Tim Sample and MDIFW Day– A special combo on Saturday, June 19th!

Tim Sample and MDIFW Day– A special combo on Saturday, June 19th!

Widely acknowledged to be New England’s premier native humorist, Tim Sample’s books, albums, and videos (including four albums and a video for the Bert and I company) have sold well over a million copies. Over the years, Tim has performed thousands of shows in venues as diverse as the Los Angeles Convention Center, the Mall of America, the New York Yacht Club & the Caribou Performing Arts Center.
Tim Samples’ show times at the Wildlife Park today will include two 50 minute performances between 10:30am-12:30pm. This family show is locally sponsored by several area businesses and organizations, including the Gems of Route 26, Cole Farms Restaurant and Friends of Maine Wildlife Park. The wildlife park is extremely grateful for their support!

In addition, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife’s programs, projects and personnel will be showcased from 9:30am-3:30pm today. The Department is charged to preserve and protect the fish and wildlife of the state, for everyone to enjoy. Hunting and fishing are a part of Maine’s outdoor heritage; but more and more Maine citizens are as or more interested in watching, feeding and photographing the wildlife that call Maine home.

Whether you are watching a bald eagle soar, photographing a moose; enjoying loons and other waterfowl; or catch a glimpse of a bobcat; watching wildlife is popular with hikers, kayakers, bicyclists, picnickers, state park visitors, back yard bird feeders and those just out enjoying the woods and waters of the state.
These folks, who do not directly financially contribute to our wildlife and habitat preservation programs, need to know more about what the Department does, to ensure their enjoyment of Maine’s abundant wildlife both for now and into the future.

Wildlife and fisheries biologists, safety officers, hatchery staff and game wardens will be on hand and in person, to talk about their fishery, wildlife, safety and enforcement programs and projects throughout the day. Come and learn what we do, and how we support the habitats and populations of all of Maine’s wildlife…..making Maine a better place for people, too!
All of today’s events are scheduled to proceed rain or shine.

Wouldn't It Be Great

WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S. PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

"My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of the Iraq regime has been completed.
Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short . The United Kingdom , Spain , Bulgaria , Australia , and Poland are some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains every one not on the first list. Most of the world's nations are on that list.. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening. Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war.
THEN EVERY YEAR THERE AFTER IT'll GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO IT WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.
The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hell holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption. Need help with a famine ? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France .

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home . On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth..

Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France or maybe China .

I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France , Germany , and Russia .. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bonne chance, mezamies.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York

A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change.

Mexico  is also on List 2 its president and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple extra thousand tanks and infantry divisions sitting around Guess where I am going to put 'em? Yep, border security.

Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska- which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, 'darn tootin.'

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America It is time to eliminate homelessness in America . To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank you guys. We owe you and we won't forget.

To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn to speak Arabic.

God bless America .. Thank you and good night."

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.

Teacher's Tenure Taken To Task

In bold move, Colorado alters teacher tenure rules
 By COLLEEN SLEVIN
DENVER - Colorado is changing the rules for how teachers earn and keep the sweeping job protections known as tenure, linking student performance to job security despite outcry from teacher unions that have steadfastly defended the system for decades.
Many education reform advocates consider tenure to be one of the biggest obstacles to improving America's schools because it makes removing mediocre or even incompetent teachers difficult.

Subj: Re: POLITICO Breaking News

Obama has threatened, cajoled, helped BP's stock to plummet causing our Allies in Britain , their stockholders to lose their Pensions  as we did after 9/11.  Obama is never re-active, he's pro-active meaning, he's always too late in doing everything.    He has his advisors, [Czars] the most intelligent, un-american people in the world, dictating his every move.  Remember, they have the best Degrees that Harvard can provide;however, oil cleanup? Wait! they have PHD's, belong to the intelligentsia,  His "Team"  have the brightest minds, etc.  Digging for oil?  Of course, we'll get on the drawing board and calculate anything.  Thank God!  Obama's team will save  us.  What would we do without "Pelosi, Reid and Obama?  Keep our freedom, which those three  couldn't care less about.

In a message dated 6/10/2010 5:55:49 P.M. Central Daylight Time, breakingnews@politico.com writes:
POLITICO Breaking News:
-----------------------------------------------------

President Barack Obama is inviting top officials from BP, including its chairman of the board, to meet with him in Washington next Wednesday, incident commander Admiral Thad Allen said in a letter to the company Thursday. Since the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Obama hasn’t met with BP Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg or BP CEO Tony Hayward.

