Tyranny in Lisbon Maine

The  Lisbon  Maine Town Council, in an attempt to stop the hemorrhaging of  embarrassing information, has taken the drastic measure of eliminating all unapproved speech at Public Council Meetings.

Most governing bodies clean up their act when their transgressions are exposed. Lisbon Council tries to silence the messengers.


It appears Lisbon Councilors will not allow their subjects to criticize .............

•     Councilors family’s for taking illegal tax deductions. (and when caught they only pay back the amount of the deduction. (Everyone else pays interest on their past due taxes.)

•     Councilors for condemning property that they later quietly buy for pennies on the dollar.  ( Quasi legal but very immoral.)

•     Councilors that ignore the legality of their friends businesses and then when they get caught Councilors give these lawbreakers special privileges for two years, while the rest of us are expected to immediately comply with the  law. (2 sets of laws, one for them and an other set for the rest of us)

•     Councillors who vote on measures directly related to their own  recall.  (this was a deciding vote)

•     Councillors business that continually place their subjects and their children at risk by running massively overweight vehicles on streets intended for family vehicles.  Then expecting their subjects to pay for the damaged  streets. (Police never seem to catch them in the act.)

•     Councilors that continually give out money to businesses that quickly fail. Leaving the taxpayer on the hook for the losses. Councilors don’t recoup the losses by selling collateral that supposedly secured the loans.

•     Councilors that take property from residents for tax debt that is later found to be assessed incorrectly. (property still taken)

•      Councilors that vote on town budget items that could directly effect their own family’s income. (Have you ever heard of a Councillor biting the hand that feeds it?) 

I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. 

In the future do you think Lisbon Councillors will allow residents to speak about anything that jeopardizes their security, or highlights their unethical if not illegal behavior?  Do you think you will  be allowed to ask about the budget vote residents requested over a year ago.?

Call and/or email your Councilors and let them know they have gone to far and you will not stand for their tyranny.  Tell them your voice is just as important as theirs.

Don’t Let Lisbon’s  Councilors steal your right to speak.
