Lewiston – Lewiston CareerCenter’s retired Veterans Richard Kowalczyk (left), and colleague, Mark Cater, review plans for the upcoming Maine’s Hire-A-Vet Campaign. The official kick-off date is Thursday, September 1 at the Augusta Armory, 179 Western Avenue. Opening remarks are scheduled to start promptly at 8:30 a.m. Kowalczyk is a Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Representative, and Cater is the Local Veterans Employment Representative. Both representatives assist Veterans throughout Maine. Currently they are working with the U. S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and other sponsors to provide support for employers to expand the hiring of Veterans. The event will feature a network of state and federal agencies, recruiting resources, and non-profit connections. The goal of the 2016 Campaign is to hire 100 Veterans in 100 days.
