Lisbon's Own Politico Pundit, Dale Crafts Reacts To Rumors!

Help the workers, not DeCoster

Published:
Tuesday, June 14, 2011 2:08 PM EDT
Rep. Dale Crafts, R-Lisbon, sponsor of a controversial bill that would take away workers’ right to unionize at the Jack DeCoster-owned Quality Egg of New England farm in Turner, offered a surprising argument last Thursday that he hoped would persuade skeptics to support LD 1207.

Speaking to MPBN reporter Susan Sharon, Crafts revealed that the right to unionize was an obstacle in a rumored sale of the Quality Egg farm to a subsidiary of Land O’ Lakes Inc. Crafts essentially argued that passage of his bill could facilitate the sale and thereby hasten an end to DeCoster’s long history of workplace safety and labor violations in Maine — a good thing, he implied.

“The non-starter of the negotiation is the contractual abilities to unionize,” Crafts told Sharon in her June 9 report.

The problem with that argument is that it asks us to trust that the rumored sale would go through and is not simply a ploy by DeCoster to get rid of the threat of unionization imposed by a 1997 law in response to widespread labor violations at that time. Even a cursory glance at DeCoster’s  40-plus-year history in Maine — a highlight being the $3.6 million fine levied by the federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration in 1996 for unsafe working conditions (later negotiated down to $2 million) — should give lawmakers ample reasons for not wanting to be “enablers” of a businessman whose actions demonstrate he can’t be trusted.

Another reason to be leery of Crafts’ disclosure of a possible sale are the coy follow-up statements made by both spokespeople for both Quality Egg and Land O’Lakes spokeswoman.
http://www.timesrecord.com/articles/2011/06/14/opinion/editorials/doc4df78f3e37882954844284.txt

Believe us, there are a whole lot more reasons to be leery of anything that Crafts' says.  And we will be bringing more information in the very near future.

Another Government Department Bumbles Billions

Social Security made improper payments in 2009 to the tune of $8 billion
Social Security made $8 billion in improper payments in 2009. The administration forked over $6.5 billion in over-payments while underpaying some recipients to the tune of $1.5 billion, a government investigator told Congress on Tuesday.
Of the over payments, $4 billion were under a supplemental income program for the very poor, Patrick P. O’Carroll Jr., the inspector general for the Social Security Administration, told a congressional panel.
"By any standard, the scope of these problems is considerable,"  Rep. Charles Boustany (R-La.), chairman of the House Ways and Means Oversight subcommittee said, according to the Associated Press.
"Regardless of whether a payment occurs because of simple error or outright fraud, improper payments harm Social Security programs in the long term, jeopardizing benefits for those who may need them in the future. They also cost taxpayers billions of dollars each year," Boustany said.

Who Polices The Police? Sound Familiar Lisbon?

 Corruption & Abuse

Who serves who?
Reigning in police abuse

If you've never shared one of our pages before, this is a good place to start.

Amazing to see this on a so-called mainstream new media outlet.

We really do have a problem with our police. Not all police officers of course and not all departments, but the trend is not good.

By the way, "massive firepower" is now the doctrine for most police departments. In other words, they know most of their officers couldn't hit the side of a barn (they don't want to train them and police don't want to be trained), so the idea now is to spray and pray.

The recent shooting in Miami was reckless in the extreme. 60 to 100 rounds fired at a car in the middle of the street in a crowded area. Inexcusable.

It was a miracle more innocent bystanders weren't hurt.

Lisbon – Twenty members of Lisbon High School’s Community Service Club were officially sworn in as charter members of the newly formed, re-organized LHS Interact Club.  The students were presented with the LHS Interact Club Charter by Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Vocational Service Chair, William Denehy.  “Rotary’s commitment to service and youths would not be complete if we did not also nurture healthy social values such as civic-consciousness, caring for others, and concern for the environment at an early age which is possible through the formation of Interact Clubs,” shares Denehy.  “Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people ages 12 to 18.  The program gives teens an opportunity to participate in meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills.”  Students accompanied by LHS Principal, Kenneth Healey, and Community Service Club Advisor, Monica Millhime, attended the induction ceremony on Wednesday, May 11 held at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston as invited guests of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club.

