A BIG Thank You!

Dear Editor;

I would like to say a great big "Thank You" to all those who signed the petition for the recall of Norma Wells, Chairperson of the Town of Lisbon Town Council. I am only one of the Lisbon Concerned Citizens who called you, went from door to door on a lovely Sunday afternoon, and stood for hours at the Lisbon Transfer Station on 2 Saturdays getting signatures from Town of Lisbon citizens, those who vote at the MTM Center,District 2, Lisbon Falls.

We had posters visible explaining the reason for the petition. Many were anxious to sign without even being asked. Some made a special trip to the Transfer Station just to sign; others after hearing the reason for the removal of Ms. Wells signed without hesitation.

Two Hundred Eighty-eight signatures were required to have her recall on a ballot for a Special Referendum in October. We actually have 354 who signed, of those 309 were valid, 21 more than the required 288. What does that tell you Norma? Now, registered voters in District 2, all that is necessary to complete the recall of Ms. Wells as a member of the Town Council is your vote in the Special Referendum on October 28, 2008 from the hours of 1:00pm to 7:00pm.

Once again, thank you to all who signed the petition, and for your support. Please keep in mind, the Lisbon Reporter is your forum, to voice your views and opinions, as I have done with this Letter to the Editor. We want to hear from you.

As a post script, I will be casting my vote for Roger Cote for Town Council in November. Mr. Cote is running 'at large', meaning he will be representing both Lisbon Village and Lisbon Falls residents. This election is crucial, both National and local, so if you are not registered, please take the time to register. And if you are registered, a vote for Roger Cote is a vote for responsible government.

Signed,
Dorothy B. Fitzgerald
