Correction to School Committee Report

The Lisbon School Committee entered Executive Session to set the salary for the remaining year of Dr Welsh's contract.

When it was believed that Lisbon would be consolidating with SAD 75 and Durham elected to consolidate with Freeport and Pownal, the Union #30 School Committee voted to extend Dr. Welsh's contract an additional year which would have taken her into the new RSU and her salary would then have been set by the RSU Board. Because Lisbon became a stand alone district and Durham is consolidating with Freeport and Pownal, the salary for the remaining year of the Superintendent's contract needed to be set by Lisbon. The Commissioner of Education recently notified the School Committee that that vote needed to be accomplished by December 31, 2008.

When they emerged from that Executive Session, the Committee voted 4-0 (Debra Danuski had left) to offer the Superintendent a 1% salary increase for the remaining year of her contract. In light of the difficult economic times, Dr. Welsh accepted the offer.
