As we leave Veterans Day 2015 behind, it’s a good time to salute retail giant Walmart for an initiative the company helped start — a campaign that shines a light of gratitude and serves to honor our veterans as well as to remind us all about the commitment and sacrifice they’ve made for America.

In the days leading up to the November 11 Veterans Day celebration, Walmart launched its “Greenlight A Vet” initiative to show how grateful we are for the 2.5 million veterans in the United States.

GOPDD: IOWA: Knoxville City Council voted to remove a Veterans Memorial because the cross on it offended some people

So, on Election Day, Knoxville residents voted to remove something of theirs – the City Council members who voted to take it down.

Breitbart On November 2, the city council in a small Iowa town voted to remove a temporary memorial to fallen soldiers from a city park. The memorial was removed because an outside group complained to the city that the memorial featured a Christian cross. Only a day after the council voted to remove the memorial, the town voted to remove the council members.

Based on the complaint of a single citizen of Knoxville, Iowa, the anti-Christian group Americans United for Separation of Church and State swooped down on the city with a threatening letter, demanding that the town council remove a temporary display to veterans that had been placed in the city’s Young Park.

MARK LUNT LISBON
Three Lisbon Town Council seats are up for grabs on Nov. 3, including a District 1 seat. Kasie Kolbe is running against incumbent Mark Lunt. Both participated in a candidate event at the town office last week.

A popular topic was the 2015-16 Lisbon school budget, which the council has cut three times and sent on to referendums where they failed each time. A fourth budget validation referendum awaits voters Nov. 3.

Kasie Kolbe said she works hard and researches “just about anything and everything to make any major decisions” and doesn’t “leave any stone unturned.”

Before the body of Ambassador Chris Stevens was recovered the Obama administration was scheming to deceive the American public about the Benghazi attacks.
The lifeless body of Ambassador Stevens was later dragged from the Benghazi US consulate after it came under attack by Muslim extremists on September 11, 2012.

Do you favor an $85,000,000 bond issue for construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation of highways and bridges and for facilities and equipment related to ports, harbors, marine transportation, freight and passenger railroads, aviation, transit and bicycle and pedestrian trails, to be used to match an estimated $121,500,000 in federal and other funds?

In 2012, Maine’s Legislature revamped the goals set out in state law for the quality of the more than 23,000 miles of roads that carry Maine residents and visitors and the goods they depend on from Point A to Point B.

Do you favor a $15,000,000 bond issue for the construction of new energy-efficient affordable homes for low-income seniors, the adaptive reuse of structures for homes for low-income seniors and the repair and weatherization of existing homes for low-income seniors, which will create jobs and will be matched by an estimated $22,600,000 in private and other funds?

Ninety percent of seniors want to live at home. But the death of a spouse, a disabling medical condition or an unexpected costly house repair can make this impossible for many seniors. Too often, however, when a senior is ready to move to a more manageable, affordable apartment, he or she faces a long waiting list.

The latest collection of private emails turned over to the State Department by top Clinton aides over the summer may also contain classified information, an attorney for the U.S. Department of State said in court on Tuesday.

D.C. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan ordered the State Department in May to comply with a public records request from Citizens United by this month, but the department pressed the court on Tuesday to extend the deadline until December.

While Judge Sullivan did not grant or deny the extension, he questioned the slow pace and ordered the State Department to conduct a preliminary search by early next month.
An attorney for the State Department attributed the delay to the fact that Clinton aides Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills did not turn over many work-related emails from their private email addresses until this past summer. These documents are only now being processed by the State Department.

A former West Point instructor who has called for American critics of the “war on terror” to be imprisoned or executed as traitors suggests that the U.S. military would be hailed as the “constitutional and political savior” of the country if it overthrew the civilian government – and a surprisingly large number of Americans may agree with him.

