________________________________________________________________________________
The problems at MaineHousing have been well documented.
The nearly $300,000 for one-unit "affordable" apartments, bonuses of
$1,000 handed out to all employees and the hundreds of luxury hotels,
massages, parties and political donations - all paid for with public
dollars.
Currently,
the Director of MaineHousing is accountable to no one. The Director was
appointed, and is in the beginning of a 4-year term as Director that
cannot be changed. LD 1778, Sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Jon
Courtney, would make the MaineHousing Director accountable to the Board
of Commissioners at MaineHousing.
If
you are concerned about what is going on at MaineHousing - please join
MHPC at the January 31st public hearing for LD 1778 and consider
providing public testimony in support of more accountability and
oversight for the Maine State Housing Authority.
If you plan to provide testimony, please bring 25 copies of your written testimony to submit to the committee.
