To The Editor;
Re: the "It's not only in Lisbon" published on May 7, 2009. Is it only me,
or is it a little reminiscent of back when the former town office building
on the corner of Main and Union Streets was all but condemned? TV stations
were there, showing the wet basement, mold, and on and on. Now we have a
'brand new' $2,000,000 town office building with a leaking roof, problems
with the heating system, and on and on.
The former town office building has been renovated, the leaking basement was
corrected, (not correctable, but corrected), by the town as it was not
disclosed at the time of sale. The building is over 100 years old, and, I'm
willing to bet, is in better condition than our new Two Million Dollar
building!
Some things never change.
