ILLEGAL TAKING OF PROPERTY‏

I NEVER THOUGHT THE TOWN OF LISBON COULD SINK SO LOW

By now you have already read comments on the September 6, 2011 town council meeting.

This meeting was a prime example of Puppeteer Steve Eldridge at his best. He pulled the strings and his puppets, councilors Fern Larochelle, Michael Bowie and Lori Pomelow danced.

Mr. James Morreale owned 2 properties in Lisbon Village. Prime real estate locations, right on the corner of Lisbon Street and Village Street.
He is running a redemption business at at 231 Lisbon Street, and the property at 3 Village Street is a multi-family.

He is the first to admit that both are in need of repair.

The Town of Lisbon has his property at 231 Lisbon Street valued at $124,200.00. The 2009/2010 taxes are $2,608.20
The Town of Lisbon had his property at 3 Village Street valued at $113,500.00.    The 2009/2010 taxes are $2,383.50

The grand total of taxes for the fiscal year, July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2010 is $4991.70, plus interest accrued, for properties that are run down and seriously in need of repair.

With taxes assessed in that amount is it any wonder, that in today's economy, he is hard pressed to come up with that amount to pay taxes, plus make needed repairs to his buildings?

Mr. Morealle was not ignoring the taxes owed. He has spoken with the tax collector, Mr. Eldridge and even the Director of General Assistance who pulled the plug on helping a tenant with rent assistance, as agreed on. He made the mistake of telling Mr. Eldridge that he does not have a mortgage on those 2 properties.

Next thing he knew, Mike Cote, Town of Lisbon Codes officer was at 3 Village Street evicting his tenants, and handing him a notice that the town had foreclosed on both properties. WITH NO PRIOR NOTICE!!!!

Watch and listen to the September 6, 2011 town council meeting. James Morealle's Attorney Richard Golden and Mr. Morealle himself gave a detailed explanation as to why his taxes were in arrears, and a plan for paying his taxes, bringing them up to date.

Watch and learn how your councilors protect the citizens and taxpayers of this town. Watch and decide if you want there councilors to represent you!

It would appear that Councilor Larochelle was not listening because when it came to a vote on accepting the proposal he said he was not ready to accept it as he needed more information. Maybe he had the munchies,  heard that interferes with hearing properly once.

What information? It was clear that Mr. Morealle had a plan and was going to pay his taxes.

Town Manager Eldridge pulled the strings and Councilor Larochelle danced?
Mr. Larochelle has said at many council meetings that he meets with Mr. Eldridge often to discuss town affairs. Does 2 + 2 = 4?

Councilor Larochelle, how many fingers am I holding up?

Council Chair Mark Lunt said that accepting the proposal was not fair to taxpayers.

Go to the town office and pick up a copy of the 2010 Town Report, if you do not already have one. On pages 35, 36, 37, 38 & 39 is a list of unpaid taxes for the tax years, 2001 - 2008, 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 for a total of 161 with taxes unpaid. Some I have probably been paid. The report does not indicate those paid. And yes, my name is in there too. Mine are paid but still listed as unpaid. I struggle with paying my taxes too. It would appear that the town is interested in foreclosing on only a selected few properties

Now, why would any town refuse to accept money owed?

Could it be that the property is, as I said previously, in a prime location? A location the town wants desperately enough to it take illegally?

This recalls the Reggie Thiboutot property at 39 Village Street, Lisbon, next to the Lisbon Fire Station? Do you remember? The town wanted it, and took it.

I ask you, fellow taxpayers, who will be next? You? Me? Your next door neighbor?

Councilors often say for residents to call or email them. They want to know of our concerns and opinions. BULL! ! ! ! ! Councilor Chair Lunt said at that meeting, that he gets so much email he does not even bother to read most of them.  Well that's accurate at least so let's start filling the town council meetings and taking OUR TOWN back from these Crooks.

Is this a councilor that you want to represent you?

All foreclosures have to be to be published In the newspaper for three (3) consecutive weeks. It can be and usually is, a fine print legal ad and can usually be found in the Sun Journal in the Sports Section.

It is the law! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I always read the small print legal notices in both the Sun Journal and Times Record and James Morealles foreclosures were never published! ! ! ! ! !

Assessed value and taxes are public knowledge and were taken from the Town of Lisbon website, Real Estate Tax Commitment Book.

At the September 6, 2011 council meeting Mr. Morealle said the Town Assessor has revalued the property at 3 Village Street, Lisbon. New valuation - $39,900! ! ! ! ! ! !   Too little, too late.

