A Possible Solution....

Dear Editor,

When the Lisbon Board of Selectmen and, in particular, myself decided to take over the defunct Farwell Mill project, a prominent Lisbon citizen told me that there was enough local talent in the Town of Lisbon and surrounding areas to complete that project. He was right! With the help of Hebert Construction Co. of South Lewiston, Jimmy Kelly of Enterprise Electric, the Crooker brothers of Harry Crooker & Sons, Dave Tebbets, Carl Huston, Conrad Davis, Ed Bush and many more, too numerous to mention, the project was successfully completed.

The point is that there are many talented people in the Lisbon area, and they stand ready to aid the Lisbon School Board in maintaining the portion of their accreditation that seems to be under attack by a group that is supposedly dedicated to academic pursuits. If the School Board needs some help to identify these people and maybe organize them, I would be happy to volunteer my help at no cost to the Town.

I implore the Lisbon School Department to not dismiss this obvious though probably temporary solution which the people of the Town of Lisbon could afford. Your expertise is, of course, in education—the teaching of our young. But this is not an education problem—it’s a construction problem that needs to be worked on by the construction professionals, especially those who live in the area.