“LHS students were previously affiliated with the local Lisbon Rotary for many years as a co-curricular club.  As a former Rotarian, in June of 2008 the Lisbon Rotary fellowship group reluctantly relinquished their Charter to Rotary International due to economic conditions and a decline in membership,” commented Healey.  “Without sponsorship of a local club for our high school students we created the Community Service Club.  Today, thanks to a new partnership with the LA Rotary Club, Lisbon students will once again have the opportunity to be members of an Interact Club.”  Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12-18.  Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs which provide support and guidance to students.

Prime example of current Food Stamp Program Flaw

QUESTION:   Do we really need ‘any’ more taxes or do we need to totally stop the abuse of the system by the leeches of America and the rampant spending of our so-called congressional leaders?

Doesn't this give you a warm fuzzy knowing those who have to solicit  governmental assistance are able to eat well this weekend...

Latest Scam to hit Maine and other areas

Maine credit protection bureau warns of scam

GARDINER, Maine — A company claiming to be located in Maine that has offered loans by telephone and over the Internet is a scam, say state financial regulators at the Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection.
The company, which uses the name North Lake Equity Group, has been telephoning consumers in several states offering personal loans if the consumers make several payments to the company in advance. The caller knows a great deal of financial information about the consumers, perhaps from unauthorized access to their credit reports, according to a news release from the bureau.

The company representative, using the name William Gibson, claims that the company is located on Sanford Road in Wells, Maine.  However, the Wells Police Department indicates that no company by the name of North Lake Equity Group exists at that location. The company is not registered with the town of Wells as a business, nor with the Maine Secretary of State’s Office as a corporation. The address is fictitious, and corresponds to an undeveloped lot between Wells High School and the Wells Town Office.

Consumers from Kentucky, Florida and Tennessee have called Maine’s Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection to ask whether the company is real.  One consumer had already paid $887 to the fake company, while another had provided bank account numbers and other personal information.

Political Leaders in Washington are Lost in a Sea of Debt

 Preface by:  Will E. Makeit

GOP leader warns economy will sink if debt deal isn't reached

By Russell Berman - 06/13/11 02:33 PM ET
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) on Monday warned of an urgent need to strike a deal to raise the debt ceiling, telling reporters that “we don’t want the markets to make this decision for us.”

Cantor, who is representing House Republicans in talks led by Vice President Biden, acknowledged there is a growing concern that financial markets will rattle and interest rates will spike if congressional leaders cannot reach an agreement before Aug. 2, the deadline the Treasury Department has set for lifting the nation’s $14.3 trillion debt limit.

The majority leader reiterated, however, that spending cuts and reforms are an essential requirement to a deal that the markets, and the public, find credible.

A New Tree Grows at Lisbon Community School

Lisbon —On Monday, June 13th, George Janosco, Sr., co-owner of Pine Knoll Lawncare & Landscaping with his two sons, joined Lisbon Community School’s fifth-grade class on their last day of school to present a very special and lasting gift to their teachers and school.

Pine Knoll Lawncare & Landscaping donated and planted a beautiful yellow butterfly magnolia tree along the entrance way to the school. The tree will grow 25 feet high by 25 feet wide and has a lifespan of up to 100 years.  The meaning of magnolia trees varies around the world, but magnolia trees often are associated with strength, beauty and love of nature.“In the years to come, when you return for a visit, you can remember this day, this tree, and the friendships you made here at LCS,” said Carlene Iverson, LCS’s principal.   “It’s wonderful that in these challenging financial times, Pine Knoll was willing to donate a tree to the school on behalf of the fifth grade students,” continued Iverson.
Amy St. Pierre, a fifth-grade teacher, shared her thoughts about the students’ last day at Lisbon Community School, “As teachers we hope that the students’ years at LCS have prepared them well for the future and we all wish them the best of luck as they now head to Sugg Middle School.”

