,000.00. Did it happen, no because of politics? The range of $190,000.00 to $265,000.00 is in tax dollars and to me it is not chicken feed. So what is the right decision for the community? Keep in mind; there is no Dispatchers in the Lisbon Communication Center qualified to issue an Emergency Medical Code (EMC) to the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) to assist in the life savings process. Why do First Responders have to wait for a relay from the Androscoggin County Dispatcher before they are dispatched by Lisbon Communication Center? Doesn’t it make more sense to have Androscoggin County Dispatchers dispatch OUR First Responder immediately upon receiving a request for emergency services?

3. The town has two Department Heads with no credentials in their fields being paid exorbitant salaries (OUR tax dollars). The first is Ryan Leighton is the Superintendent of Sewer. The state says that you need to be at least a Grade 4 to operate the facility and he is a Grade 2, last time I checked. This means that the Plant Manager does the work/reports and Mr. Leighton gets paid (annual salary of close to $90,000.00) for it. What is wrong with this picture? Also, Sean Galipeau, Fire Chief, was hired with the understanding he would continue with his Associate Degree in Public Safety. Twelve years later and he still does not have his Associate’s Degree but is drawing a salary of roughly $70,000.00.

These cases, I have presented are not rocket science to figure out what is in the best interest of the community. The real challenge is to figure out why the Town Council is not doing them. The answer is simple. These decisions are all politically made by the Council in support of the “Good Old Boys” network to ensure these prominent citizens do not lose “Control” of the town. It is all about “Control” and NOT what is in the best interest of the Town.

I know everyone remembers the “goat rope” the community went through last year with the School Departments budget. This was forced by Councilors Bickford, Metivier, Brunelle and Crafts. Councilor Metivier is pushing for more cuts this year and as a result the School Department is cutting seven positions. Now, I am fine with the decision of the School Department with the exception of three of those positions are teachers. I cannot understand why we are getting rid of three qualified teachers and retaining two Department Heads that have no credentials. This makes absolutely no sense to me. If they have no credentials, then they should be let go first regardless if they are on the School or Municipality side. I believe it is our tax dollars that operate both sides.

Does any of this make sense to anyone? Is the Town Council really trying to save the taxpayers some money or pacify the “Good Old Boys”? So please tell me; “What is wrong with this picture?”

GOPDD: Councilwoman ‘Retires’; Collects $478K Pension, Returns Monday!

Philadelphia is known as the city of brotherly love and, apparently, paying out massive pensions to public employees who will continue working for the city.
Marion B. Tasco, who has been described as being “politically savvy,” will retire from her sixth term as councilwoman, collect $478,057, and then be sworn in on Monday to serve her seventh term, Catherine Lucy and Chris Brennan of the Philadelphia Daily News.

Tasco, along with many of her fellow Council members, is enrolled in Philadelphia’s Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP). DROP allows city workers to collect salary and build up pension money during the last four years of their employment, writes Aaron Kase of Philadelphia Weekly.

GOPDD: North Carolina High School Opens Indoor Shooting Range

Members of the Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program at a North Carolina high school reportedly will be able to practice shooting at the school’s indoor range.
WRAL reported the Smithfield-Selma High School JROTC opened its 1,200 square-foot, six-lane, indoor shooting range last week. The program paid for constructions with the help of donations from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and the National Shooting Sports Foundation.
The cadets will practice shooting with Daisy pump air rifles, but must undergo extensive training before they can participate in the activities at the range.

Planned Parenthood abortion clinics profit from the sale of aborted baby organs, according to new documents released by a congressional committee investigating the organization’s practices.
The U.S. House Select Panel on Infant Lives released a preview of its findings after a months-long review of internal documents obtained from the nation’s top abortionist, as well as organ procurement companies and buyers. The panel concluded that abortion clinics incur no additional costs in harvesting organs obtained from an already-aborted baby and that the sale or transfer of those organs represented “pure profit” for the clinic.
“The [abortion clinic] has no costs so the payments from the [procurement business] to the [abortion clinic] are pure profit,” the report concludes. “All costs are born by the [procurement business] or the customer. The payments from the customer to the PB exceed its cost by a factor of 300 to 400 percent.”
Pro-life activists said those practices run counter to federal law, which bars clinics from profiting off of the sale of baby body parts.