Every time he opens his mouth chaos results. All the brains he may have, don't work if you can't apply common sense.  He is not at all, "A people person" , someone who is tactful, who accomplishes without irritating and agitating, resulting in riots.  This is exactly what he did with Arizona.  Before he, or Holder read the Bill,  they crucified a Governor, trying  to protect her citizens. Stern sent out his SEIU goons, with , most assuredly, approval of Obama, to incite the populace into rash actions.  His Democratic comrades defended him, not her, making things worse.  I hope they pay in November. He's done the same with BP. It does no good to infuriate everyone, including the British citizens, until the problem has been solved, Then go after them when you know for sure what caused it.  His friends are now trying to destroy BP service stations!  What good to destroy a local businessman's life.  He's not helping anyone.  He's killing our relations all over the world except, the Muslim Countries he's placating.  Let's remember "Three Mile Island" do you give up on Atomic Energy? The coal mine accidents?  Do we stop digging?  This is an "accident" what occurred in the Gulf.  Don't overreact until the source of the problem is determined. The SEIU infiltrating every opportunity to create chaos is no accident.  Stern is the boss, he sends them out and Stern is Obama's closest confidante.  Unless Obama was aware, Sterne would not allow it. Electrical Emissions Harm Us

New research: Electropollution can cause diabetes (type-3)

Thursday, June 10, 2010
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

(NaturalNews) Most people are familiar with type-1 diabetes and type-2 diabetes, but did you know researchers have discovered a third type of diabetes? Type-3 diabetes, as they are calling it, affects people who are extra sensitive to electrical devices that emit "dirty" electricity.

Type-3 diabetics actually experience spikes in blood sugar and an increased heart rate when exposed to electrical pollution ("electropollution") from things like computers, televisions, cordless and mobile phones, and even compact fluorescent light bulbs.

Dr. Magda Havas, a PhD from Trent University in Canada, recently published the results of a study she conducted on the relationship between electromagnetic fields and diabetes in Electromagnetic Biology and Medicine. In it, she explains how she and her team came to discover this about why electropollution is so dangerous for many people.  Read more->>

JASON LEVESQUE ON PRIMARY RESULTS AND GENERAL ELECTION

JASON LEVESQUE ON PRIMARY RESULTS AND GENERAL ELECTION
2nd District Congressional Candidate Congratulates Fellow Winners, Eyes General Election

Auburn, Maine – 2nd Congressional District Candidate Jason Levesque this morning offered his fellow republican nominees congratulations on their success in moving on to the November general election in Maine. Jason, who did not face a primary challenge, released the following statement.
“First, I want to thank all the great people that ran in yesterday’s primary.  I learned so much from each of you and thank you for your past and continued guidance. The fact there were so many people willing to fight for Maine, willing to take this very difficult step to run for office, is both a  tribute to this great state and a sign that people are ready to fight for what we believe in.
“Congratulations to all of last night’s winners on both sides of the political aisle.  I look forward to the vigorous debate and exciting campaign we will all be conducting as we spread our messages to the people of Maine. Specifically, a hearty congratulations to our Republican nominee for Governor, Paul LePage. I truly look forward to campaigning alongside you as we try to bring some fiscal responsibility, accountability and the people’s voice to Augusta and Washington.
“Now, the general election begins and we must stay focused on our message and make sure the people of Maine understand where we stand on the vital issues facing us today. My opponent Mike Michaud and his colleagues are ignoring the will of the people. He calls himself a “Representative” but doesn’t realize his constituency is not Nancy Pelosi and her partisan interests…it’s us.
“We want jobs, not a trillion dollar failed stimulus. We want real health care reform, not another trillion thrown at yet another problem--which will ultimately do nothing to reduce costs or open access.  We want the government to reduce spending, not hike the debt ceiling when they run out of cash so they can spend more.   We want immigration reform and the enforcement of existing laws. Mike Michaud, this is what the people you represent are asking of you.  If you do not listen to us now, you will hear us in November.”
Best regards,

Jason Levesque

School's Out For Summer

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER EVERYONE!

