On 8 July 2016, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsburg told the Associated Press in a wide-ranging interview that she didn’t want to think about the possibility of a Trump presidency. “I don’t want to think about that possibility, but if it should be, then everything is up for grabs,” she said. In the same interview, Ginsberg also promised to resign from the Supreme Court if Donald Trump was elected President of the United States. “There’s no need to beat around the bush, so I’m just going to go ahead and say it – I will resign my position as a Justice of SCOTUS if that happens,” she claimed.
Yet, it would seem that the esteemed Justice Ginsberg wasn’t telling the truth – or, if she was, somewhere along the line she decided to go back on her word. Moreover, after her statement made both national and international headlines back in July, rumors could be heard that she was planning to move to New Zealand in the event of a Trump presidency, so as to “get as far away as possible from that ghastly, obnoxious person.” However, Ginsberg not only hasn’t resigned her position at the Supreme Court of the United States following the election results, but she still hasn’t even bought a plane ticket to New Zealand. And by the looks of things – she’s not planning on packing her bags, either.
