The recent theft charge dismissal by the DA against Dan Feeney is intriguing. It tells us more about the Androscoggin DA and the Lisbon police than Feeney. While we would all like to see the town get it's money back, the $32,000 is small compared to being unsure what happened or who the bad guys are. The police and DA , after a six month investigation, charged Feeney but absent a confession could not prove it . Now they claim a larger and deeper investigation is underway.
Should the same people who `botched' the first one be leading this investigation? Many believe Feeney is guilty of nothing more than conflict of interest (something the Town Council would understand). Please click on the title for the newspaper article.
Perhaps we should be cheered by the fact that Lisbon Police Chief David Brooks appears involved and confident, as in telling the Times Record 'I am sure Feeney is involved and we are going to get him'. So much for letting the facts lead us to a conclusion, huh! The DA is even more incompetent and we'll probably never know what happened. Maybe Brooks will consult with the Town Council and it's toady lawyer.
