American Legion officers were told that they needed to remove their jackets at a Dave & Buster’s in Michigan because it showed evidence of gang affiliation. Yep, you read that correctly, apparently, the American flag is now being equated to the Hell’s Angels.
The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, servicemen and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States. Membership swiftly grew to over 1 million, and local posts sprang up across the country. Today, membership stands at over 2.4 million in 14,000 posts worldwide. The posts are organized into 55 departments: one each for the 50 states, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines.

The Daily Mail reports that the Obama team is setting up shop at the posh $5.3 million mansion in the Kalorama section of D.C., referring to it as a “nerve center.”

The Congressional Black Caucus PAC (CBC PAC) spends lavishly on upscale resorts and hotels, catering at exclusive restaurants, and on fundraising and Broadway tickets, according to a review of campaign finance records.
The CBC PAC, which is the fundraising arm of the Congressional Black Caucus, puts far more money towards administrative and fundraising purposes than it donates to candidates, the intended purpose of the political action committee.
The CBC PAC claims its mission is to increase "the number of African Americans in the U.S. Congress" and to "support non-Black candidates that champion our interests, and promote African American participation in the political process-with an emphasis on young voters," according to its website.

Trump released his first budget proposal today and it puts an end to Obama’s military sequestration. According to the Wall Street Journal, Trump is looking for a 10% boost in military spending. Trump also wants offsetting cuts from nondefense agencies.
The budget proposal calls for a $54 billion increase in defense funding with offsetting funding cuts for nondefense agencies. Nondefense agencies likely to get hit include foreign-aid funding. This is in keeping with Trump’s desire for our allies to start paying their fair share.

Donald Grant, Featured Guest Speaker March 16 at LA Rotary

Lewiston - On Thursday, March 16, at the Ramada Inn, Lewiston, Donald Grant, of Grant’s Bakery, will be the featured guest speaker at LA Rotary. Grant has been working at the bakery since age 9, when the bakery was located just a two floors below his bedroom. Grant, has his hands in most parts of the business. Most frequently one will see Grant upstairs in the store--decorating cakes or making pastries. Grant has been an active Rotarian since April 1978. He holds an Associate Degree in Business Administration from UMA, 1976. Grant served as Rotary President from 1995 to 1996 and is a Paul Harris Fellow. He has served on numerous committees and participated in the Rotary Haiti Mission Trip in 2012. His assistance with the Maine State Parade, Balloon Festival, auctions, Christmas tree sales, and more, speak to his Service Above Self. Most recently, Grant has an active behind the scenes contributor and proofreader of the 100^th Anniversary program of events for the Club’s gala celebration scheduled for Saturday, April 22. Grant’s Bakery will be providing guests celebrating the milestone a culinary cake masterpiece, designed exclusively for 100^th Anniversary event.
