Part of a blog in the Portland Press Herald on Friday.
One of the PCA's that spends the night with my mother-in-law couldn't make it the other night. She ended up taking her 'very sick' 7-year old to the ER. The doctors couldn't figure it out, as it appeared that he had several things wrong with him. His mother demanded that that do blood work on him. When the results came back, they showed that he had Measles, Mumps, and another childhood disease (I don't remember which one). His mother told the doctor that he has had all his shots, so how could he have those three - and all at the same time. Well the doctors thought that maybe they were false positives and told her to bring him back in the AM. She brought him back, they drew blood, and it came back with the same three diseases.
Her son goes to a public school for children with disabilities (which is still in session), so she felt she should warn the school. They felt it important enough to have all the children tested. Guess what? The only child with the same illnesses was a male Somalian. She questioned the school personnel stating that she understood that all school children were supposed to have shots before being enrolled in school. She was told that Somalian children were exempt (they don't have to have shots, I'm not sure whether it's American shots, or any shots) due to religious reasons. It appears that these are stronger strains than what we would normally have in this country.
So, we can take all these people in, but again they don't have to comply with our standards, they can just bring in their childhood diseases, Aids, and anything else they want to bring in - including their driving habits, and we're supposed to accept it{?}. I've got to be missing something from the old method in which people came into this country and the new way they are coming in{????}.
Note: I see in today's paper that Afghan Muslims are suing Portland (I believe the ACLU is doing it) because they wouldn't allow them the use of a building for a mosque.