He has his new tax bill to prove it! ! ! !  He's still waiting for his 2011-2012 tax bill for 231 Lisbon Street, Lisbon. As of this writing he does not know if he still owns it, or not! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Once again, who is next? Will it be you? Will it be me? or your neighbor?

It is time for the good citizens of this town to take action!

Attend council meetings. Watch meetings on TV. Call and email your councilors with your opinions and concerns. And hope they read and not delete them.

Was That Lisbon Police Car After A Fresh Batch Of Donuts"

Dear Lisbon Residents,

I have been following the Lisbon Reporter for quite sometime now.  Never really had anything that I felt like writing to it for until yesterday morning.  You see I don't reside in Lisbon or Lisbon Falls but do commute everyday to work up the interstate to Augusta and just to add I don't have a State paid job either.  But anyways I know in these tough economic times that all towns are struggling to keep things going.  Fuel prices are going up already once again.
Thursday, 9/8 morning about 7:50 am  a clearly marked Lisbon Police car blew by me so fast that I thought the paint was going to ignite on the side of my car.  No lights flashing, no siren wailing, not even a blinker.  Now Police cars don't get good mileage anyways and certainly don't get it at over 80mph, as I pushed my little car up to 75mph to see just how fast he was going but decided it wasn't worth it as he was pulling away from me like I was going backwards.
Now why would a Lisbon Police car be speeding northbound on the Interstate?  If it hadn't of been for cars changing lanes in front of him I am sure he would have been going faster.  It doesn't set a very good example as a supposedly Professional Law Enforcement Official to everyone else that shares the road.  Perhaps leaving a little bit earlier would make a safer journey for everyone else that shares the road.

Just thought I would share this with you all to let you know about how this officer of the law was conducting himself.  I just wonder if there was a "fresh" donut sale or perhaps a cat in distress.

Signed,
A neighboring citizen that just loves the Lisbon Reporter

Government Uses BandAids To Fix Problems Instead Of Solving Them

Solving Problems

No one can deny that we have a large number of problems facing this country. The difficulty arises in how to solve these problems. The left believes that more government action with regulations and spending are the answer. The right believes that a smaller government and reduced regulations are the answer. What is missing in all of this is “what are the root causes of the problems?”
The typical response to a problem is to look at what particular regulation was not followed or what event occurred and there was no regulation or rule to cover it.  Stupidity and incompetence are not brought into the mix.  Look at the law suit that cost McDonalds a huge amount of money.  A stupid person placed a hot cup of coffee between her legs and it spilled.  She sued and won.  Now all cups have a warning about coffee being hot.  DUH!  Take a little bit of time and look at the warnings on normal regularly used items.  They are humorous, but they are also causing all of us money because of the cost to the businesses.

In order to solve a problem one must go to the root cause of that problem and then implement a solution and develop a procedure to insure that the problem remains fixed.  I live in Florida and many people have pools.  Let’s assume that your pool needs refilling every week.  A solution is to refill it each week and not to be concerned with the additional cost of water.  A better solution is to discover why the pool is losing water and fix that.  It is much easier for the first solution and that is why many employ that solution.  Placing a quick fix is the solution that the government uses in most cases.  Knowing that it is temporary and will ultimately cost more does not make an impact because it is not their money.

The Federal government wastes billions of dollars each year in the social security administration.  I would think that if that administration took about a hundred cases where the causes was the same and then looked into the causes they would find a trend.  That trend caused the problem and if they were to implement a fix for that problem we would all be happier.  The same could occur in many different departments.

I recall when Harley Davidson motorcycles had quality problems and paid no attention until Honda really started eating into their market share.  They believed that as long as their distributors fixed the problems everyone would be happy.  When I buy an item, I want it to work and do not have the time or patience to return to a shop to have it repaired.  Most people are the same.  Harley Davidson implemented a quality system that worked and they were able to fight Honda.  They were doing all sorts of short fixes in order to meet delivery schedules but never looked at root causes.  When they corrected the root causes the problems evaporated.

The major roadblock confronting politicians about solving problems is that it is not their money that they are spending.  In fact the more money that they spend for their state or district the more likely that they will be re-elected.  One solution for the people is for repeal of the 17th amendment that authorized the election of Senators by the people rather that the state legislature.  The Senators are no longer as loyal to their states.  Look at the amount of money that pours into a state from other states during a senate election.

The obvious correction to a problem is not necessarily the correct solution, but more often than not it may be accepted because of pressure from higher sources or outside sources.  It takes an effective leader not to be swayed by these forces.  The bottom line is that problems can be solved forever if the root cause is discovered and corrected.