White House takes "Hands Off Weiner" Approach

White House won't say Weiner should resign

By Sam Youngman - 06/13/11 11:32 AM ET
A White House spokesman said Monday that Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) is a "distraction" from important issues, but he stopped short of calling for Weiner's resignation.

White House press secretary Jay Carney, who refused to comment on the scandal last week, said Monday that "the president feels, we feel at the White House this is a distraction."

Ethnic Cleansing Long Over Due In America's Political Scene  and to think we have two summers ahead of us to watch and be even more disgraced.

10 Weiner rules for the Congressman that the rest of us learned in kindergarten (explicit)

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
For an entertaining departure from the norm, today we take issue with Rep. Anthony Weiner's claim that his recent actions were caused by him having a "sickness" for which he needs "treatment."
Maybe he only needs manners. Or maybe he should have learned what I'm now calling the "10 Weiner Rules" that the rest of us men learned in kindergarten. If you're up for some humor this weekend, read more (explicit):

Rule #1) (We just covered this one.) Don't show your wiener to the other schoolchildren. Even if you think they might be impressed.

Rule #2) Your wiener is not welcome to the party unless it is invited. No surprise show-ups.

Rule #3) "If you show me yours, I'll show you mine" is not a cool pick-up line. Not even if you offer to show yours first, it turns out.

Rule #4) The power of the wiener is nothing compared to the power of the press.

Rule #5) Your wiener is supposed to be camera shy. If it isn't, it's time to have a talk with it and explain a few things. This is called "counseling." Try not to video record this counseling session and post it on Youtube, or you just might get a million new amazed fans overnight.

Rule #6) If you get caught showing your wiener to others, it is not acceptable to use the excuse, "It's afraid of the dark and just wanted to have a look around..."

Rule #7) If your wiener had its own hands, it could send tweets for you. But since it doesn't, it can't. And that means YOU tweeted it, you twit.

Rule #8) Never send social networking messages with your mouse in one hand and your wiener in the other. Sometimes the mind confuses left and right and you end up submitting the wrong thing to the wrong place. Practice safe computing. (Corollary to Rule #8 - There is no UNDO function on Twitter.)

Rule #9) Whatever you get caught doing that involves your wiener, just scream, "I'm seeking treatment!" If you drool a little, too, this will earn you pity points instead of perv points. After your treatment, you can always announce you're "cured" and be called a hero for overcoming a serious mental disease. Then you can sell yellow "Wienerstrong" bracelets that young people wear as a fashion statement to feign support for your disease.

Rule #10) This is the most important rule: Never let little wiener do the thinking for big Weiner, because this tends to get big Weiner into trouble! This is actually a sensible rule for Congressmen, husbands and Catholic priests, come to think of it.

Organic vs. Conventional Produce

The new "dirty dozen" list of produce

By Sarah B. Weir

A new report published by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) might make you re-think that "apple a day" -- if it's conventionally grown using pesticides.
According to the group's annual "dirty dozen" list of fruits and vegetables with the highest pesticide residues, apples ranked number one as the most-contaminated item, up from number four last year.

Organic produce is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. However, organics can be harder to find and prohibitively expensive. If you are concerned about consuming pesticides, the EWG's dirty dozen and clean fifteen lists can help you make the safest and most affordable choices

Dirty Dozen 2011

Lisbon Officials Get Hit By "Water Cannon"

Brief recap of Tues. town council meeting.
Absent were Mike Bowie & Fern Larochelle.

It was nothing really special.  The same old 'scripted' dialogue from most.  BUT,  for local readers, be sure to tune in tonight (hopefully it airs) on local cable channel for the EXPOSURE of the Dasteredly Dealings of Lisbon Town Manager, Stephen Eldridge (watch him get all red n steamy) &  Town Lawyer, Roger Theriault ( he was in the hallway, just about doing backflips).

