Auburn – Three students enrolled at MSAD 52 Adult Education in Turner, recently participated in a Ready2Work Personal Support Specialist, (PSS) and Certified Residential Medication Aid, (CRMA), Certificate Program hosted at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Students Paula Corriveau, Darlene Johnson and Melodie Saunders successfully completed five weeks of intensive training.  The 150 hour course was funded by a grant provided to Western Maine Community Action (WMCA), a partner in the CareerCenter in Lewiston.  Students acquired the work readiness skills for a certification in residential medication and a healthcare work readiness certificate that healthcare sector employers are seeking. Mock interviews, tours and other healthcare specific presentations were included as part of the curriculum.  “WMCA provides services to people in Androscoggin, Franklin, Kennebec, Oxford and Somerset Counties,” shares Patti Saarinen, WMCA Program Site Coordinator in Lewiston. “Many of our services are designed for low to moderate income people and dislocated workers.  Some services are available regardless of income.”  Additional information available at www.wmca.org.  “MSAD 52 Adult Education offers education and training services to students seeking to earn a high school diploma or equivalency, literacy for basic education and English Learning Language (ELL) participants, those looking to upgrade skills for college, and a certification in residential medication and a healthcare work readiness certificate that healthcare sector employers are seeking.
