Recap Town Council Meeting - December 4th‏

RECAP TOWN COUNCIL MEETING – DECEMBER 4TH

Last night’s town council meeting was a historical one.  The council said goodbye to outgoing Councilors Michael Bowie and Lori Pomelow and welcomed in new Councilors Gregg Garrison and Dillon Pesce.  It will only take a short time to see if these new councilors will put the best interest of the town ahead of their personal agendas.    Congratulations to the new councilors and good luck in the future.  Councilor Mark Lunt was also reelected and we welcome him back.

During the meeting, four Bates College students gave an excellent presentation pertaining to the possible benefits of utilizing the rail road trails between Brunswick/Topsham and Lewiston.  There were several items such as the total cost and the total benefits to Lisbon still to be determined.  In fact, personnel interviewed in town were not really in favor of restoring this project.

Ryan Comier gave a presentation of the annual audit of the town.  As usual everything is perfect.  This is a yearly report.  I am going to leave it at that.  According to Mr. Eldridge, the report is going to be posted to the town web site so you can check it out for yourself.

The council approved the renewal of licenses for Coombs Mountfort American Legion Post and Slovak Catholic Association.

The council meeting dates for January 2013 have been changed to January 8th and 22nd .

The council was provided the Council Working Rules to review as homework.  There was supposed to be a discussion of the Water Department but the council had not received the information they were looking for and they are going to meet with our state representative this Friday.

Under the Town Managers report, Mr. Eldridge stated the town had issued a permit to bring down Graziano’s in Lisbon Village.   There is going to be a Luiggi’s Two replacing Graziano’s.  December 4th the Planning Board is going to open discussions on Route 196 corridor.  There continues to be work done on the MTM Center.  Also there are ongoing discussions on the Communication Center.