RECAP OF SEPTEMBER 6 MEETING,,, STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES

The September 6, 2011 meeting of the Town Council was extremely educational and entertaining to say the least.  The meeting started off with a Public Hearing on Access Management.  This is a new Ordinance dealing with driveways and sight distances in order to provide public safety.  Originally, this document was supposed to be restricted to Routes 9, 125 and 196.  The Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) worked with the Planning Board to come up with this Ordinance.  It was excellently written and provided Public Safety for the residents of Lisbon.  The Planning Board included Mill Street and Upland Road because of the school.  I recommended this ordinance apply to all the streets of Lisbon but the Planning Board and the council did not approve this.

During the Audience Participation, I brought out the fact the town Manager had stated in the council meeting on July 19th; “The Economic Community Development Director would brief the town on Moxie Day and provide a financial report.” in a couple of weeks. It is September 6th and no report.  Again, another example of the incompetency of the town manager by failing to follow through on issues presented at a council meeting.  According to Scott Benson, he will provide the briefing at the next meeting on September 20, 2011.

I asked the question as to how the Animal Control Officer is paid for the four additional communities he provides support.  According to Eldridge, each of the other towns pays equally to the town of Lisbon for the Animal Control Officers salary.

I asked the council at what point are the minutes of the meeting become a Public Record or a legal document.  No one could answer the question so I turned to the Town Attorney Roger Therriault for a response to this simple question.  Therriault shrugged his shoulders like he had no clue and gave no response.  The perfect lawyer for the Town of Lisbon.  The reason I asked the question was because the minutes of July 19th meeting have never been approved by the council.  Also the minutes of August 2 & 16th do not match the video of the meeting.  It appears the town clerk selects what she feels is important to record and once the council approves the minute they are considered a Public Record and a legal document.  By leaving questions and answer out of the minutes, the minutes are no longer an accurate record of the proceedings.  This council voted to no longer transcribe the minutes word for word and allowed the town clerk to write a smaller version of what took place at the meeting.  I believe if the town clerk is NOT recording accurately what took place during the meeting then maybe it is time to return to transcribing word for word the council meetings in order to get an accurate and complete version of the meetings.

I also asked where the Council Working Rules were and what date they were approved.  The response was August 2nd was the date the working rules were approved but they needed to work on the wording of paragraph e(5)d because I pointed out to the council it was impossible to comply with.  By the way, August 2nd minutes had no record of me telling the council about not being able to comply with the rules.  The town is very select when it comes to recording the minute of the meetings.  Showing up the council never gets published!!!!

Later on in the meeting, I asked to speak on the Charter changes and was denied by the Chair Mark Lunt.  I called a point of order and explained to the Chair the effective date of the approved council working rules was August 23rd but the changes had never been posted to town ordinances so I used Section 74-201 which states residents of the town of Lisbon are allowed to speak on agenda items after the sponsor has explained the issue and the councilors have asked questions.  I waited until these provisions were met to ask to speak.  Chairman Lunt stated he was running this meeting and I was denied a right to speak.  The actions of Chairman Lunt clearly demonstrate the council does not comply with their own ordinances and taxpayers are paying over $80,000 for an incompetent town manager who cannot be responsible to post current changes to the town ordinances and web site.

I left the saddest point of all for the last because I already wrote a full article on this; three councilors denied Mr. Morreale an opportunity to recover his property by paying all of the monies owed to the town of Lisbon on Monday September 12th.   Vice Chair Pomelow, Councilors Bowie and LaRochelle voted not to allow Mr. Morreale to pay all back monies owed and to take his property.  This act by these councilors showed the world they have no compassion for their fellow citizens.  They turned their backs on a resident in need of assistance.  Mr. Morreale asked for nothing more than a seven day extension on his back taxes and sewer charges.  In my opinion, this was a disgraceful act by Vice Chair Pomelow, Councilors Bowie and LaRochelle and I hope the next time these councilors come up for reelection; the residents of Lisbon remember how they treated one of their own.

NEXT TIME IT COULD BE YOU, ME OR ANY OF US.

Another Resident Sickened With Current Council Actions

Actions speak louder than words!

Lisbon Town Council showed their true colors last night and it wasn’t pretty.

I had heard rumors about Lisbon Council heartlessly taking property but I wasn’t prepared for last nights example of legal property theft. Never have I seen a group of people more devoid of any human compassion.

Tuesday night Mr. Morreale asked the council for one week to secure the remaining few dollars he owed on his back taxes. Three of our councillors (Larochelle, Bowie, and Pomelow) voted to refuse Mr. Morales seven days to get the last few dollars needed to completely pay off his debt. Instead they voted to take his property.

To compound this injustice it appears that most of the back taxes owed may have been levied inappropriately. Mr. Morreale had a recent tax abatement on his property that reduced property values and consequently taxes by over 60%.