Mediaite: Sean Hannity got a little frustrated with Ted Cruz during a radio interview this afternoon over his campaign’s delegate game.
Cruz said he doesn’t think most people care about this stuff. Hannity shot back by invoking his millions of followers and saying plenty of people “find this whole process confusing.”
When Cruz dismissively said only Donald Trump‘s people are complaining, Hannity kind of blew up:

“Senator, why do you do this? Every single time––no, you gotta stop! Every time I have you on the air and I ask you a legitimate question, you try to throw this in my face, I’m getting sick of it!”

RECAP TOWN COUNCIL MEETING – APRIL 19TH

This is a summary of last night’s Town Council meeting.

Under Good News & Recognition – The town of Lisbon received the SafeWise Award for being the 12^th safest community in Maine.

Under Council, Orders, Resolutions & Ordinances –

1. Amending Zoning Ordinance – Property-Maintenance Section (1^st Reading) – The Council approved the first reading by a vote of 6-0 with Councilor Crafts excused.

2. Set School Capital Improvement Plan Public Hearing – The Council approved May 10, 2016 for date for the School Capital Improvement Plan Public Hearing by a vote of 6-0.

3. Warrant – School Budget Validation Referendum – The Council approved the date of June 14, 2016 as date to vote on the School Budget Validation Referendum by a vote of 6-0.

4. Library Grant Application & Fundraising – The Council approved for the Library to apply for the grant to help pay for the Kids Summer Reading program by a vote of 6-0. At the same time, the Council approved for the Library to do fundraising to help offset this program.

5. Establish a Capital Improvements Fund – The Council approved by a vote of 6-0 to establish a Capital Improvement Funds. At the same time, the Council approved the consolidation of several account to add to this new account. $100,000.00 was set into this account.

Under Other Business – Town Manager Barnes announced that she had received the resignation of Chief of Police, David T. Brooks, which is effective June 30, 2016.

The U.S. State Department reached an agreement with the watchdog group Judicial Watch on Friday that would allow the organization’s attorneys to depose Hillary Clinton’s top aides about the “creation and operation” of her private email server.
The agreement is the latest legal victory for Judicial Watch, which has been suing the State Department for public records related to Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state. U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan approved Judicial Watch’s request for discovery last month, a rare move in a Freedom of Information Act case.
Judicial Watch is seeking information on whether Clinton’s email server allowed her and top aides to evade public records laws and whether State Department officials intentionally obstructed efforts to obtain public information.
The watchdog group has asked to depose Clinton’s top advisers, Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills, State Department official Patrick Kennedy, and other senior officials.

New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte criticized the Obama administration for releasing nine suspected terrorists from Guantanamo Bay and shipping them to Saudi Arabia.
The administration transferred nine Yemeni detainees to Saudi Arabia on Saturday as part of a deal struck before President Obama’s upcoming visit to the country. Obama has made closing down the military prison that has housed hundreds of suspected terrorists during the War on Terror a priority during his last year in office.
Ayotte protested the move, saying it has “unnecessarily put Americans at increased risk.”
“With the release announced this weekend of nine Yemeni detainees to Saudi Arabia, the administration continues to dangerously release terrorists from Guantanamo and unnecessarily put Americans at increased risk in order to fulfill a misguided campaign promise—all while refusing to level with the American people regarding the detainees’ terrorist risks, activities, and affiliations,” she said in a Monday release.

