RECAP TOWN COUNCIL BUDGET WORKSHOP – MARCH 22ND

Tonight was the first round of budget talks for the 2016-2017 Municipal budget. Three Department Heads presented their budgets to Town Council for consideration. Keep in mind, these figures I am about to present to you represent the budget as of tonight and hopefully will change before the final budget is approved. The following are the figures for the three departments presented tonight:

Library – The Library is asking for an increase of $19,838.00.

Police Department – The Police Department is asking for an increase of $61,023.00.

Animal Control – The Animal Control is asking for an increase of $2,992.00.

Communication Center – The Communication Center is asking for an increase of $22,026.00.

Fire Department – The Fire Department if asking for an increase of $9,173.00.

If you add all these increases up and my calculator is correct; the total is $115,052.00. This is just the first three departments so you can see the Councilors have a lot of work to do.

These meetings are open to the Public so now is an excellent time to voice your concerns before the budget is approved and it is too late. Think about what these figures mean to you in relation to your next year’s tax bill.