Why did these three councillors do this? Are there plans for this property?

I feel that town employees that have a hand in property seizures should’t be allowed to profit from their own actions by purchasing the same property below market value. This practice gives the appearance of impropriety.

We should curtail this morally revolting practice of property confiscation and find an alternate solution that will ensure that our town collects its needed revenues and at the same time assists struggling home owners in uncertain economic times.

Vice Council Chair Pomelow's Council Working Rules Are A Joke, And Here's Why

SEPTEMBER 6 COUNCIL WORKING RULES

At the September 6, 2011, Town Council meeting I asked the question: “What is the status of the Council Working Rules?”  I was informed by Eldridge the Council Working Rules were approved on August 2, 2011 and were currently in affect.  At the last council meeting, we were told the working rules had been approved on August 2, 2011 but there was some confusion on the language so the town manager was going to fix it.

I reviewed the Council Working Rules attached to the agenda and it is so obvious that neither the town manager nor the town council have a lick of common sense.  I explained at the August 2, meeting the council working rule 5d was impossible to comply with because the council requires the citizens to speak on agenda items prior to having the agenda item explained by the sponsor.  So now the town manager rewords the paragraph to read “Once the agenda item has been explained by its sponsor or the town manager or staff and clarified by any questioning as provided above in (4)c, the discussion on the specific item will remain with the council and public comment will only be allowed at the Chairman’s discretion.  The public shall address the item during the Public Hearing or Audience Participation section of the agenda.”  This version of the paragraph says exactly the same as the old but in a different order.  Eldridge also added “at the Chairman’s discretion”.

I cannot believe the council and the town manager are so stupid as to not realize the same issue exists.  Residents are compelled to speak during Audience Participation without knowing what the issue is.  Residents have a right to voice their concerns or opinions on agenda items once it has been explained to them.  This is a form of censorship and I believe is a violation of Maine Revised Statute Title 13-C.

However, at last night’s council meeting there were even more disturbing actions taken by the council.  The Chairman Lunt refused to allow myself to speak on an agenda item even after I showed him the incompetency of the town manager by not posting the new changes to the Town Ordinance.  These changes to the Council Working Rules were supposed to be replacing Section 74-201 of the town ordinances and this never took place.  Chairman Lunt would not allow me to comment of the Charter Changes after I explained this to the council.  In effect, Chairman Lunt violated the town ordinance and my right to address agenda issues.  The town manager is so incompetent, simple tasks such an ensuring ordinance changes are posted in a timely manner and yet the taxpayers of the Town of Lisbon reward this incompetency by paying this individual over $80,000.

Councilor LaRochelle explained how he was offended by comments published on blogs.  Councilor LaRochelle stated he and other councilors show up every meeting and work hard to earn their pay and do not deserve the abuse they are taking.  I write many articles to the Lisbon Reporter and I am proud to bring the TRUTH to the residents of Lisbon because the residents of Lisbon will never hear it from a councilor, except Councilor Cote.  I make it a practice to support everything I write so the people of Lisbon understand what these councilors are doing.  The main reason, I utilize the Lisbon Report is because I am NOT allowed to bring most of these issues up during Audience Participation or Public Hearings.  This council will not discuss issues of violations of the Charter, incompetency of the town manager, or any wrong doing by members of the council.  This council wants these issues buried in letters to the council to be reviewed only by the council.  The people need to hear what really goes on in this town.  This town has a town manager who is not only incompetent but lacks professionalism.  Calling Public Works employee “idiots” in an email is unacceptable behavior in my book and required disciplinary action but instead the council said Eldridge handled himself in a professional manner and no action was taken.

This council forces the people to comment on blogs in order to get the truth to the people.  If Councilor LaRochelle cannot stand to have the truth brought out to the citizens of the town of Lisbon then he needs to resign and do the Town of Lisbon a favor.  The residents of the Town of Lisbon are entitled to know the truth about what is going on in the Town of Lisbon. If the truth cannot be brought out in town Council meetings, then we need to utilize blogs.  Neither, the Sun Journal nor the Times Record will publish articles or Letters to the Editor without Eldridge’s approval.

Now Councilor LaRochelle, tell me how the citizens of the Town of Lisbon are going to hear the truth about what is going on in the Town?  We, the people, deserve to know the truth.

A SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS

At last nights council meeting, three councilors disgraced themselves and the residents of the Town of Lisbon and all true Mainers.  These three are Vice Chair Lori Pomelow, Councilors Bowie and LaRochelle.