Lisbon's Last Budget Workshop Before Approving Municipal Budget

By Todd Comber

Last night I attended the scheduled budget workshop that only lasted for about an hour and ten minutes.  It was just a continuation of past years where figures of 'potential' revenues are manipulated on a spreed sheet to project the monies needed to continue the services Lisbon is so famous for.   And it was very clear again, by the performance of  Town Manager  Steve Eldridge and his manipulation of the spreed sheet, that Council Chair Mike Bowie is the most versed and familiar with the operation of the Town budget.

No one really knows much until the land revaluation process is complete and the tax bills come out in August as to just what the new mil rate will be.  There was a limited discussion on it going up and going down.  All hypothetical in nature because the data is still being put into the new program by Assessor Dow.  And that process is roughly 50% complete according to Eldridge.

SO the discussion towards the end of the meeting turned to who wants to cut the budget and how to do it.

Councilor Cote opened that portion by wanting to cut the Police Budget by $200K.  But never went anywhere as he had NO support from the other (6) councilors.   Gina Mason who so openly stated recently that she felt there were cuts to be made in the budget never spoke.  Dale Crafts  never chimed in.  Fern Larochelle said something but really amounted to nothing.  Lori Pomelow had a concern about $90k  of overtime in the Police budget but relinquished  and approved.  Mark Lunt increased the snow removal portion for next year.

NO other areas of the budget were discussed.  The budget advisory board,  What have they done?  Nothing but 'rubber stamp' their approval of it.

Where to Cut the Municipal Budget?

Well based on the following information that the Androscoggin Regional Communication Center Committee had to work with, it seems clear to me that there is a lot of money to be cut from the Police Budget.

So you decide and then contact your councilor.  YOU know the one you voted for and ASK, TELL or DEMAND that they DO something.    But better then that,  start planning now for this November and bring forth some great candidates to run for the three Town Council positions that will be open.

"That's my story an I'm sticking to it."

Three Families Escape Fire In Lisbon

A fire erupted in an apartment building forcing three families out.  Thankfully no one was injured.  Lisbon's Fire Department did "another great job" of containing the fire.  Neighbors helped the victims and some had to run through flames to safety.  A very scary experience. The fire was held to a porch on the second floor.  Smoke detectors alerted residents, however, some didn't sound according to article.

REMINDER:  Check to make sure your smoke detectors are working on all floors.

Let The Campaign Begin

Andover, ME – Independent candidate for Governor Kevin Scott would like to congratulate the winners of the Democratic & Republican primaries.  Having traveled about Maine for the last 5 months meeting and speaking with all of the candidates, I can honestly say it has been a great experience.  Now the campaign begins.
The National Party voters have gone to the polls and made their decisions.  What is important to remember is this: Maine has 358 thousand un-enrolled voters who were not able to voice their opinion on either candidate tonight.  November 2nd is a day when un enrolled voters will decide who our next Governor is.
With 57% of the precincts reporting, the Republican primary motivated approximately 65 thousand voters; the Democrats rallied approximately 56 thousand voters. Now look at question one, 138 thousand people voted on question one and an equal amount voted in all of the bond issues.  It is the candidate who can appeal to and capture these un-enrolled voters who will be our next Governor.  Judging from the primary contest results, the successful candidate for Governor will be an outsider who is also a fiscal conservative with a very moderate and open-minded social policy.
If you add up this quick read of the voter’s choice, a true reflection of what our next Governor will look like starts to emerge.  The Republicans picked a fiscal conservative with a conservative social message.  The Democrats picked a true socially liberal from the established political class.  In my view, it seems like Maine’s best choice for Governor will be a truly Independent, fiscally conservative candidate with moderate stands on social issues.  Let the campaign begin.

Twice Now

For the second weekend in a row the crew at the Lisbon Transfer Station have been left to pick up a mess created when some person(s) discarded their trash after the site was closed for the weekend.  Access was gained by 'jumping the fence'.   Sometime after the station was closed on Saturday, either Sunday or Monday, the individual(s) scaled the fence and proceeded to leave their garbage in closest bay they could find.

Then the wild critters get into it an strew it all over the place.  This just makes a mess and creates more work for them.
With the addition of single stream recycling, it has become real EASY to recycle items.  But it takes an effort on everyone's part and efforts like this, of 'chucking' your trash after hours is not a respected effort.