As Lisbon Water Department's, Paul Adams, Brings to the surface the MISREPRESENTATION of FACTS pertaining to the "Wellhead Protection Ordinance".  NOW everyone can see first hand for themselves, JUST WHAT REALLY GOES ON IN LISBON.

Oh, and one more tidbit,  seems now the "Lisbon Officials" have found the $32,500 Missing Money from  the Economic Development Department in Lisbon.   Really?  Please don't insult our intelligence by concocting more DRAMA for Lisbon.    Stupid is as Stupid does.  We know the difference.    It has been enlightening to follow the trail of corruption from Lisbon to say the least.

If anyone was to be seen rolling around in the local hardware store gleaming "Get some popcorn and pull up a chair"   Tonight would be the night,  Huh Dale?

Enjoy and Have A Nice Day! ! !

 (Natural News)

If you believe what the mainstream media tells you, you probably believe it's illegal to import coca leaves into the United States and use them to manufacture cocaine. But that's not true!

If you're Coca-Cola, then you have special connections, and your suppliers are granted DEA immunity to actually import coca leaves (by the ton!) and process them for Coca-Cola, producing a byproduct of cocaine that's sold to another powerful corporation in St. Louis. In the USA today, this process produces over 300,000 grams of cocaine each year.
Don't believe me? I've got the whole story fully documented using public sources. This is the truth about Coca-Cola, coca leaves and the so-called "War on Drugs" in America. Read more:

FDA sends US marshals to seize elderberry juice concentrate, deems it 'unapproved drug'

(NaturalNews) Wyldewood Cellars, a Kansas-based producer and distributor of elderberry juice, is the latest raid target of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which recently sent US marshals to the company's winery in Mulvane to confiscate the "unapproved drug." According to the rogue agency, Wyldewood had violated provisions in the US Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) that restrict health claims for food items, warranting the sudden invasion.

According to Barry Grissom, US Attorney for Kansas, the FDA sent a warning letter to Wyldewood in 2006 to remove or modify certain health claims that it said were in violation of federal law, but the company did not comply. FDA officials claim that Wyldewood continued to make unapproved claims, and that seizing the product was the next step.

However, John Brewer, co-founder of Wyldewood, says that after receiving the initial FDA warning letter, his company hired a consultant familiar with FDA regulations to help his company reword their product descriptions. After making the appropriate changes, and clarifying that the elderberry products in question were supplements, Brewer says his company had done what it needed to in order to be in compliance.

"We haven't heard anything from (the FDA) since," he told reporters, noting that following the changes up until the raid, the FDA had ceased communicating with Wyldewood. "They've been in our facility multiple times. It's like, 'C'mon guys, we changed our label, we changed everything we thought we were supposed to do.' And then they show up and do this. (Supplements) seems to be one of their hot buttons these days."

This tactic, of course, has become all too common in recent years. A company receives a warning letter from the FDA, makes the appropriate changes, never hears anything further from the FDA, and out of nowhere gets raided. Such actions on behalf of the FDA are ultimately unwarranted and illegal, and the offended parties have every right to sue the agency for damages.

"You think you are doing things correctly, and there hasn't been any word, and all of a sudden you get this," said Brewer to The Kansas City Star.

Factory Farms Formulate Food Fodder

Who created the e coli strain in Europe?

All signs point to man-made origin

Over 20 people dead and over 2,100 ill, many gravely.

Where did this strain of e coli come from?

It's never been seen before.

It is immune to eight different classes of antibiotics.

This means the original strain was exposed to eight different strains sequentially with each immune strain being exposed to the next drug until immunity was developed to that.

This only happens in laboratories.

What laboratory did this, how did it end up on a German sprout factory - and most importantly, why was this done?

