Lisbon – Members of the Civil Rights Team at Lisbon Community School along with Assistant Principal/Civil Rights Advisor, Ryan Patrie, and Community Advisor Monica Millhime, recently attended an all day training session in Augusta.   “Our Civil Rights Team at LCS is a school-based, co-curricular program addressing preventative methods and procedures to combat hate, violence, prejudice, harassment and bias,” shares Patrie.   The LCS CRT students meets after school twice a month to discuss ideas to create a safe school environment for all students.  Students will be embarking upon visiting businesses in the greater Lisbon community to better understand the broader scope of real-life experiences in the workplace and how important respecting rights of others are in and out of school.  "We are fortunate to have the support of the LCS Parent Teacher Organization, local businesses, parents and teachers who recognize the importance of intervention and peer building to reduce intolerance.  Students were energized after the training and felt empowered to work toward creating and maintaining a supportive, safe and caring environment at school," comments Millhime.    FMI on school programs and other events call 754.0021 or email mmillhime@lisbonschoolsme.org.  Like us on Facebook at Community Resource News in Lisbon Schools.
