A Brilliant Prophecy From 93 Years Ago

H.L. Mencken (born 1880 - died 1956) was a journalist, satirist, critic, and Democrat. He wrote this editorial while working for the Baltimore Evening Sun, which appeared in the July 26, 1920 edition.

"As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and complete narcissistic moron."
---H.L. Mencken, The Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920

So it was written and so it has come to pass. Thank you, Barack Hussein Obama.

Democracy and Political Ignorance: Why Smaller Government Is Smarter

Book Forum
November 6, 2013 12:00PM

Featuring the author Ilya Somin, Professor of Law, George Mason University; with comments by John Sides, Associate Professor of Political Science, George Washington University. Moderated by John Samples, Director, Center for Representative Government, Cato Institute.

One of the biggest problems with modern democracy is that most of the public is usually ignorant of politics and government. Many people understand that their votes are unlikely to change the outcome of an election and don’t see the point in learning much about politics. This may be rational, but it creates a nation of people with little political knowledge and little ability to objectively evaluate what they do know. Ilya Somin examines political ignorance in America and the problems it poses for democracy. He looks at various options for solving this problem, arguing that political ignorance is best mitigated and its effects lessened by decentralizing and limiting government. Somin provocatively argues that people make better decisions when they choose what to purchase in the market or which state or local government to live under, than when they vote at the ballot box, because they have stronger incentives to acquire relevant information and to use it wisely. WND EXCLUSIVE Now truckers convoy to D.C.

After bikers invade Washington, big rigs put hammer down in protest

author-image Bob Unruh

Bikers from across America roared into Washington Sept. 11 to get the attention of the White House and Congress with the message they’re really not fans of the “change America” themes pursued of late.
Organized through a loose coalition of Facebook pages and a contingent of volunteers who each took care of their own state, it resulted in official estimates of about a million motorcycles descending on Washington.
Now, the big rigs want Washington’s attention, too. And they’ll be coming in 18 wheels at a time, instead of two.
Once again, the plans are appearing on a number of Facebook pages, where truckers say they are fed up with the changes in America and the administration’s failure to address adequately a number of economic issues that hit consumers hard. And they want something done.
One page, called Truckers to Shut Down America, calls for a three-day general strike by truckers Oct. 11-13.
It declares: “The American people are sick and tired of the corruption that is destroying America!”
Truckers are pledging not to haul freight on those days and say consumers can join in with truck drivers by staying home and not making any purchases.
Another page, called “1 Million Trucks to DC,” pledges to get as many truck drivers to converge on Washington, D.C., on Oct. 11 as possible.
The primary focus of the protest will be the price of fuel since Barack Obama has occupied the Oval Office.
Statistics show the average price of unleaded gasoline in the U.S. was $1.84 on Jan. 19, 2009, the day before Obama took office.

United States National POW/MIA Recognition Day September 20

The U.S. National POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed across the nation on the third Friday of September each year. Many Americans take the time to remember those who were prisoners of war (POW) and those who are missing in action (MIA), as well as their families. National POW/MIA Recognition Day is not a federal public holiday in the United States but it is a national observance.

Today, Veteran events will take place across the country. United States flags and POW/MIA flags are flown on this day and joint prayers are made for POWs and those missing in action. National POW/MIA Recognition Day posters are also displayed at college or university campuses and public buildings to promote the day. Remembrance ceremonies and other events to observe the day are also held in places such as the Pentagon, war memorials and museums.

The National League of Families’ POW/MIA flag symbolizes the United States’ resolve to never forget POWs or those who served their country in conflicts and are still missing. Newt Heisley designed the flag. The flag’s design features a silhouette of a young man, which is based on Mr. Heisley’s son, who was medically discharged from the military. As Mr. Heisley looked at his returning son’s gaunt features, he imagined what life was for those behind barbed wire fences on foreign shores. He then sketched the profile of his son as the new flag's design was created in his mind.

The POW/MIA flag is displayed on Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day, and many people display the flag yearly to show recognition and remembrance. The flag can be displayed at the Capitol, the White House, the Korean War Veterans Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, national cemeteries, various government buildings, and major military installations.

Across the country, local POW/MIA ceremonies are encouraged throughout POW/MIA Recognition Week, culminating with countless events and the national ceremony in Washington, DC, on Recognition Day. America’s POW/MIAs should be honored and recognized, rather than memorialized, with the focus on the need to account as fully as possible for those still missing, alive or dead. Strong, united support by the American people is important each day, honoring our POW/MIA personnel.

VetFriends.com sends our prayers to all who sacrificed, past and present, living and deceased. Your bravery and service has protected the American people, our freedoms and our great country. Thank you for your service.

VetFriends.com is here to honor and support all of you, our U.S. Veterans, military personnel, family and friends.

Thanks again & may your weekend be filled with Pride, Remembrance, Honor, & Tradition.

I watched it last night and knew I had to post it for you guys. Duck Commander's message is really simple, that people need to love God and love each other and he delivers it beautifully. He really is a fantastic preacher.

The PWS girl's soccer team loses a tough battle to Maranacook to fall to [0-2].

At the end of the first half of physical play, Maranacook
led by only one goal due to the Greyhounds maintainin
control of the midfield and possessing the ball.

Carly Dischler came close to tying it up on a direct
kick for PWS, but the Black Bears were able to make the
stop before the half. Siara Martin had an amazing
colliding save in the second half to prevent a goal with
the help of Sydney Douglass and Giana Russo.

Amanda Storman, Emma Houle, and Kiley Merritt were
aggressive on offense, but unable to get by the Black
Bear’s defense to find the net.

The Greyhounds will be at Hall-Dale on Tuesday,
September 24th.

Middle School Boys Soccer Results, 09/19/13, PWS vs Maranacook‏

The PWS Greyhounds' record slipped to [0-2] after a 1-3 score on a
Maranacook Black Bear's field.

The first would-be goal of the game was beautifully placed by a Noah
Austin to Jonah Sautter indirect kick combination only to be denied by
officials citing not enough ball rotation on first touch. The Black
Bears were able to get one past newcomer Goalie Levi Levesque but the
half would not end until the 'Hounds responded with Nick Austin
blasting one in high and left from just inside the 18 with Captain
Dylan George assisting. Elijah Spiro and Reece Rustad presented a
fierce defense but Maranacook still managed 2 more goals for the win.

The Greyhounds next game will be away at Hall-Dale on Tuesday,
September 24.

Marijuana Arrests Near Record High (FBI Study)

The Feds pay locals for every arrest

Thank you Obama...

This is the guy who spent his youth (and probably much later) smoking copious amounts of weed and by his own TV admission doing “a little blow.”

He promised to stop the insane waste of money and human life prosecuting marijuana cases.

What happened instead?

Arrests are at a historic high.

All races smoke weed at roughly the same rate, but who gets arrested and jailed? Blacks and Latinos, in some places at a rate EIGHT TIMES that whites.

Obama brings back Jim Crow. What a legacy for the first “black” president.

(He’s about as black as John McCain.)