A fellow Mainer of the Town of Lisbon asked the councilors to allow him one week in order to get his finances in order to catch up on monies owed to the town in back taxes and sewer charges.  These three councilors voted no to the motion before the council.  The vote enables the Town of Lisbon to keep his property.  I am sure there is an alternative motive to this insanity, like putting in a Cumberland Farms or even Councilor LaRochelle obtaining his third piece of property from the town.

Mr. James Morreale spoke before the council and explained how he had been working closely with the town officials to pay monies owed to the town.  He explained how everyone was eager to help a fellow resident in this trying economy up until Mr. Morreale mentioned to Eldridge there was no mortgage on this property.

Once Eldridge heard this, there was no further assistance by any member of the staff of the Town of Lisbon.   Eldridge moved quickly to legally obtain the property at 231 Lisbon Street.

Mr. Morreale filed abatement in April of this year on the property at 231 Lisbon Street and 3 Village Street.  Both of these properties, he legally owned at the time.

Two members of the town Tax Assessor’s office came out and went through both of these properties.  As a result, the abatement was approved for 3 Village Street and the property value was lowered from $113,000 to $39,900.   This is a 64% decrease in property value and considerably lowering his tax bill.  The abatement on the 231 Lisbon Street was never settled because the town of Lisbon took the property for back taxes and sewer charges.  There is no wonder Mr. Morreale could not pay his taxes with in inflated property value of over 64% put on him by the Town of Lisbon.  The Town of Lisbon HELPED to create this situation but would NOT help to correct it.  Mr. Morreale, prior to the meeting, went to the town office to pay his back taxes and sewer charges with money in hand and the town of Lisbon refused to accept his money because the town had added additional monies after providing Mr. Morreale with an amount needed.  He had the amount stated earlier but when he got to the town office it had changed.  Now, Mr. Morreale has requested one week in order to pay, in full, all the monies owed in back taxes and sewer charges and Vice Chair Pomelow, Councilors Bowie and LaRochelle refused to render a fellow citizen an opportunity to keep his property.  Mr. Morreale did not ask the council to reduce monies owed the town instead he asked for 7 days to make arrangements to pay ALL the monies owed in back taxes and sewer charges.

What possibly could the town of Lisbon lose by granting this request?

The town gets ALL monies owed to them and Mr. Morreale gets to retain his property.  This would be a win win situation for everyone involved.

After the abatement was approved on 3 Village Street, the Town of Lisbon condemned the property and took it, but sent Mr. Morreale a 2012 tax bill for the property the town had taken.  Eldridge and the town staff once again demonstrated their incompetency.

These three councilors represent the people of the town of Lisbon and as far as I am concerned were totally wrong in their decision NOT to allow Mr. Morreale one week to make everything right.  These three individuals are not true Mainers and should never again be considered neighbors because human beings do not treat their neighbors this way.  True Mainers help their neighbors out in their hour of need.  A prime example of this is what Chairman Lunt revealed last night.  A tree fell across his driveway as a result of the storm, Irene.  He called Councilor Cote, his neighbor, and Mr. Cote went out and removed the tree from Mr. Lunt’s driveway before he cleaned up his own yard.  This is what neighbors, true Mainers and human beings do.  They render assistance to fellow human beings who are in need of help.  This is NOT what Vice Chair Pomelow, Councilors Bowie and LaRochelle did last night; instead they turned their backs on a neighbor in need.

Since, there is absolutely no way to recall any councilors at the present time; the Town of Lisbon will have to live with these three councilors for at least another year but put this incident in the back of your minds and come 2012 Councilors Pomelow and Bowie have to go.

These three councilors do not represent me on anything because I am a true Mainer and a human being and I do not turn my back on a neighbor in need.  This action by Vice Chair Pomelow, Councilors Bowie and LaRochelle is nothing more than disgraceful.

What is Predictive Programming?

Predictive programming is a subtle form of psychological conditioning provided by the media to acquaint the public with planned societal changes to be implemented. If and when these changes are put through, the public will already be familiarized with them and will accept them as 'natural progressions'; thus lessening any possible public resistance and commotion. Predictive programming therefore may be considered as a veiled form of preemptive mass manipulation or mind control.