The Minister Louis Farrakhan told an audience at Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday that he believes Osama bin Laden wasn’t responsible for the 9/11 attacks, and that the U.S. government killed bin Laden to conceal that notion, the Tennessean reported.
Speaking specifically about bin Laden’s death, Farrakhan purportedly said that it would have been more prudent for the U.S. government to capture bin Laden so officials could have learned more about the Al Qaeda’s closely held secrets and tactics.

“Why did they kill him?” the Nation of Islam leader rhetorically asked. “Because then they could tell you he was the mastermind of the fall of the Twin Towers.”

GOPDD: Rebuking Trump, Obama draws US closer to Mexico

The Obama administration has made a concerted effort to improve its relationship with Mexico following Donald Trump’s call for a massive border wall and his criticism of undocumented immigrants in the United States.
Trump’s comments on the campaign trail have infuriated Mexican leaders, who have fired back at the Republican presidential front-runner.
President Obama has publicly and repeatedly ripped Trump. Earlier this month, he mocked Trump’s wall initiative and his claim that Mexico will pay for it.
“Good luck with that,” Obama said.

A Russian fighter jet flew dangerously close to a U.S. RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft on Thursday in the latest military provocation by Moscow over the Baltic Sea, the U.S. European Command said Saturday.
“On April 14, a U.S. Air Force RC-135 aircraft flying a routine route in international airspace over the Baltic Sea was intercepted by a Russian Su-27 in an unsafe and unprofessional manner,” said Navy Capt. Danny Hernandez.
“This intercept comes shortly after the unsafe Russian encounters with USS Donald Cook,” he added. “There have been repeated incidents over the last year where Russian military aircraft have come close enough to other air and sea traffic to raise serious safety concerns, and we are very concerned with any such behavior.”

While giving a speech in Fort Campbell, KY, First Lady Michelle Obama touched on the topic of veterans finding work after leaving their duties with the military. In her speech, she mentioned that before hitting the campaign trail with Barack, she didn’t have a clue about what life in the military is really like.
She continued by contrasting her experiences campaigning with that of Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill, who are Blue Star parents.
“Unlike Jill, I wasn’t a military mom,” the First Lady said, “I didn’t know much about the military, and I was probably more like the average American.”

Canadians have been debating all week in the Quebec legislature about potential passage of a bill called, Bill 59. What is Bill 59? It’s a hidden Sharia model of how to implement phase 1 of sharia blasphemy laws. However, when the enemy lives right amongst the people how many decades does it take before this presence manages to gradually picks the freedom apart, in small pieces at a time? Eventually left-wingers will give them the freedom to block everyone else the access to freedom.

GOPDD: Sheriff Clarke Has Liberals Pissed Over His Free Gift for Black Lives Matter

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke is no fan or friend of the Black Lives Matter movement, and he has made his thoughts on the movement quite clear through his commentary and observations regarding the group’s disruptive behavior over the past couple of years.
He has repeatedly referred to the group as “Black LIES Matter“, as he contends that the movement is largely based on an agenda-driven false narrative.
But it would seem that perhaps Sheriff Clarke has decided to reach out a friendly, gift-bearing hand toward the group of disruptive and obnoxious anti-cop protesters, according to the Independent Journal.

In the case of two al-Shabaab terrorists who killed a journalist, a wife and mother of seven children, they sentenced them to life in prison.
The two terrorists appealed the court’s sentence of life imprisonment. They stood before the court and stated their case.
The judge considered all that they had to say, rolled it around in his brain, and decided that he agreed with them—life in prison was not fair. It was not fair to the public, that is.

Now, that’s Darwin Award material right there! Two Russian men decided to go fishing with… grenades. Any bets that they drank a whole bunch of Vodka before doing this? Mix alcohol with a low IQ and you go boom! Boris and Ivan stand at the ready on the side of their boat. Only one holds a grenade, so I’m not sure why the other has his arm out as well. Instead of throwing the grenade and waiting for fish to float up, they dropped it right by the boat.
