Lisbon Community School Receives TD Bank Grant‏

Lisbon Community School Principal, Carlene Iverson, accepts a grant of $250 for the school from TD Bank employee Heather Purdy-Scroggins.  As a trained Volunteer with the Lisbon School Department, Purdy-Scroggins, assisted LCS teachers and staff through the Employee Volunteer Program at TD Bank.  Pictured left to right, Principal Iverson, daughter of Purdy-Scroggins, Katie, a third grade student at LCS, and Heather Purdy-Scroggins.  Photo by Monica Millhime.

Lisbon - TD Bank recently donated $250 to Lisbon Community School as part of the bank’s commitment to giving back to the community through its Employee Volunteer Program.

Lisbon Community School serves 600 students from Pre-K to grade 5. “The school will use the funds from TD Bank to purchase additional reading books,” shares Carlene Iverson, LCS Principal.    “Books will be used for classroom instruction that were eliminated from the school budget due to the reductions in state and federal funding.”

The grant funds of $250 were donated as part of the bank’s Employee Volunteer Program, in which donations are made to non-profit organizations in recognition of employee volunteer time with organizations.  TD Bank employee, Heather L. Purdy-Scroggins, volunteered 40 hours of personal time within the past year as an adult volunteer with the Lisbon School Department.

A staunch commitment to active involvement in the local community is a vital element of the TD Bank philosophy. TD Bank provides financial and other support to educational, community, human service, arts, and health-related programs, many of which focus on improving the welfare of children and families.

Rare Bird Sighting Update!

As recently reported on The Lisbon Reporter, a flock of flamingos was spotted reversing their normal migration pattern and heading north for more temperate weather conditions.  This flock was recently spotted wading along the banks of the Piscataquis River in Kittery, confirming the projected arrival the evening of April 5th.  If you are interested in donating a $10.00 delivery fee to make sure these flamingos find a safe habitat for that evening, call Kristy Sheehan for more information at 577-5398.

RSPCA - just takes a click to help - please do!

RSPCA - Free and Quick - please do it

Hi, all you animal lovers!

This is pretty  simple... Please tell ten friends to each tell a further ten today!

The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting  enough people to click on it daily so they can meet their quota of  getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals.  It takes less than a minute (about 15 seconds) to go to their site  and click on the purple box 'fund food for animals for free'. This  doesn't cost you a thing.

Their corporate  sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food  to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for  advertising.

Here's the web site! Please pass it along to  people you know.

Lisbon PWS Students Suspend Principal!‏

PHILIP W. SUGG MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
SUSPEND THE PRINCIPAL!
Story & Photo By:  Connor Craig
PWS Student Media Group Reporter
7th grade

From this to...

This!

Philip W. Sugg Middle School Principal, Jeff Ramich, was suspended to the wall by students at a recent school dance.  Proceeds from the event will benefit students with various programs and projects at the school currently not in the budget.

Lisbon - On Friday, December 11th the Philip Sugg Middle School students had their tickets sold and were ready to try to suspend Principal Jeff Ramich to the gym wall during the PWS PAG sponsored dance at the school.   The taping began at 7:00 p. m. and by 8:00 p.m. the boxes were pulled from under his feet and there Principal Ramich was suspended.  We did it!   “Although Principal Ramich was tremendously nervous prior to the event, in the end, while tapped to the wall, he was dancing to the music being played by the DJ,” said President of the Parent Action Group, Kathi Yergin.  The Parent Action Group sold 167 arms’ lengths of tape.  Connor Craig and Cody Campbell were the top sellers, selling 98 lengths each.  The students had a great time and hopefully next year we can try to suspend the principal sideways!
