Civil Rights Team Advisor Training‏

LISBON SCHOOLS CREATE SAFE SCHOOL ZONES WITH CIVIL RIGHTS TEAMS





Lisbon - On Monday, September 26, a training conference was held in Augusta for administrators, teachers, community advisors of Civil Rights teams within Maine schools.  Lisbon Community School (LCS), Philip W. Sugg Middle (PWS) School and Lisbon High School in Lisbon were represented during the training session.  Pictured (l-r) Lisbon High School Advisor, District Librarian, Katy Dodge; PWS Principal, Kate Race; LCS Assistant Principal, Ryan Patrie and Community Advisor for all three Lisbon Schools, Monica Millhime, also attended the conference.  Advisors were engaged in idea sharing and best practices were offered by the Attorney General’s Civil Rights Education team.  Attendees worked in groups planning and discussing the upcoming student training in November. Members of the Civil Rights team from Lisbon High School and Lisbon Community School will be attending the November training sessions in Augusta.   "Students and Advisors come away from trainings feeling energized and empowered to work toward creating and maintaining a supportive, safe and caring environment at school," comments Millhime.  Photo by Monica Millhime