America's Nuclear Power Grid Is On Shaky Ground, Very Important Facts

Increasing Threats to Our Nuclear Power Stations

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5f/Mahameru-volcano.jpeg/800px-Mahameru-volcano.jpeg
Japan marks 600th eruption of
the Sakurajima volcano this year

I find myself faced, today, with the incredibly unpleasant task of delivering some rather frightening news. Perhaps we can forgive humanity’s nuclear planners because they could not foresee a time where the world was going to suffer though increasingly violent earthquakes that would threaten nuclear instillations. The geological news and the nuclear news are on a collision course and there is nothing we can really do about it short of closing down every nuclear plant in the world. And even then, as we saw in Fukushima, with fuel pools and already shut-down reactors, there continues to be significant ongoing risk from the powered-down nuclear stations.
This past week we found out that the risk of an earthquake causing a severe accident at a U.S. nuclear plant is greater than previously thought, 24 times as high in one case, according to an Associated Press (AP) analysis of preliminary government data. The threat came into sharp focus last week, when shaking from the largest earthquake to hit Virginia in 117 years appeared to exceed what the North Anna nuclear power plant northwest of Richmond was built to sustain.
The two North Anna reactors are among 27 in the eastern and central U.S. that, according to a preliminary Nuclear Regulatory Commission review, may need upgrades that would take years and billions of dollars to implement. The recent quake in Virginia shifted about two dozen spent-fuel containers, but Dominion Virginia Power blew the all-clear sirens saying that thank God all the containers were intact. But lo and behold we find that based on the AP analysis of NRC data, the plant is 38 percent more likely to suffer core damage from a rare, massive earthquake than it appeared in an analysis 20 years ago.
We now have to ask ourselves: What if these rare massive earthquakes on which they are basing their numbers become more frequent and more intense then nuclear planners ever thought they would? At my Sanctuary in the interior highlands of Brazil, I built a walking bridge over our stream that turns into a strong river when it rains. Well the rains have been getting heavier and one day three years ago the river and rains just carried my beautiful bridge away. I should have built it higher and stronger! They should have built those sea walls higher at Fukushima as well.

Could it be that Barack Obama will actually be the one who saves this nation from internal destruction? (Trust me...It's not what you think!) Check out the new article by GGW founder Blaise Ingoglia.

Obama Our Savior?

Make no mistake about it, we are a center-right country and the people of this nation are (finally) waking up and rejecting big government. A Gallup Poll has 42% of people self identifying as conservatives, 35% as moderate and 20% as liberals. This administration has been unapologetic in governing from this minority 20% and the liberal media has been more than happy to be an accomplice to it.
Maybe we shouldn’t be criticizing Obama for it. Maybe we should consider thanking him for it. Why? Well, just imagine if John McCain had won the election. This country would be chugging along like it always had, heading for bankruptcy. We would still be adding more crushing debt because of their inability to balance a budget. We would still be adding onerous regulations that are crippling business and hindering the recovery of our stagnant economy. McCain would have aided in the destruction of our republic at a much slower pace and the electorate would have hardly noticed it.
With an overt “in you face” style of governing this administration has exposed their preference for socialism but, thankfully, were premature in doing so. With control of both chambers of Congress including, at one time, a filibuster proof majority in the Senate, the White House overtly pushed their leftist agenda without even giving us time to read the bills and having to “pass the bill to find out what’s in it”.
Obama has, at lightning speed, pushed us to the cliffs edge…but he at least gave us time to realize that we had not gone over it yet.  McCain would have gradually marched us towards the precipice. If Obama would have been elected President after McCain he would have sent our children’s and grandchildren’s future into the big government abyss.
It will take years, as well as a strong will and an informed electorate, to undo the damage to this republic by this administration and the one before it. We still have time to pull back and reverse course but we must start now.
We should not be hypocrites. If Obama is voted out of office next November because of rampant, unsustainable spending we need to hold the next President to the same standard. We have no choice but to do so. The days of lying down to party leadership are over, unless, your party leadership is serious about balancing the Federal budget, tax and entitlement reform.
The bottom line is this…the progressive and socialist movement in this country got impatient and showed their cards prematurely. If they had waited a little longer it would have been “game over” and in a strange way, because of a now awakened nation, Barack Obama may be the savior of our republic.

A Horse Whisperer, Stacy Westfall, Simply Amazingly Awesome ! ! !

-Read everything below before watching the video!
It takes about 5 minutes of your time to watch this video, but, considering this young lady is deaf and cannot speak,
it is truly unbelievable and worth the time.
Scroll down a bit to get the story before you open the attachment.
THIS IS NOTHING SHORT OF AWESOME!!
This is absolutely awesome.......remember.....she can't hear, she can't speak. No bridle, no saddle......all commands are by touch only. This is one of those, "I wouldn't believe it unless I saw it with my own eyes" kind of thing.
A Horse Whisperer

This girl riding the horse is in her 20's - her dad just died 24 days before this performance. You can hear her dedication to him just before her performance so turn up your speakers a bit. Notice that it is just her and the horse - no bit, no saddle.

She uses signals and touch cues, she's mute. Oh yeah, this isn't even her horse. She is training it for someone else, although she obviously has a relationship with this one.

