Michaud Pounces On Levesque

MICHAUD CAMPAIGN ATTACKS LEVESQUE’S INTEGRITY…
…with misleading spin

Auburn, Maine – According to a news website, Congressman Mike Michaud’s team is attacking Jason Levesque’s integrity with falsities in an effort to spin the 2nd District Congressman out of his own votes. According to a posting at DownEast.com, Greg Olson, campaign director for Michaud, sent two emails attacking Jason for print and radio ads he has been running in the district. The ads have mentioned that Mike Michaud voted for a ‘bailout’ along with the failed stimulus package and trillion dollar health care bill. According to Olson, these claims are untrue.

“Unfortunately, not everyone understands the importance of integrity. Mike’s opponent in Maine’s Second Congressional District race has recently started attacking Mike in radio and print ads, claiming that he is out of touch with what Mainers want. Among his charges, he says that Mike voted for the bailout even though his constituents were firmly against it. That is partly right. Voters in the second district did oppose Wall Street bailouts. However, Mike did too.” From Greg Olson in an email according to http://www.downeast.com/the-tipping-point/2010/august/conflict-maine-politics

Unfortunately for Congressman Michaud and his campaign director as Ronald Reagan said, “Facts are stubborn things.”

Apparently the litany of bail outs this government has voted for has confused even those in congress. Fact check: there’s been more than one.

“When you start to try spin yourself out of your own votes, you know you are in trouble. Mike Michaud ignored the will of the public when he voted for the auto industry bailout. Now, he has again betrayed the public’s trust and interest by misleading voters about his own record with Greg Olson’s emails,” said Alicia Preston, spokesman for Levesque for Congress.

She continued, “If Congressman Michaud and his team would like to engage in a conversation on the issues and Mike Michaud’s record, Jason and his team would be happy to do that. We’d just appreciate it if they were honest in the discussion.”