TSI (Transfer Station Investigators) agents are busy sifting through the evidence left behind by the perpetrator(s).

Need Help With The Vote Tomorrow?

How to Vote Like a Mainer

  • By: Al Diamon
According to the pollsters and mass media, Maine voters are both angry and confused. They want to throw the bums out, but at the same time, they don’t know who they want to throw in. They want to send Augusta a message, but they don’t have a clue what it should say. They want liberal doses of change in conservative quantities.
Allow me to try and sort it out, all the better to help you cast your vote on Tuesday, June 8.
On the ballot for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, there are seven choices:

Town Council Budget Workshop June 8

Town Council Budget Workshop
June 8, 2010

7:00pm Town Office

Just wanted you to know you have a choice on Tuesday‏

Russell W. Pack announced that he is running for the Republican nomination for the District 17 State Senate seat, including Turner, Leeds, Greene, Minot, Mechanic Falls, Wales, Sabattus, Livermore, Livermore Falls, Lisbon, and Lisbon Falls.

Mr. Pack, his wife Rachel whom he married in Livermore at the North Livermore Baptist Church, and their two sons live in Turner where he is the owner and manager of A&R Construction Co., a small business specializing in residential and military construction. He also works as the Health Safety and Environmental advisor to Mistras Services Inc., a premier inspection and engineering company that operates along the North Slope of Alaska, above the Arctic Circle. A premier inspection and Engineering Company.

Russ served in the U.S. Army for thirteen years, with tours of duty in Germany, in Korea with the 2nd Infantry Division and in Operation Desert Storm with the 7th  battalion of the 6th Infantry Division when it spear-headed the Seventh Corps drive into Iraq and engaged the Republican Guard’s Medina and Takanowa Divisions.

After the end of his service he worked in the nuclear inspection and safety industry, qualifying as a Nuclear Inspector and Quality Engineer, and eventually the Nuclear Utilities Manager for the second largest inspection and engineering company on the planet, with 39 offices and over 1200 inspectors. Russ knows how to manage multi-million dollar contracts, offices, and employees while making a payroll. Russ has the experience to make the tough decisions when he gets to Augusta.

Russ has long been active in his community. He is cofounder of “A Christmas Wish for the Troops” which collected over 12,000 gifts for our troops overseas last year. The charity aims at a bigger total this year. He is also founder of the Mesa Project, non-profit corporation organized to reinvigorate Maine’s economy and job market through developing both proven and future energy resources. He says this as critical to reversing Maine’s steady economic decline.

He is a Mason, and a member of the NRA, VFW in Jay, the American Legion in Turner, the American Society of Military Comptrollers, and the American Petroleum Institute. Russ received an “A” rating from the NRA. He is a strong Second Amendment candidate. There is no higher rating to be earned.

Russell Pack says this about why he is running: “I am a pro-government candidate. I believe that our state government must limit it activity to what it is competent to do and what private enterprise is not suited to do. I think it should be worthy of the respect and trust of its citizens.  I do NOT believe it exists primarily to collect taxes, and more taxes. It cannot meet its core obligations to our children, and to the mentally and physically challenged if it allows the economy to be choked by multiplying taxes and regulations.”

Russ does not believe the Democratic incumbent was paying attention to his constituents or his proper priorities when he voted for gay marriage and for the jump in the beverage taxes. His was the deciding vote after he pledged to the voters that he would vote no.

Russell Will honor his promises. He will vote according to his conscience and best judgment and not according to the “strategies” of party leadership.  He will not make a spectacle of deception and dishonest dealing for his children. He is not running a campaign for a 15,000 dollar a year job to reduce our tax burden by using 26,000 dollars of taxpayers’ money to get the job as his opponent has chosen to do. For him the obligations of a father will always come ahead of any political ambitions.

Please consider Russ Pack this Tuesday, June 8th in the Republican Primary. Russ has the experience and judgment that we need in Augusta to turn our state around. You can learn more about Russ at www.packin10.com or on facebook. Please take a moment to learn more about Russ and vote to make a difference in Augusta on Tuesday.

As submitted by candidate.