Legal scholar William C. Bradford, who was forced to resign from his position as an instructor of law at West Point in August, has privately circulated a draft of an unpublished law review article entitled “Alea Iacta Est: The U.S. Coup of 2017.” An abstract of that essay posted to Bradford’s LinkedIn page adumbrates a scenario in which a U.S. president – presumably, Barack Obama – becomes an undisguised “tyrant” who must be replaced by a military junta.

HERE WE GO AGAIN ------JOE HILL

Here we go again. Yesterdays 3rd Budget election "NO" vote triggered another costly election. Luckily the next election won't cost as much as the last three elections.

There is absolutely no reason for this "NO" vote other than pure greed and spitefulness. The budget has already been committed and can't be changed so any further elections are a moot point. I believe yesterday "NO vote" was the School having a temper tantrum. They didn't get their way so they will make it cost as much as possible for the rest of us.

What is the point of this ? Is the School trying to increase the tension between the School Department and the town? Are they doing this to set the stage for next years Budget Battle? Are they trying to take money away from another town department? Possibly they want the money from the winter salt budget or they want to take money from the Library. Who knows

This is a hostage situation pure and simple. And I for one am ashamed that Lisbon has this greedy "special interest group" that gives Lisbon a bad name.

The Reverend Franklin Graham had some harsh words for President Obama and the folks in the White House who have been putting together a reception for Pope Francis’ upcoming visit to America.
Just last week news broke that the Vatican had taken exception to many of the people that the White House had invited to a reception being held in honor of Pope Francis’ visit to our nation. Among the guests were a number of transgender activists, an openly gay Episcopalian bishop, and an activist nun who leads a group that the Vatican has criticized for not speaking out on abortion or euthanasia. Also adding to the disrespect was the fact that the White House had still not invited any of the leaders from many of the pro-life organizations that the Roman Catholic Church partners with in the US.

GOPDD: Obama Blamed For Death Threats Against Police, Teachers in Muslim Student Clock Case

Mayor Beth Van Duyne of Irving, Texas is blaming death threats received by Irving’s police chief, police officers, teachers and school administrators on President Barack Obama for his hasty support before the facts were known. Fourteen-year-old high school freshman Ahmed Mohamed was briefly arrested after bringing a suspicious ‘briefcase clock’ to school last week.

Mohamed’s claim to have made the clock himself has been exposed by experts as a hoax. The experts state Mohamed took a manufactured digital alarm clock (a 1986 Radio Shack Micronta brand clock-radio) out of its housing and placed it in a pencil box that made it look like a briefcase bomb.

When you've lost New York, you've lost some serious blue street cred. A new Siena College poll reveals that the deeply Democratic state now dislikes their former senator Hillary Clinton more than they like her.

In the overwhelmingly Democratic state, 51% of the registered voters polled said they held an unfavorable view of the Democratic presidential front-runner, while 46% said they held a positive view of her. In a Siena poll released in July, Mrs. Clinton’s favorable rating was 56% and her unfavorable rating was 40%.

Donald Trump, Republican presidential frontrunner, was grilled Sunday by Jake Tapper regarding his reluctance to correct a comment deriding Muslims several days ago as well as his views on President Obama’s faith and place of birth. His answers are refreshingly concise and forthright:

Jake Tapper, host of CNN’s “State of the Union,” called an audience member’s comment — “we have a problem in this country; it’s called Muslims” — at a Thursday rally for Trump “raw, unvarnished, ignorant bigotry.”

FREEDOM FORCE: Obama Kicked Hundreds Of Kids With Cancer Out Of A White House Park

Hundreds of children sick with cancer along with their parents were forced by President Barack Obama’s Secret Service to leave a park near the White House Saturday night after the group had planned a candlelight vigil.

The event was part of CureFest for Childhood Cancer, a two-day event to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer cures. The group of nearly 700 attendees received all the permits they needed to hold “A night of Golden Candles” in Lafayette Park, but were still forced to leave, The Washington Post reports.