Hiding George Washington Statue At A MLK Rally

THIS IS INTERESTING AND SOMETHING YOU DIDN'T AND WON'T SEE OR HEAR ABOUT ON THE EVENING NEWS. Oh wait, there was ONE news media who did report it. Guess which one. Fair and Balanced indeed.

Is this what this country has become?

George Washington statue is hidden at the MLK rally in Columbia , SC   (January, 2011)

The annual MLK observance at the state house in Columbia SC had an interesting
twist this year. The event is held on the north side steps of the statehouse.
Prominent at that location is a large bronze statue of George Washington.
This year, the NAACP constructed a "box" to conceal the father of our country
from view so that participants would not be 'offended' by his presence.
I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw this picture of the MLK Day rally in Columbia, South Carolina.
This rally was sponsored by the NAACPand they said that they covered the statue because they "didn't want to offend anyone". Really? George Washington is the father of this nation. How is he offensive to anyone?
Can you imagine what would happen if we covered the statue of Dr. Martin L. King on President's Day? or is only the statue of a 'white guy' offensive ??
Of course, this display of anti-Americanism wasn't covered at all by the
national media (surprise, surprise !!), and the local paper in Columbia only
ran a short piece on it.  It has been covered a little by the blog-world but
I think the word needs to get out to the general public that this is what the
NAACP is all about...militant and (most definately) racist.

LISBON COUNCIL MEETING RULES

1. Please obtain a copy of the evening’s agenda and note the order that items may be acted upon by the Council (if this is a regular or special meeting where action may be taken by the Council). In some instances, the Council may elect to change the order of the agenda.

2. If the Council is holding a Council workshop, public comment is not typically allowed. There are occasions where some public comment may be recruited, but generally speaking, the workshops are reserved for Council members to educate themselves on and discuss a variety of issues facing the Town.

3. Note that “Consent Agenda” items (if there are any) are acted upon first, voted upon as a group, and will most often be voted on without discussion as these items often involve “housekeeping” issues (such as minor parking changes). On occasion “Consent Agenda” items are separated out as stand-alone action items by the Council to allow for more discussion.

4. The Council Chairman presides over the meeting. When the Chairman is not present, the Vice Chairman serves that function.

5. Action on agenda items. As each item on the agenda for any meeting is brought to the floor for discussion:

a. The town clerk reads the agenda item and the action being requested of council.

b. The sponsor of each item or, if there is no council sponsor, the town manager or town staff, shall first be allowed to present their initial comments for consideration by the public and other councilors.

c. Following this introduction of the issue, there will be time devoted to any questions of the sponsor or the town manager or staff regarding the agenda item which any councilor may have which would help to clarify the question presented by the agenda item. The chair may allow questions from the public during this time (4b), and no debate or discussion of collateral issues shall be permitted.

d. Once the agenda item has been explained by its sponsor or the town manager or staff and clarified by any questioning as provided above in (4c), the discussion on the specific agenda item will remain with the council and public comment will only be allowed at the Chairman’s discretion. The public shall address the item during the Public Hearing or Audience Participation section of the agenda.

e. The chair may, if the topic warrants, allow a second period of public comment no longer than two minutes per person, prior to final council vote. Second comments by the public must be to furnish new or undisclosed information or viewpoints.

6. If an “Executive Session” is conducted by the Council, State Statute prohibits public attendance for any discussion of the action to be addressed by the Council. Any action taken by the Council on any “Executive Session” matter must be acted upon in a public meeting, and may occur at the end of the “Executive Session” (which has no time element relative to the length of the discussion involved in the “session”).

Note: Detailed Council governing rules may be found on our website under Town Council

What Happened To The Constitution and The Oathes Sworn To It?

ARE THERE ANY DEFENDERS OF THE CONSTITUTION LEFT?

by Jim Delaney, blogging at Opinerlog
(Sep. 3, 2011) — On the grounds that Justice Thomas’s wife is involved with the Tea Party movement, Jeffrey Toobin of The New Yorker recently demanded that Justice Thomas recuse himself from sitting on a  case challenging the constitutionality of Obamacare’s “individual mandate,” the lynchpin of the health care leviathan.
True to hypocritical liberal form, Toobin studiously neglected any mention of Justice Elena Kagan’s conflict of interest occasioned by her having worked on the issue in the Justice Department before her appointment as Associate Justice.  Another case of selective lib indignity.
The liberal strategy is embarrassingly obvious: eliminate conservative judicial threats to their activist agenda before the case is reviewed.
For me, such deceitful attempts to manipulate the court underscores a much greater concern–a more fundamental concern–that being the menacing power and corruption of the Supreme Court itself..

Top Story Headline by TLR Readers; Hey Brooks, With all your pussy chasing experience, how come you weren't there catching the cats?

