If you are a concerned citizen of the Town of Lisbon, please read the proposed changes to the Town Charter. The changes proposed by the Town Council, Town Manager Steve Eldridge and Chief of Police David Brooks are truly frightening. The changes will be discussed at the September 2, 2008 Town Council meeting, and will go to a referendum vote. From what we understand, the Town Attorney, Roger Therriault, wants to lump questions together, which will make things more difficult to decipher. Don't wait for a referendum to be involved. Attend Town Council meetings. Voice your opinion. THIS IS YOUR TOWN. If the Town Charter changes are approved, this will no longer be your town. The town will be governed by 4, I repeat, FOUR people. The Town Manager, Chief of Police David Brooks and two Town Council members, one of whose vote on the town budget is illegal because of a conflict of interest, which would no longer be a conflict of interest in a proposed change in the Town Charter. A Totalitarian Regime with 4 people having utter control of all departments in the town. It will no longer be a democracy. Is this what you want for YOUR town? Please see Dot, or call, and sign the Petition for Recall.
