You had to be up bright and early this morning in order to see this sight. Apparently no one on duty this morning at Lisbon PD had a sense of humor.
The LHS Athletic Boosters' Club has been working hard for the last three weeks raising funds by shepherding roving flocks of flamingos. To give residents of the community a smile and thank them for their support, all the flocks were moved to the Town Office last evening for a grand finale. However, Detective Tapley removed them shortly after 5:30 AM this morning. The Boosters' were told he did not know where the flamingos had come from, even though the PD had been notified of the fundraiser over four weeks ago.
The Boosters' have always been supportive of Lisbon PD, even allowing them the use of the football concessions for D.A.R.E. Patriots Alumni Football games. Apparently, that sentiment is not reciprocated.
In a time when school funding to the sports programs is under constant scrutiny, Lisbon Athletic Boosters’ Club promotes Lisbon High School athletics through fundraising and donations from parents, the community, and local businesses to provide Lisbon High School athletes and teams with the funds for equipment, uniforms or other items that the school’s budget does not cover.
The Boosters' wish to thank all residents who suppported the Flamingo Flocking and the spirit in which it done. GO GREYHOUNDS!