Cat neglect leads to finger-pointing

A day after a private animal control specialist removed six kittens, three of them trapped inside a washing machine, from a house filled with carcasses, feces and fleas, area law enforcement and animal control workers argued over jurisdiction, pointed fingers and debated whether the local animal control officer — who had known about the house for nearly three weeks — did his job.
Burton's tale of the house made front-page news in the Sun Journal on Thursday, angering Brooks, the Lisbon police chief, who said Cooper was doing his job and Burton shouldn't have interfered.

All But One Lisbon Councilor Supports The Perpetration Of Fraud

PERPETRATING FRAUD

According to Webster’s dictionary, fraud is defined as (1)a:  deceit, trickery; specifically:  intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right (1)b:  an act of deceiving or misrepresenting:  trick (2)a: one who is not what he pretends to be: imposter (2)b:  one who defrauds:  cheat syn see deception, imposture.

The Town Manager, Stephen Eldridge, certainly has demonstrated he meets all the qualifications of committing a fraud.  As the Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Lisbon, Eldridge is responsible for the daily operation of the municipality.  This could be a simple task requiring little or no knowledge of Maine law or obeying the town Charter.  Since Eldridge took office, he has repeatedly ignored the town Charter and did whatever suited him.  Eldridge has for the last two years screwed up the tax commitment and the tax bills.  The tax bills had to be redone several times in the last two years costing the taxpayer at least $10,000 each time; hopefully this year will be different.

As Chief Administrative Officer, Eldridge is responsible for information posted to the sign board in front of the town office; there are repeated cases of the information being out dated.  How can the residents be expected to be informed when they have to read information which has expired?  This clutter keep’s citizens from being informed on current town business.

The town web site continues to keep information which has expired or been approved by the Town Council instead of posting information which is pending.  This is done to insure residents do not have an opportunity to participate or voice their opinions on town business.  Town Council workshop agendas are not posted in order to prevent citizens from attending.  Keep in mind, council workshops are NOT televised by Great Falls.  This action keeps the residents from knowing what is discussed during these workshops.  Also, residents cannot voice their concerns during workshops even if they have information which would benefit the Town of Lisbon.

Now for the latest demonstration of fraud perpetrated by Eldridge; the minutes of the Town Council meetings are being stripped of items brought out during the meeting.  If anyone wants proof of this blatant violation of the Town Charter, then print off the minutes of August 2, and August 16, 2011 from the town web site and compare the minutes to the videos for the same dates provided by Great Falls also found on the town web site.   There are items such as a discussion of the missing $32,500 not in the minutes of August 2, 2011.  There also was a discussion of the Fire Chief needing $5,700 to move a building.  The funds were committed by the council but never executed in four months.  Why isn’t the money returned to the General Fund until needed by the Fire Department for the work?

The minutes of August 16, 2011 do not reflect a discussion of equipment purchased with the $32,500 misappropriated from the Economic Community Development Department or the whereabouts of the council working rules.  The minutes have a discussion pertaining to 20 Campus Avenue when it was 4 Campus Avenue.

These clearly demonstrates the simplest of administrative actions cannot be performed by Eldridge.  The Town Manager is paid $80,000 dollars plus by the taxpayers to ensure the Town of Lisbon is operating in a professional manner.  It is the direct responsibility of the Town Manager to ensure the daily operations are performed as to reflect transparency in our government.   The citizens of the Town of Lisbon require all town business be performed legally and above board.  Keeping information, which reflects badly on the administration of the Town Council and Town Manager, does not demonstrate an administration which is reliable and truthful with residents.

Stephen Eldridge has clearly demonstrated a lack of competency in performing the simplest of tasks required by a Town Manager.  Eldridge’s continued disgraceful behavior constitutes an embarrassment to the Town of Lisbon, Maine Municipality Associate (MMA) and the residents.  It would be a disservice to real Town Managers to equate Eldridge as a Town Manager.  Eldridge is an impostor and truly fits the definition of fraud by pretending to be the Town Manager of Lisbon.

I believe before the Town of Lisbon can get back on track as the model community in which to raise a family, the Town Council needs to review Eldridge’s continued violations of Maine law, Town of Lisbon Charter and his daily operation of this community.  All of these infractions certainly provide grounds for dismissal of Eldridge so the Town of Lisbon can begin to heal.

Yeah but only if you are in the right or is it left council circle. Good councilors are shunned by the rest and treated with the utmost of disrespect by them and Especially by the Lisbon Police Chief David T. Brooks. What a sorry ass piece of crap for law enforcement. He wouldn't make a pimple on a real law enforcers butt. Yeah I said this.
