The Worumbo Mill Project‏

The Worumbo Mill Project

If by some miracle, the town purchases the Worumbo Mill
property for a Waterfront Park, some have expressed concern
about money invested in the MTM Center Park for their popular
Concerts in The Park.
My response is, concerts would still be held at MTM. It’s a great
neighborhood area, residents can just walk over, it’s centrally
located. I don’t think a Waterfront Park would take anything
away from that.

A downtown waterfront park, adjacent to Route 196 would
give people to pause, drive in, and hopefully check out what
else is available in town. A kiosk with town businesses, and
attractions, history of Worumbo Mill and Hydro Plant, schools,
the MTM Center with all it has to offer, concerts at MTM Park
with a directory. A map and history of the town. We have so much
to offer.
“Build it and they will come”. And work on Lisbon Village next, the
forgotten area of town.

You never know until you try.

And, it can always be sold by the town if it doesn’t work out.
I see it as a bold investment for the town and it’s future.

Properties listed with a Realtor go on the Internet, and are available
to a wide and varied number of investors. I have spoken with the listing
Agent, and he is willing to work with us on the project, but he will
not be sitting back waiting for something to come his way. He will be
working with potential buyers. Once sold, we lose control.
If not sold in six months the mill and office buildings will be demolished.

Is this what we really want to happen?
