It was with great glee that I read the recent letter to the editor condemning The Lisbon Reporter. You know your doing something right when the oppositions starts crying and yelling foul. It was the same way here in Rumford when Mr. Eldridge tried to build his 3 million dollar Townmahall and his buddy the Fire Chief wanted a 2.5 million dollar new station.
We formed a citizen's group and someone started a blog and the truth got out. With our primary employer, New Page, struggling to stay afloat, we as a town would have been sunk if we had blindly followed his misdirections. We could not rely on the local old media to get out the facts so we used our Public Access Channel, a blog and postcards in a mass mailing to get out the word.
Since "that which is done in the darkness cannot stand the light" most of the bad actors are gone and we are working to rebuild. I applaud your efforts and I encourage you to continue regardless of the name calling, accusations and blubbering. Erosion is the most powerful force on the planet; keep washing away the lies and the sand castle will fall.
