PING Golf Clubs.................

I think this is something that all golfers should be aware of. In fact, I think all Americans should be aware of this. According to http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/ping.asp this story is true.

This isn't a joke or cartoon; just something interesting to know..................

On Monday, I played the Disney, Lake Buena Vista course. As usual the starters matched me with three other players. After a few holes we began to get to know each other a bit. One fellow was rather young and had his wife riding along in the golf cart with him. I noticed that his golf bag had his name on it and after closer inspection it also said "wounded war veterans". When I had my first chance to chat with him I asked him about the bag.

His response was simply that it was a gift. I then asked if he was wounded and he said yes. When I asked more about his injury, his response was "I'd rather not talk about it, sir".

Over a few holes I learned that he had spent the last 15 months in an army rehabilitation hospital in San Antonio Texas . His wife moved there to be with him and he was released from the hospital in September. He was a rather quiet fellow; however, he did say that he wanted to get good at golf. We had a nice round and as we became a bit more familiar I asked him about the brand new set of Ping woods and irons he was playing. Some looked like they had never been hit. His response was simple. He said that this round was the first full round he had played with these clubs.

Later in the round he told me the following. As part of the discharge process from the rehabilitation hospital, Ping comes in and provides three days of golf instruction, followed by club fitting. Upon discharge from the hospital, Ping gives each of the discharged veterans, generally about 40 soldiers, a brand new set of custom fitted clubs along with the impressive golf bags.

The fellow I met was named Ben Woods and he looked me in the eye and said that being fitted for those clubs was one of the best things that ever happened to him and he was determined to learn to play golf well enough to deserve the gift Ping had given him. Ben is now out of the service medically discharged just a month ago. He is as fine a young man as you would ever want to meet.

Ping, whose products are made with pride here in America ( Arizona ), has the good judgment not to advertise this program. God Bless America and the game of golf.

Lisbon Town Council Cannot Stand Criticism, Even When They Are Proven Wrong!

LISBON’S TOWN COUNCIL STOPS CRITICISM

At last night’s town council meeting, Chairman Fern LaRochelle made it perfectly clear this council will not be embarrassed again publicly.  Chairman LaRochelle decided to enforce the ridiculous council working rules written by Lori Pomelow.  According to the council working rules, no one can bring up any item not on the agenda.  Mrs. Pomelow eliminated the “New Business” item on the agenda so now the people are restricted to only addressing what is on the agenda.  Apparently, Chairman LaRochelle and the council do not like it when errors committed by the town are brought out to the public, such as the LLC owing back taxes and the flaws in last year's budget. 

Now in order to get an item on the agenda, the people have to first come in 30 minutes early on days of council meetings and discuss the situation with a councilor and then it will be up to the councilor to put it on the agenda or not.  Now what are the chances of any item that shows errors in judgment made by any town employee or town councilor being added to the agenda to be addressed in public?   This is yet another attempt at keeping the truth from the people.  This council does not want anyone to know what shady dealings go on in this town. 

 

Town Manager Stephen G. Eldridge

There are members of the council I believe really want to do what is best for this community but they are handcuffed by Chairman LaRochelle and Stephen Eldridge, town manager.  These two individuals do not want the truth to come out about their backdoor dealings.  

 This is exactly why everything is conducted in Executive Session and the people are never told what is going on.  Also, the council screwed up last year’s budget, which ended up costing the citizens a tax increase, and the council wants to continue screwing the residents without any interference from individuals like me.  This was and is directed towards me because this council is tired of being embarrassed by the information I bring out in the public hearing.

Any councilor which supports this clear violation of the people’s right to bring up their concerns in an open hear is as gutless and useless as they come.   

Chairman LaRochelle and Stephen Eldridge lie to the other members of the council and continue to pull shenanigans on both the councilors and the people.  It is inconceivable to me that the remaining councilors cannot see through the crap they are being feed by these two.  There is absolutely no integrity or honesty on this council at present.

We, the people, need to start taking back our community by calling our councilors and tell them how disgusted we are with the shenanigans being conducted in our name.  Stifling the voice of the people is not the right answer.  Correcting the corruption as it is identified is the right way.

Please pass this information on to your neighbors and friends, so everyone in Lisbon knows what our councilors are doing, as our representatives.

So You Think You Can Ride A Motorcycle! ; Isle of Man ~Tourist Trophy~ (Amazing Motorcycle Footage - 200 mph)

This is an Isle of Man camera video done really well. It lasts about five minutes. 

Keep in mind that this is the last true motorcycle road race in the world.  

Each lap is 37.75 miles long with over 200 turns.  And the record for a single lap is over 130 MPH. There are straight sections where the bikes hit over 200 MPH.

It Is hard to imagine such riding speeds but they do it every year at the end of May and have been doing so since 1907.

There have been over 240 rider fatalities in the history of the event but it is bigger than ever today. Two riders were killed during the 2012 events.

The helmet cam video over the last minute or so of the clip is breathtaking. This event makes car racers look like a bunch of wussies.  Even Sir Jackie Stewart is amazed by what he is seeing in the video.  BTW, former Formula One World Champion John Surtees won this event before he switched from motorcycles to race cars.