The last question will be answered when new laws and new technologies are imposed to "solve" the problem.

Puppy Size

Puppy Size
This is one of the neatest stories you will ever hear. You will know precisely what this little girl is talking about at the end (you'll want to share this one with your loved ones and special friends)!

'Danielle
Keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back to this animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since we started all of this,' the mother told the volunteer.

'What is it she keeps asking for?' the volunteer asked.
'Puppy size!' replied the mother

'Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for..' 'I know..... We have seen most of them, ' the mom said in frustration...

Just then Danielle came walking into the office

'Well, did you find one?' asked her mom.

'No, not this time,' Danielle said with sadness in her voice. 'Can we come back on the weekend?'

The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed

'You never know when we will get more dogs. Unfortunately, there's always a supply,' the volunteer said.

Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door. 'Don't worry, I'll find one this weekend,' she said.

Over the next few days both Mom and Dad had long conversations with her. They both felt she was being too particular. 'It's this weekend or we're not looking any more,' Dad finally said in frustration.

'We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size, either,' Mom added.

Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday morning . By now Danielle knew her way around, so she ran right for the section that housed the smaller dogs.

Tired of the routine, mom sat in the small waiting room at the end of the first row of cages. There was an observation window so you could see the animals during times when Visitors weren't permitted.

Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically to take a closer look.. One by one the dogs were brought out and she held each one.
One by one she said, 'Sorry, but you're not the one.'

It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup. The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully picked up the dog and held it closely. This time she took a little longer.

'Mom, that's it! I found the right puppy! He's the one! I know it!' She screamed with joy. 'It's the puppy size!'

'But it's the same size as all the other puppies you held over the last few weeks,' Mom said.

'No not size... The sighs. When I held him in my arms, he sighed,' she said.
'Don't you remember? When I asked you one day what love is, you told me love depends on the sighs of your heart. The more you love, the bigger the sigh!'

The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn't know whether to laugh or cry. As she stooped down to hug the child, she did a little of both.

'Mom, every time you hold me, I sigh. When you and Daddy come home from work and hug each other, you both sigh. I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms,' she said. Then, holding the puppy up close to her face, she said, 'Mom, he loves me. I heard the sighs of his heart!'

Close your eyes for a moment and
think about the love that
makes you sigh. I not only find it in the arms of my loved ones, but in the caress of a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gentle brush of cool air on a hot day..

Take the time to stop and listen; you will be surprised at what you hear. 'Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take Our breath away.'

I hope your life is filled with Sighs!!!

Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends! Life is too short and friends are too few.

Life is  too short to wake up with regrets.
Love the people who treat you right and forget about the ones who don't.

Maine Legislature Cuts their own budget

Legislature cuts own budget, bolsters security

By Mal Leary
AUGUSTA, Maine — Legislative leaders have voted to cut the Legislature’s budget by $8.3 million over the next two years while at the same time bolstering security at the State House.

“This actually is probably an historic legislative council budget,“ Majority Leader Jon Courtney, R-Springvale said Friday evening. “This is probably largest reduction from a previous year in, I would suggest, the history of the Legislature.”

The budget for the Legislature and its offices is $59.3 million in the proposed two-year state budget submitted by Gov. Paul LePage. The reductions in the legislative budget are mostly achieved through applying to lawmakers and legislative staff the same budget initiatives affecting other state workers such as suspension of longevity and step increases and changes in pension costs.

The leaders also voted to reduce out-of-state travel by 30 percent, suspend cost-of-living increases for legislators, reduce the length of each yearly session by a week, and required a task force look at additional possible savings.

“This is a reduction of about $8.9 million,” said House Speaker Robert Nutting, R-Oakland, the chairman of the council’s budget committee. “The appropriations for additional security bring that down to be about $8.3 million.”

And in Lisbon,  they will give out BIG raises and continue to rape the taxpayers.
But really it is FUNNY,  All but one councilor will approve this year's budget.
