FREE BEACON: Senate Democrats Block Funding for U.S. Troops, Veterans

Senate Democrats on Thursday blocked legislation funding U.S. troops and prevented a vote on a bill containing funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Senate Democrats blocked a vote on the fiscal year 2017 defense appropriations bill on Thursday for the second time this month, drawing ire from Republican lawmakers. The bill would appropriate funds for the U.S. armed forces, including funding that goes toward paying American service members.
“I am disappointed that Senate Democrats are irresponsibly blocking the defense appropriations bill. Delaying consideration of this bill jeopardizes our national security and military readiness,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R., Wis.), chair of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said in a statement.

The self-professed national minister of defense for the People’s New Black Panther Party has declared that they, along with other organizations have set a goal of setting up “our own government in a nation within a nation.”
Babu Omowale appeared in an interview with reporter Aaron Klein and said that a new “Black Nation” would be composed of five states: Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia.

The former speaker of the House wants to expel anyone who believes in sharia, a stance that misunderstands both the Constitution and Islamic faith.

Newt Gingrich effectively called for the deportation of all practicing Muslims from the United States Thursday night. His suggestion, which would almost certainly be unconstitutional, represents perhaps the most sweeping call for a religious test proposed by a mainstream political figure over the last few years, which have seen a strong backlash against Islam.

The local Fox affiliate in Memphis reported on the story which features the heroic efforts of a paramedic who managed, after nearly 30 minutes of delay, to get the child the care they needed

The Memphis Black Lives Matter rally shut down the I-40 bridge Sunday night with hundreds of protesters refusing to leave. Traffic could not go across, but paramedic Bobby Harrell with Crittenden EMS was determined to get to a child who was stuck on the bridge with his family

One would think that if everything were on the up and up, you would not have to tell everyone to keep their mouth shut. If there was nothing to tell, why gag those who know? This is the question all Americans should be asking in the wake of recent discoveries.

“GOOD OLD BOYS” CANNOT UNDERSTAND “NO”

On July 14, 2016, there will be, yet another, meeting on changing the zoning of Route 9. They are changing the wording from zoning to land usage but it all means the same. Apparently, the survey and last meetings held on Route 9 where the majority of the people stated they did not want Route 9 changed was not clear enough. Just because this was NOT the answer the Good Old Boys wanted to hear; we need another meeting to answer the same question. Question asked and answered several times!!!!

It is unbelievable that Good Old Boys Don Fellows and Chairman Roger Bickford do not understand the word “NO”. I do not know if it is the “N” or the “O” that is given them problems. Can someone explain it to them so the community can move on?

This is disgraceful to have repeat meetings after meetings when the outcome has always been the same. Why is it that the Good Old Boys continue to call for more meetings wasting residents’ time just because they did not get the answer they wanted? The solution is very simple. If Gina and Rick Mason want to sell used cars then Gina should ask her family for one of the numerous “Crafts” used car lots on Route 196. Problem Solved!

There are 23 Used Car Lots along Route 196 which is only 6 or 7 miles long. None of these car lots add to the town’s tax base. With Route 196 full with Used Car Lots, there is absolutely no need to do the same to Route 9. Route 9 is very scenic and the residents have invested a great deal of money in their dream homes. The reason they reside there is because of the zoning; now the Good Old Boys want to change that for them.

No matter how you word it, the question has been asked and answer, so stop wasting every ones time and concentrate on other pressing town matters like lowering taxes. Wouldn’t it be nice to have our taxes go down for a change? This is not impossible if we get rid of the Good Old Boys and actually do what is needed to reduce taxes in town.

A good start is close the Communication Center and save approximately $190,000.00 tax dollars. Cut the salaries of Department Heads until they get the needed qualifications or credentials for the job they are performing and save approximately $50,000.00 to $75,000.00 tax dollars. These are a few examples to reduce taxes. I am sure that Councilors can come up with more ideas of their own.

Lewiston – The Lewiston CareerCenter, a Maine Employment Resource Center located at 5 Mollison Way, in Lewiston, hosts a monthly Job Fair featuring over 30 employers. The event is held the first Monday of the month from 10:00 a.m. until noon and is open to the public at no charge. Hillary Clinton and the State Department objected to a request to depose Clinton in a public records lawsuit on Tuesday, arguing that her testimony is not necessary in the case.
Judicial Watch, a government watchdog group that has been suing the State Department for records from Clinton’s tenure, asked a federal judge last week to allow its attorneys to depose Clinton. The group, which was granted discovery earlier this year, has been seeking to determine whether Clinton’s private email server was used to intentionally circumvent public records laws.
In a response filed with the court on Tuesday, Clinton’s attorneys called the request “futile” and argued that the former secretary of state has already publicly addressed questions about her use of a private email system.

Hasim Nzinga, the chairman of the New Black Panther Party, said members of his group will carry firearms during protests at the Republican Party’s convention in Cleveland, if allowed by law, because they’ve been threatened and need to defend themselves.

“If it is an open state to carry, we will exercise our Second Amendment rights because there are other groups threatening to be there that are threatening to do harm to us,” Nzinga said, Reuters reported. “If that state allows us to bear arms, the Panthers and the others who can legally bear arms will bear arms.”

Rotary District Governor Joly to Address Fellowship 7.28

Lewiston –District Governor Jean-Louis Joly will visit the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club at noon at the Ramada Inn, Lewiston, on Thursday, July 28. Joly has been a Rotarian since 1998. He has participated in the Rotary life as President of his Club in 2005-2006. He served as a Group Study Exchange (GSE) Team leader in 2008 in Vénézuela. He served as GSE co-chairman for four years for his District and was in charge of Rotaract during three years. Joly also served as Assistant District Governor (ADG) from 2012 to 2014. Joly served as President of the International Committee for his Club from 2013 to 2015. Joyfully he has assisted at the Rotary International Convention of Montreal, Bangkok and Lisbon.
