TRUE OR FALSE!!!!!

I want to take a look at the myth’s the Town Council has been told about the Lisbon Communication Center.

1. The phone number to call in an emergency is 353-2500.

The correct phone number to call in an emergency is 911. 911 is the official state number to report all emergencies. By using 353-2500, causes a delay in reporting emergencies to the Lisbon Communication Center and delays the dispatching of First Responders.

This is false because 911 is the correct number to report all emergencies.

2.   All 911 calls go to the Lisbon Communication Center.

All 911 calls for the Lisbon/Durham area go directly to the Androscoggin County Dispatch. The County Dispatchers login in the call to the state NEXGEN911 system. If it is a medical emergency, they gather addition information to create an Emergency Medial Code to be passed on to First Responders to expedite treatment and to increase chances of survival. Once this is completed, Lisbon Communication Center is notified, if the County can get through, by using 353-2500. Once the information is passed to the Lisbon Communication Center, First Responders are dispatched to the scene.

This is false because the County has to notify Lisbon Communication Center once they receive the 911 information. Absolutely no 911 calls go directly to the Lisbon Communication Center.

3.   Dispatchers need to be familiar with the Lisbon/Durham area.

There is absolute no need for Dispatchers to be familiar with the area they support. There are several reasons for this: (1) the equipment in Androscoggin County Dispatch pinpoint calls as they are received on computer screens. Dispatchers can watch as first responders arrive on the scene and remain on the line with them to direct response. These computers have maps with streets and building on them so it is easy to identify locations. Lisbon Communication Center does not have this equipment available to them; 2. Androscoggin County Dispatchers normally dispatch local first responders who are very familiar with the area they are responsible for; 3. Were Lisbon Dispatchers familiar with Greene and Turner when Lisbon dispatched for them and the answer is no so the same principle apply.

This is false because the Androscoggin County Dispatch has equipment to identify location of callers and is able to direct first responders to the scene more quickly.

4.   The Lisbon Communication Center has an excellent record when it comes to dispatching first responders.

This is another play on words. The fact is response time is started the moment the Lisbon Communication Center receives notification. However, as it has been recorded, Androscoggin County Dispatch has had problems getting through to the Lisbon Communication Center because 353-2500 is busy. This is a major problem because if the Androscoggin County Dispatchers could notify our first responders directly this would eliminate all problems when it comes to response time. First Responders are dispatched as soon as they are notified.

This is true and false because it depends on how you spin it. The response time begins when the First Responders are notified. This response time could be identical if everything was equal but in Lisbon/Durham everything is NOT equal. Androscoggin County Dispatchers have got to notify Lisbon Communication Center prior to First Responders being dispatched. They are numerous times when Lisbon Communication Center could not be reached because 353-2500 was busy.

So providing the above FACTS how is it possible that the Lisbon Communication Center remaining open is in the best interest of the community and its citizens? Chief Brooks has used deception, intimidation, and misquotes to the Town Council in order to keep the Lisbon Communication Center open. Taxpayers are being forced to pay, in 2016-2017, $339,948.00 for a system that puts their lives at risk. Previous Councilors did some research and determined that closing the Lisbon Communication Center would save the taxpayers approximately $190,000.00 annually if the town contracted with the Androscoggin County Dispatch. However, this project was stopped after the dog and pony show orchestrated by Chief Brooks’s using uninformed people to influence the Council. The transfer to Androscoggin County Dispatch cannot be like throwing a switch and you have dispatching. The County has a lot to do and will take roughly 3-6 months to complete. However the technology is there and they are willing to accept Lisbon. Every day that goes by cost the taxpayers $931.36 so it is important that the town get started right away. Once switched over it will only cost taxpayers roughly $520.55 a day for dispatching.

Can anyone in their right mind tell me why Chairman Roger Bickford and the remaining Town Council wants to waited until November to get started? I know that Chairman Bickford wants the people to make this decision but it is going to be a NON-BINDING vote and we all know what that means.

We need to stop wasting tax dollars and do what is right for the community NOW instead of our friends.

How sad that the members of the town council do not work in the best interest

of the voters and taxpayers that voted them into office! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

When the interests of one or two are more important than the residents of

the town and taxpayers.

Did they even think about the consequences when coming up with this plan?

The Town of Lisbon aquifer is our best asset.

It needs to be protected.

My sister, now deceased, lived in Lewiston. I always took water from home,

Town of Lisbon water, whenever I visited her.

Has anyone tasted the Lewiston water? I supposed one gets used to it when

you drink it everyday, but I FOR ONE WOULD NOT WANT TO!!!!!!

Do we really need a Town Planner who does not work in the best interests

of our town and it's residents?

POOR DECISIONS BEING MADE BY TOWN COUNCIL!!!

Has anyone else besides me noticed that ever since Mrs. Lori Pomelow rewrote the Council Working Rules; the decisions made by the Council are poorer and poorer? It is very obvious and for the life of me, I have not been able to understand why this is. After this week’s Town Council meeting, I believe that I have figured it out.

According to the Council Working Rules, the audience can ONLY comment on agenda items during Audience Participation. This means that you have to address your concerns without the benefit of knowing why the sponsor wants to change the item. So when the agenda item comes up, the audience cannot comment on this item. A prime example of this is Agenda Item Zoning Amendment – Route 196 and Villages. The Council approved the first reading unanimously.