Think We Can Change The Earth

"Occasionally another attack of common sense and logic makes its way to the surface despite the constant attempts at fear mongering from left wing liberals types, some with not so hidden agendas. and those who want to make money from those fears.  Our earth has, will, and continues to control her own destiny.  Look up active volcanoes of the world on the Internet.  From the huge one in Chile just a year or two ago, to here in our backyard where in Hawaii and Wyoming we have two of the most active volcanic areas of the world spewing various emissions constantly.  Heck, remember Mt. Saint Helen's.  Another example of just how much carbon the earth can really absorb.  For you "believers" this may be a little harsh.  I didn't write it, but I do find it very interesting!"

For all of you out there in America and across the globe who have fought so hard to tackle the hideous enemy of our planet, namely carbon emissions, that bogus god you worship named "Climate Change" or "Global Warming",  there is some really bad news that will be very painful for you to process. But it is my duty to pass it on to you anyway.
Are you sitting down?
Okay, here's the bombshell. The current volcanic eruption going on in Iceland , in it's first week of spewing volcanic ash, NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past five years to control CO2 emissions on our planet.  Not only that, this single act of God, in it's first week, has added emissions to the earth estimated to be 42 times more than can be corrected by the extreme human regulations proposed for annual reductions.
I know, I know.... (have a group hug)...it's very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up til midnight to finish your kid's "The Green Revolution" science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, going on vacation to a city park instead of Yosemite, nearly getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your $1 light bulbs with $10 light bulbs ...well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just the first week.
The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth's atmosphere in the first week has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon.  And, those hundreds of thousands of American jobs you helped move to  Asia  with expensive emissions demands on businesses... you know, the ones that are creating even more emissions than when they were creating American jobs, well that must seem really worthwhile now.

I'm so sorry. And I do wish that there was some kind of a silver lining to this volcanic ash cloud but the fact of the matter is that the brush fire season across the western U.S.A. will start in about two months and those fires will negate your efforts to reduce carbon emissions in our world for the next two years.

So, grab a Coke, give the world a hug, and have nice day!

June 6, 1944 D-Day The Invasion of Normandy

. . . these men came here - British and our allies, and Americans - to storm these beaches for one purpose only, not to gain anything for ourselves, not to fulfill any ambitions that America had for conquest, but just to preserve freedom. . . . Many thousands of men have died for such ideals as these. . . but these young boys. . . were cut off in their prime. . . I devoutly hope that we will never again have to see such scenes as these. I think and hope, and pray, that humanity will have learned. . . we must find some way . . . to gain an eternal peace for this world. (Eisenhower: A Soldier's Life, by Carlo D'Este, p. 705.)

What was it like to come ashore during D-day?  How were the Allies able to accomplish their mission, despite formidable German defenses?  In this clip, African-American veterans recall events of June 6, 1944.

Soldiers, like those featured in this clip, were given little credit for their participation at the time of the Normandy invasion.  After the war, they faced ongoing discrimination when they returned home.

An Emmy-nominated documentary, about their participation, was finally made in 2008.  This is a clip from that work, entitled A Distant Shore: African Americans of D-day

Three Presidents Did It

Three Presidents did it, yet we never hear about it. This is very
interesting and I wonder why it was never brought up.

What did Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower have in common?

Here is something that should be of great interest for you to
pass around. I didn't know of this until it was pointed out to me.
Back during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover
ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make
jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work.

Harry Truman deported over two million ILLEGAL after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans’.

And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported
13 million Mexican Nationals! The program was called
'Operation Wetback'. It was done so WWII and Korean Veterans
would have a better chance at jobs. It took 2 Years, but they
deported them!

Now...if they could deport the illegal's back then - they could sure do it today.

lf you have doubts about the veracity of this information, enter
Operation Wetback into your favorite search engine and confirm it for yourself.

Reminder:

Don't forget to pay your taxes.

12 million Illegal Aliens are depending on you!

Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907

1907 PHOTO This one needs to circulate
I think this is one email that needs to be forwarded until every
American with a computer receives it.
The year is 1907, one hundred and 3+ years ago.

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

'In the first place,  we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us,  he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed,  or birthplace,  or origin.    But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American,  and nothing but an American.    There can be no divided allegiance here.    Any man who says he is an American,  but something else also,  isn't an American at all.    We have room for but one flag,  the American flag.    We have room for but one language here,  and that is the English language.    And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'
Theodore Roosevelt 1907
