De Ja Vu! Bradley Has History of Logo Contests

We conducted some research on Ms. Bradley's work history and we found some very interesting information. It seems that Ms. Bradley also did a logo contest in Rumford when she was working as the secretary for the River Valley Growth Council. Now that she has run out of things to follow up on that Jennifer Norris had started, she is turning to the past. That is what happens when you get hired to do a job that you are not qualified for. How sad, how very sad.

According to the Sun Journal, Ms. Bradley started a logo contest in May of 2003. If you are interested in reading that story, please click here. About two months later, she wrapped things up with a logo that was never used and still is not used to this day. In the meantime, she spent all her time on this project and helping to organize a business expo which are clearly administrative assistant tasks only. This is an embarrassment to our community. You are trying so hard to prove yourself that you are making yourself look like a fool. We hired a hospital volunteer to do brain surgery.

She was hired by the our current town manager and given a raise of $18,000.00 over the previous Economic Development Director who worked full -time and had a BS and a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Management. What has $60,000.00/year for 3-day work-week for an employee with only an Associates Degree bought Lisbon? Why are we paying her for her time to go to school when our town budget can't and shouldn't financially support this endeavor? Why is she paid a full time salary for part time work hours, and a higher salary for less experience and knowledge? A case for a more appropriate salary can be argued by pro-rating her position based on hours worked, experience, and education. Even at the same rate the last Economic Development Director made - 42,000.00/260 working days per calendar year = $162 per day. A 3-day work week at the same rate would be approximately $25,200.00 annually or a savings of $34,800.00 to the town. $60,000.00 or $25,200.00. Taxpayers, which one do you think is fair?

What is her experience to warrant such a high salary? Her minimal experience working in Rumford and even less, approximately 10 months in the Town of Fairfield? Her minimal experience holding the position as Executive Director of The River Valley Growth Council and The Technology Center or her employment as an Executive Secretary for the Chamber of Commerce or the 5 years she worked in the paper industry? She has more experience as a secretary than as an Economic Development Director.

And, Ms. Bradley, could your timing be more off? In a time in our town, when our number one priority is to get rid of you and your boss, you are going to try and make yourself look good by spending all of your time working on a logo contest for the Town of Lisbon.

Family Dollar was not an initiated business by this employee, that business was already in the development process when she was hired. The bridal shop that was referenced in the Economic Development report presented at the 9/16/08 Town Council meeting was in business and established prior to this employees hiring as well as the Aubuchon Hardware expansion project.

What has happened? Celotex mill is closing. What was done from an economic standpoint to assist in maintaining this long standing employer/business in remaining in the Town of Lisbon?Realizing that Economic Development is a crucial piece to helping our town generate revenue and growth, what exactly with fact and data, has this position provided to our town?

Give it up Bradley. Your fake revitalization efforts and lame attempts at community building are pathetic. Please spare us with your lack of knowledge. It's hard enough knowing it but watching you prove it is just over the top. What's next? A Business Expo?