However, Mrs. Amanda Bunker addressed this item for the Planning Board and at no time did she mention when changing the zoning in Kelly Park to Village that this is right over the aquifer for our town water. She also failed to mention that if our water becomes contaminated that we will have to pay for pumping water from Lake Auburn. I believe that these are two facts that should have been mentioned to the Councilors prior to a vote because it might have an impact on their decision. Since citizens cannot speak during this time without begging the Chairman to speak, no one addressed these issues. There in is the problem.

Councilors are being asked to vote without knowing all the facts. These Councilors get there packets on Thursday night or just before the meeting and do not have sufficient time to do any research before they are asked to make a decision. This is the reason for the poor decision being made. Councilors need to have ALL the fact prior to making a decision. I know for a fact last October/November, four Councilors did not have all the fact prior to voting on Lisbon Communication Center. They just took Chief Brooks’ word for it. This was definitely a bad decision because it puts our residents at risk.

I have spent many long hours doing the research that these Councilors should have done prior to making the decision to stop working with Androscoggin County Dispatch and Sheriff Samson to consolidate the two units. As it stands right now, Androscoggin County Dispatch has to notify Lisbon Communication Center of an emergency situation in Lisbon or Durham when the right way to do this is to have Androscoggin County Dispatch notify OUR First Responders immediately upon receipt of a 911 situation. Second, Androscoggin County Dispatch has had problems notifying Lisbon Communication Center on 353-2500 because it is busy which causes a delay. Third, none of the dispatchers at Lisbon Communication Center are currently qualified as Emergency Medical Dispatchers and therefore are not able to render an Emergency Medical Code to the First Responders. This Emergency Medical Code is a gathering of medical information to provide quicker and better care to the victim. In an emergency, time is the most critical factor in a life or death situation. So having the dispatchers that receive the 911 call dispatch OUR first responders immediately, coupled with having Emergency Medical Dispatchers providing an Emergency Medical Code to the EMT enable a better chance of survival. The responsibility of the Town Council is to make sound decisions that are in the best interest of the community and NOT their friends.

I believe that the Council Working Rules were changed to keep citizens from providing vital information to the Council prior to a vote. This way the “Good Old Boys” network can control what they want for this community. I personally believe that Chief Brooks is very high up in the “Good Old Boys” network and this is why this communication center has lasted this long because as the previous Town Council estimated a cost saving to the town of approximately $190,000.00 tax dollars. Who, in their right mind, would not do everything in their power to save $190,000.00? So look closely at Chairman Bickford, Councilors Brunelle, Crafts, and Metivier and ask yourself why they are fighting so hard to keep the Lisbon Communication Center open. Whose side are they on?

Why is the Town Council NOT doing everything in their power to reduce our taxes? The answer is simple; they are controlled by the “Good Old Boys”.

Supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) protested what they viewed as unfair practices by Hillary Clinton’s supporters at the Nevada Democratic Convention on Saturday.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, the dispute between supporters of Sanders and Clinton began when a voice vote occurred to replace the convention’s temporary rules as permanent. Sanders’ supporters began to chant, “This is fixed!” and “No confidence!”
The Hill obtained video via Facebook and Twitter of some of the action that occurred.
Sen. Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.) spoke to the crowd and was booed by Sanders supporters. Boxer is a well-known backer of Clinton.

GOPDD: Target CEO Blames Climate Change, Not Bathroom Policy, for Hurting Sales

As retailer Target sees its stock plummeting and sales dropping in the midst of a boycott over its recently announced pro-transgender bathroom policy, the company’s CEO is insisting the weather is the cause of falling sales, not the company’s bathroom policy.
In a recent Wall Street Journal interview, Target CEO Brian Cornell pegged the downturn in the company’s fortunes to the cold weather as opposed to anything the company itself is doing or not doing.

The lawsuit, filed early last year on behalf of the Democratic Party of Virginia, sought to end Virginia’s voter identification law, known as SB 1256. The Hillary Victory Fund, a joint fundraising effort between the Hillary Clinton campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and 32 state parties, allows Clinton mega-donors to cut much larger checks than what can be contributed directly to candidates or committees by law. A single donor can give upwards of $700,000 to the fund.

GOPDD: Black Lives Matter Activist Arrested For Human Trafficking And Prostitution Recently Met With Obama

A member of the Black Lives Matter movement who was active in the protests in Ferguson, Missouri was arrested and charged last month with human trafficking and prostitution, Fox 2 reported Thursday.
According to court records obtained by the television station, Charles Wade, was arrested in April for allegedly hiring out a 17-year-old girl for sex in College Park, Maryland.

Barack Obama will become the first sitting president to visit Hiroshima later this month in an unprecedented move to push for a world without nuclear weapons.
The White House has cheered the move as an opportunity for the president to honor the dead of World War II, and more specifically those who died when the United States dropped the first deployed atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima.
But some retired U.S. veterans, including some from World War II, who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon about Obama’s forthcoming trip offered tepid if not critical perspectives of the move. Some characterized the trip as unnecessary and potentially damaging.
